Marketing-wise this is a pretty bad ad. No one should bash competition because this cause people who use the "competition" (Windows Vista) to think that Apple think they are stupid by using Vista. They should put efforts on what makes the Mac different from Vista and stop bashing Microsoft directly. It's fun to see that Microsoft helps Apple (With Office on Mac OSX) and Apple is still bashing them. If Microsoft would stop OSX support, Apple would lose sales from people that needs Office comptability.
They won't. More Macs sold, more Office copies sold as well.Steve Jobs may wave his "Vista is a crap" banner ten years more, the money still flow to MS

I always look forward to the new Get A Mac ads, but they are just becoming very mediocre.

"Genius" was awful which is a shame as the concept was good.
"Knocking was appalling" - maybe why it is on youtube and not the official site
"Party is over" was very forgettable
"Choose a vista" was okay and highlighted a good point, but not particularly funny.

That 'genius' is BLAZING!!! Next Ellen Feiss??? you heard it here first. someone needs to find out what store she works at.

I don't like them, or any of the ads except "cancel or allow."

But what I like doesn't much matter. The ads are not targeted at anyone tech-savvy enough to be voicing an opinion on a forum about rumors about one brand of electronics

Yawn... these adverts are so lame! Even worse are the ones here in London with the Mitchell and Webb idiots. I've always thought macs are cool and have used them for years and years, but these crap commercials make me wince and I think the campaign is taking away from the hipness of apple.

yeah, but living in london you're used to funny/clever/ground breaking ads. out here we're stuck with... well with crap that makes the apple ads look like nobel prize contenders.

I'm glad you lot dont run Apples advertising efforts! The idea of advertising is to build up brand awareness, and you do that by showing the same messages over and over. If it was up to you lot you would have run these Mac Vs PC ads for a week and then changed to something else entirely different for another week. I'm sorry but you can expect these ads to run for years! Oh noes!

some points

The vista ad is my favourite. PC is the star.
The girl genius is very smart. dang! iCan't be a genius like that.
Mac (Justin) doesn't look "smuggy and arrogant" like some say the UK Mac looks.
"5 years and 2 days" is a great line LOL. Again, PC is the star.

About the "knocking" ad... what exactly happened?

Choose a vista and genius were good. The party one I would not have run since leopard got pushed back about four months. The knocking one I hope never sees the light of day.

This campaign is a comedy gold mine lets hope they continue for a good while,
Hearing the whining PC users scream BS! is a little amusing as well.

The problem here is that Apple is far from perfect itself. The trick is not going so far as to where the other side copies the format and pushes back.

Another mac ad on cnet

I swear its new. It reminds me of the old one where pc is in disguise only this time he's hinding just out of view and peeks around the wall on the left. It was a background ad on cnet. Am I crazy? I swear it's new.

These ads ARE starting to get annoying. How about Apple focus on their product for once instead of slamming MS. All this is doing is turning people off to the Mac because the ads after a certain amount of time start to feel like arrogance.

You mean like every other company out there? For example, Microsoft?

"The Wow Starts Now!"

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Utterly forgettable, rather cheesy and trotting out a message that everyone's heard before.

The Mac adverts are creative, humorous, simple, joined up, timeless, aggressive, memorable, effective, cheap to produce and widely talked about.

That's pretty much every criteria for a decent ad campaign ticked.

That's your opinion, which is fair enough, but your dislike seems to boil down to the actors and calling them 'crap' isn't much of a critique.

Better!

These are the best ones. Still don't care for the whole concept but these are the best of the bunch. Choose a Vista really hits the mark well.

Sorry, but I think Apple have gone way past "tolerably arrogant" in their ad campaign. This is getting really embarrassing. If all they can do is to bash PC's and MS OS'es to promote their own product, they must be severely lacking in creativity or not have enough confidence in their own product. Hybris and Nemesis... As much as I like my Mac (and my 5 PC's are doing their job as well), I think it's time for Apple to move along here.

I liked how in Genius they used numbers that are powers of 2, which is actually the easiest math for computers to do. 4096 = 64^2 = (8^2)^2 = ((2^3)^2)^2 = 2^12 = 4K.

!!!!! vista is XP, with a new design mostly, which was XP, which was 98, which was 95........

:apple: is tha ****!

its the same concept, but ideas are new.......!

Actually, Vista's path was as follows, XP from Windows 2000 from Windows NT 4.0 from Windows 3.51 and Windows '95 (the interface) from IBM's OS/2 (I believe there has not been and OS/2 error message spotted in Windows since NT 4.0).

Love or Hate them...

Love them or hate them, people generally talk about the Apple commercials. How many people do you know say "my favorite Microsoft commercial is...".

These commercials are actually more like mini webisodes, with re-occurring characters, that people can relate to.
