I fully understand iPads are not built to be super tough and durable. But with that said, this new iPad bent alarmingly easy. I could easy see this being badly damaged from regular use (like being put in a backpack), or from accidentally sitting/leaning on it.

Not good enough Apple.

That's not a bend... That's a snap! And an easy one at that.
I agree. I understand that this is a device with a large surface area and flat design, but it looks like the amount of force needed to completely destroy these new iPads is very small. I do not own an iPad but was thinking of buying one. This bend test at the end of the video just became a deal breaker (pun intended)! ☺️☺️

"Scratch test"...the dude took a brand new BOX CUTTER to the back of a piece of ALUMINUM. Did you expect it to do NOTHING?

I keep making the joke, but guys, these things aren't made out of Adamantium.

I hope you're all happy with the 2020 iPad Pro that's as thick as a 2011 iMac and weights 50 pounds.

you dont get it. its part of the unnecessary entertainment, the real issue is not the clickbait, its that you can bend the ipad under circumstances, that are not complete unlikely in real word usage. its poor internal design. 10s of the video are important, the rest is the normal youtube stuff/bs.

everybody knows how the youtube business works, thats not the point at all.....

the 11 ipad generation is a beta design. like a shiny object in the stoneage. not productive at all, mainly, because the lack of software.... stuff like this is just a bonus

I would love a more rugged iPad for commercial, on the field type use, but thinness sells.

It’s not that the new iPad Pros are terrible so much as they are just more delicate.

I have to consciously transport my new iPad with extra care. I never felt the need to do this with my other iPads ever. I actually jammed my 1st gen 12.9” so hard into a cradle that I dented the edge a good 1-2 mm in but it was tough. It worked fine and didn’t bend along the surface part, just the edge.

I treated that and the older iPads casually and my only concern was to not drop them. My new iPad feels like it requires much more care.

what i dont get, they would easily have the space (reducing speaker sound box, red), to put two bars in there to strengthen the structure (green)

Apple released their folding display before Samsung ;)

Now that’s funny!

He’s talking about the lens and screen. Apple claims they use sapphire but yet it scratches like its glass.

Why the **** are people treating their $1000 device like a plastic toy? Give it some love and it won’t bend. And if you don’t feel like giving your $1000 device any love, get a hard thick cover for it.

When you bend things they bend. When you scratch things they scratch.

We live in an era where people expect all laws of physics to be bend (no pun intended) Anything short of that could serve a great click bait.
I bet the Box Therapy guy is steaming for not being the first to come up with such a sensational crap!!

I think the issue is, in the videos, they are not applying that much force. so if it was in a backpack etc it could bend....I agree it should not bend that easy.

After using Apple products for almost 30 years....I am done.

I am tired of paying $3k-4k for a middling laptop, I am done dealing with phones (and now tablets) that pursue thinness over function, I am done supporting a company that doesn't even exert the effort to keep their "pro" products up to spec, and I am so over them purposely making everything non user-replaceable/upgradable while charging prohibitively expensive prices for upgrade options...

They made the iPad Pro so damn thin that the camera lens protrudes pretty far out, and they couldn't even put an audio jack on it. This is the end result, an expensive toy that bends like a piece of cardboard. What's more, his scratch tests on the display and camera lens reveal that Apple isn't even using materials of a high enough quality to be commensurate with the price.

Excellent story. See yaa ....bye bye

It does appear the new iPads have very thin glass (easy to deform the image with slight pressure) and it bent with very little force (compared to bending previous iPads that took a little bit more effort).

My prediction, next years iPad Pros will address these short comings.

If you're the type of drama queen who's going to toss the 12.9" iPad in your backpack and bash it around, pony up the extra bucks for a Smart Keyboard Folio to protect it and enhance its functionality.

Meanwhile, let the rest of us enjoy the featherweight 1.39 pounds of rip-snortin' computer power and glorious screen lightly held between our thumb and forefinger.

It may be the case but iPads aren't really exactly the type of devices you would accidentally bend. At least for me. I don't know how other people use this but I have it on my palms when I am using it, or on a smart cover on a table. From my point of view and the way, I have used iPads since the original one, can't imagine a single scenario how I could possibly bend this thing - unless I want to.

I wonder what would happen to my new iPad Pro if it was hit with a sledgehammer

The answer is pretty simple really. This is nothing to do with any design flaws or whatsoever. This is all about trying to the first to come up with some sort of "gate" and creating the next YouTube viral. For anyone that has been around for the last decade.... this phenomena is quite common with new Apple products and not new at all. This happens every single time a new Apple product is out. There will always be at least a few videos on YouTube fighting to be the next "gate" viral.

Apple deserves every bit of attention it gets for misusing simple words, IMO. The levels of meaninglessness that pro now has at Cook & Co. still amazes some of us. Pros used to use Apple pro machines, and they didn't cure cancer but they earned their high prices.

In what ways exactly were they more pro? The latest Apple computers are all light years faster than older Macs, so what about them was so pro? Expandability? Show me another computer that has as many options as you get with TB3? You can link like 50 old devices together on some of these new Macs, so it can't be expandability. Longevity? Macs are clearly superior as you can use one for easy 6 to 8 years. I think some "pros" do more whining than they do working.

I disagree, the new ipads bend clearly to easy. You cant transport this mobile! thing in a bag with a piece of mind. Big deal for students. It’s a joke.
