I ordered my 5k iMac on 10/15. I given a 10/21-10/23 delivery date. I paid for expedited shipping. It didn't leave the processing stage until 10/22. I received my Apple Care on 10/22. I received an email from apple saying the arrival wouldn't be until 10/29. I called Apple to say WTF!!! They refunded my expedited shipping costs and told me it would be the 29th before it would arrive. I have been monitoring the shipping progress...it sat in a warehouse in Shanghai all weekend....I am fairly bummed about these developments....first time Apple didn't meet their dates with me in almost 30 years of being a customer.

Mine arrived 90 minutes earlier than anticipated. Every single Science Fiction reference to gigantic is running through my brain right now. Outside of forgetting to select a wired keyboard I'm 100% good.

Hope everyone gets their iMac safe and sound.

Those who have ordered ship-to-store, has anyone received theirs earlier than the availability date? Last week they pushed mine back by 2 days to Oct 29 (which means I won't be around to pick it up until Nov 2, three weeks after I ordered it) but I'm trying to figure out what the likelihood of getting it by the original date might be.

Ordered on 19 Oct and up to the middle of last week, the delivery date was 30 Oct.

Today:

I ordered on the exact same date, and was promised the same time frame delivery with paying expedite shipping. And like you, The status hasn't changed since the weekend, it still listed in China. This is my first built-to-order, and the experience is terrible.

This is all crazy. I'd have thought a BTO wouldn't take "this" long and would be to the owner by at least 1 week.

Some people got emails from apple telling them the orders are being delayed. I got none, that is why this BTO experience is terrible. And they totally ignore the "expedite "shipping request, and let the product sat in China for three days. I was offered two options when I placed my order, either shipping free receiving between Oct 26-29, or paying $42 for delivery at Oct 21-23. That's six day differences! It already missed for a birthday gift this past weekend, and I still didn't see the shipping refund the rep told me I would receive.

I never received an email that mentioned any delays. I had to complain to apple just to get my expedited funds returned to me. They acted as if I had no reason to complain. I am sorry, but if you advertise one thing and deliver something lesser....isn't that like bait and switch???

Just talked to Bhphoto rep and he said they expect the new imac to arrive on 11/13.. My order will ship soon after

I say S***!!! :(o_Oo_O

Totally agree. The rep told me "ooh the delivery time is estimated." I am sorry but I didn't see any "estimated" remark on the order page. When you have the options to choose for "Fastest" Delivery on Oct 21-23 for $42, or Free Delivery on Oct 26-29. And you can't deliver your promise then it is a false advertising to me. Did you receive your shipping refund back yet? I still haven't seen that on my credit card account.

I ordered 2 BTO (27" i7 8GB 512GB SSD 395x) october 14th at 7pm and it's still processing right now.... Delivery was first planned Oct 24-26 and it was changed to Oct 28-29 last week end :(

Last Saturday (Oct 24th) I got the notification that my iMac (maxed out 27" 5k) has shipped via TNT Express International.
I was provided a tracking number (11 digits) and a delivery number (10 digits). I tried all possible combinations with the TNT tracking service, but the order will not show up. I rang up TNT customer service, they told me they don't have 11- and 10-digit tracking numbers and could not find my order. They advised me to contact Apple and inquire, if the package might have shipped with a different carrier. Apple customer service told me that it has indeed shipped with TNT.
So I think it's just down to waiting until it arrives...

I had almost the exact same experience. And it just slipped another day today.

Interesting how similar orders can play out so differently in processing/shipping time. I'm sure it depends on what you ordered, where you're located (so what factory/warehouse will build it), any payment issues, and shipping options. But even then it seems like there's more variability than one would expect. It would be interesting to know more behind-the-scenes details of how orders are processed and built.

I ordered mine this past Friday, Oct 23 with delivery to store estimated on Nov 6. Just past midnight this morning, my credit card was charged and the order went from Processing to Preparing for Shipment. Earlier than I expected. Still says Available 06 Nov, 2015, so will be interesting to see if it sits for a while before heading to the store.

They might only charge you the shipping, if you have placed the expedited shipping option. They only charge you the full amount when the product actually left China, at least it was in my case that I found out an hour ago. I hate that they gave me a false hope that I would receive my order on time, and I let the birthday boy down because of that.

I got my 27" iMac today after placing an order on 10/19. Barely had time to set anything up before going to work though. Got my Lightroom library transferred over from my PC, did all the updates, and scheduled a regular clone backup of the 500gb SSD.

Really glad I went with the wired keyboard with numeric keypad... I use those extra keys all the time. New trackpad is very nice! No doubt that screen is the most impressive thing about the new computer, though.

Glad to be back on OSX after a relatively short stint on Windows 8/10. I had a 2009 iMac with slow HDD but switched to PC about a year ago when that machine just got too slow. But yeah, still like OSX so much better!
