No, and for the same reason. Or did you not read my comment?

the 13" non Air machine(s) will catch up when Ivy Bridge comes out. Probably not this refresh though. Why not buy a 15" refurb? It's cheaper, comes with the same warranty and AppleCare elligability, and with a whole lot more quality control on it. I'd look into it, it's a good deal.
, if this happens, the 13 macbook and macbook pro will be without a refresh for 2 years. and tbh , there's no way they keep selling c2d macbooks at 2011!

If it's a redesign, I'll probably wait a bit (couple weeks at most), just so I know exactly what I'm dealing with as I plan an aftermarket SSD & ram upgrade at purchase time. If it's a simple refresh, I'll order it the first day, along with SSD, optibay, and RAM.

same here, i have to do some research first though, i dont know about macbook-compatible rams and ssd.how much do you think it will cost to buy 8gb ram and 128GiB ssd?

If all things remain the same, based on my research, I'd say you could do 8gb & 128gb SSD for under $400. People are getting the current generation RAM for under $100 for 8gb and 120gb SSDs for under $250. I expect Sandy Bridge laptops will need faster ram which will probably raise the price point a bit.

there are HUGE (!) differences.
not with the specs but, the pro model has an aluminium chassis. which is way better than the plastic of the mb.

The plastic takes far more of a beating than the aluminum does. And if it isn't a spec difference, why should there be two models?

Specs too (FW and RAM).

Aluminum and backlit keyboard are obviously "superficial", but nevertheless important for a high-end computer.

FireWire I'll agree with, though sadly, most people who end up buying the 13" Pro don't even use FireWire let alone know what it is. We do, but we're in the minority. It's also not like they couldn't put FireWire back in the white MacBook.

I've seen a lot of discussion around internal specs but what's the feeling for the case design? I'm hoping it'll get a revamp, if it doesn't I'd be slightly concerned that it will later this year and my new macbook pro will instantly look old :(

I'm doubtful, but maybe next year.

Well, if the refresh happens in February, there'll likely be another one by November, which coincides with Ivy Bridge, and is also before 2011.

you keep avoiding the arguments which you cannot counter.
the aluminium body may be easier to bend, but can conduct heat more efficiently, etc.

i hate waiting....i wish there were at least some leaked pictures i could stare at four hours on end (sarcasm).

I'm sorry, I must not be seeing them then. What were they?

We're talking about the heat generated by a Core 2 Duo chip, I don't think it makes all THAT much of a difference.

it actually does. even c2d chips get hot. why shouldn't they?

the temperature depends on your tasks.

Probably also depends on whether your white MacBook has cooling that's worse than spec. :p

This argument is stupid. You're right, Aluminum looks cooler and serves as a natural heat sink. I don't know what else you want from me here,

This seems like something that would be quietly updated, but it also seems like it's getting close to a time for a Media Event of some sort, right?

The iPad was introduced over a year ago, and we've got to assume that a new iPad will be presented before it's released like is always done with product refreshes.

Also, there may be a big step or change with a MBP refresh. Maybe there will be no optical drive, or maybe there will be some kind of SSD option or something else. That can't be done with a quiet overnight update, right?

Finally, is it getting close to time for another peak at 10.7? How many previews do we usually get before a big OS update?

It seems like those are all things that could be covered in some kind of press conference or media event, and hopefully we'll get something good in the next few weeks.

Maybe, but not necessarily.

Sure, it can.

I feel like they'll have to give us one sooner or later; at least one where the Developer Preview (Beta) will be given out to ADC members.

It's possible...

if you accept the differences then i've made my point and disproven yours: the mb and the mbp 13" are different.

Lets hope I mean everyone knows it gonna happen sooner than later, I'm just afraid this is getting our hopes up only to wait until mid march....

Paul Otellini (CEO of Intel) was quoted as saying that they could come as early as the second half of 2011.

Yeah thats what i read in wikipedia but right after that it quotes "However, it now seems more likely that Ivy Bridge will be launched a year after Sandy Bridge, probably during CES 2012."

Sure, it could go either way. But, it's in line with a typical MacBook Pro refresh cycle. If the 13" takes a back-seat and isn't discontinued, it'll join back up with the others next refresh, unless Intel makes another inferior IGP AGAIN.
