It's possible to have two nice information corners without an ugly black blob in the middle. I would also say that if you can't fit in the battery % then there needs to be more space in the corner.
Technically the battery percentage numerics can fit inside the battery icon but it’s up to Apple to make the minor change.

I'm more disturbed by the occasional posts like this than the notch itself, move on.....nothing new here folks
I find it strange that people have a problem with the notch as it’s taking away from unused space in portrait mode but have no problem with the unused area below the keyboard. The only time the notch is intrusive is during landscape mode and that is not the position people use they phones most of the time. Would I welcome any reduction in the notch; sure, is it a deal breaker presently; no.

I have been saying this for years but some Apple fanboys claim it's impossible.

Please tell me you understand physics. While some sensors can and may be reduced in physical size others like the camera to be decent would suffer. It’s like the same people and bloggers who mention the lack of a 1080p or higher camera on a MBA/P when the thickness of the lid is a fraction of an iPhone and iPad. What has happened to the education in many countries?

If you see the images there is a space between the first sensors and second while sensor 2-4 are tightly spaced.

But people see any kind of mock-up and automatically think is doable... Being a photoshop engineer is so easy 😂
Oh and make a 100% bezel-less display while not being everyday functional. Pipe dreams acquired from movies. If a bezel-less phone falls on the ground (which happens) that thing will shatter and if a case is on it then usability suffers (along with user complaints).

That waterfall display that Samsung introduced was horrible and I see some Android manufacturers are still pushing it.

The notch is an ugly abomination that people will look back to and laugh about once it is gone entirely.
I am surprised Apple is having such a hard time getting rid of it when other manufacturers where already able to for a while.
It’s about money. I’m sure apple can eliminate it completely by now. There’s other companies that have working phones with it done already out there.
Apple knows that they can give small updates that will make people upgrade so they won’t release a full screen phone till they have milked all those upgrades.
ooo smaller notch I want that.
next year- ohh no notch. Bye bye 1200$ phone that’s perfectly fine. I want that.
They know what they are doing.

I never use my iPhone in landscape mode so the notch doesn’t bother me at all . I actually quite like it .
You like a physical chunk of screen out of the thing you look at?
that’s just crazy to me. Have you not watched video or played a game where there is nothing there but stuff on the top left and bottom left?
its like putting dead pixels on top of your tv and you say you like it? Common now

Don't mind the current notch. But good if it gets smaller and great if it disappears in the future models

Except there is a problem with your example. When watching TV it’s in landscape mode and having a notch on the top would be distracting however most movies have black boxes on the top and bottom as the screen is not 21:9 ratio and some content is not 18:9. Regardless with the black bars too and bottom you would not see it.

When playing a game in landscape mode the notch cuts into the right or left side of the display depending on how you hold your device and most of the time that area is covered by your thumb.

I am not making an excuse for a reduction or elimination of the notch, what I am saying is that people are making a big dea out of nothing when the phone with notch is designed to be use in portrait mode majority of the time and it’s not the problem then. What I do hope Apple brings is the unlock in any orientation from the iPad Pro to iPhone.

Apple knows, that’s why they hide it in all marketing adds for the Pro version.

the notch to me is a bad idea and more over now a days that you cant unlock iphone with masks.

though touch id wasn’t better but just different, a fingerprint scanner in the side as the ipad would be much preferible for many.

The notch as developer is a real PAIN and as user you can get used to it, as humans get used to many unconfortable things (as wearing glasses) but you can’t say “I dont care it anymore”

is like that annoying noise in airplanes you get used to it but once it finished you feel the relief.

Apple doesnt allow developers to black out the sides of the notch area so full screens apps look that weird always in iPhones, that is a total disruptive way of design and customize frames.

That's because none of these others do have same tech Face ID like iPhone. They usually have one camera here and there, which they make it like a hole-punch or some hide it terribly under the display (awful) or some mechanical camera pop up, which they have already abandoned the idea now. These companies could come up with mediocre solutions and no one would give a damn. But Apple simply can not do that. And Apple does not play by the same rules these other companies play. Apple waits for the tech to mature while others compete who would be the first.
After a year of mask wearing a great many of us are totally disillusioned with FaceID. I wouldn't mind at all not having it anymore. And the notch remains an unsightly abomination that I still cannot unsee after 1.5 years with my 11 Pro.

Glad to see this, but it would be nothing if apple will not allow us to have at least 2 extra icons like DND or alarm clock, or battery percenters etc
Yea, I'd love to see that extra screen real estate take advantage of. I know we'll probably never get the level we do on android (I live in notifications, so having icons for each app helps the hell out of productivity) but at the very least, having some more system level icon statuses would be fantastic.

I imagine the forum will “blowup” if Apple doesn’t give us back the battery percentage in the icon in this iteration😂😂😂
