I don't think I'm following the logic or desire for Blu-Ray on a laptop. Why is everyone pitching a tent about blue-ray? I can not see why this is such a great idea unless you are watching it on a 17" and or higher display? Am I missing something here?

and apple is sometimes overprotecive and forces their opinion on their customers but thats OT so lets go back to the thread

ugly iPod i hope it is just a fake

Fifth, Apple is rumored to be developing an iPhone OS mini-tablet.

Well, for us that would be the same (read, great), as far as the new device can be used like a current laptop for Keynote and PowerPoint presentations (from NATIVE files, with full transitions, animations, video, etc).

blu-ray

Blu-ray NOW. I demand Apple supports blu-ray encoding and burning. It is ABSURD they have waited this long.

Isn't this the guy who claimed that the new iPhones would be CDMA / GSM compatible? I don't believe that Apple would change the design of the iPod that much.

Blu-ray can store more data than a DVD. Blu-ray would also improve image quality for any display over 640*480.

I can't see why there can't be some form of iWork on that device. Just like how mobile Safari loads pages just like regular Safari, mobile iWork should view documents just like regular iWork.

Some of the more advanced transitions may be disabled (just like on Macs with really low GPUs like the Mobility Radeon 9200).

Sorry Kev

I am not buying this.
Yes, I'd like iTunes to suck less for video.
And the iPod line-up needs a refresh.

But
1) That Nano is a terrible design. If you had that thing in your jeans pocket, and sat down, it would sever your femoral artery. Knife crime is rife, do we really need iPods you can stab people with?

A device needs to have a shape. 4:3 is a good shape. 16:9 is too long. This is what? 3:1 ! That is absurd!

2) The Blu Ray thing has been predicted a hundred times already. If it was going to happen, it would have ALREADY happened. I hope Apple continues to eschew the format. Optical Disks are not the future of digital file distribution.

C.

Sure has.

Apple could have released Blu-ray for data only (no competition with iTunes Store).
Apple could have released Blu-ray on only the Mac Pro (reasonable price compared to other Macs).

The only reason for Apple not already using Blu-ray if they plan to is because they wanted to wait until the format war is over, then release Blu-ray on the Mac Pro after that (Nehalem).

AppleInsider also questions the 10.5.6 Blu-ray part.

AppleInsider said:
Potentially casting doubt on this latest rumor is a claim tacked on at the end that Mac OS X 10.5.6 will add Blu-ray support to the operating system. While many have long assumed Apple's role in the Blu-ray Disc Association would eventually lead to Macs with support for the HD video medium, knowledge of the Mac OS X update roadmap beyond beta releases (currently 10.5.5) is often limited to Apple.

Is the technology available for Apple to produce 300+gb ipods? Just thinking should be capable of making maybe 500gb ipods. Finally I can get my ipod.

Not with 1.8" drives I don't think (maximum capacity 160 GB as of now). Maybe in a few years' time.

Puh-lease.

A curved screen? What is this, 1989?? Next, a fake woodgrain finish!

The fool who shopped that trainwreck also neglected to have the controls in the same direction/viewing angle as the screen.

:D
Just need some fins and it's a 1956 DeSoto.
BUTT ugly, and Apple would NEVER make something that looked like that.
NEVER.

Peeps. Apple will never curve the display. that is TOTALLY against the apple brand design guidelines.
What will most likely happen is the front becomes completely flat, possibly made of glass with a curved rear - reminiscent of the new iphone. I wouldn't even be surprised if the wheel goes away entirely.

wow, there are guidelines, well geez, why dont you tell us about them

No you are right, staircases are the ideal places to broadcast from, you get it all the time it's people and staircases in the media, and ladders too, in the news, everywhere...:D. It's not the random internet bozo who doesn't even have enough space in his pad to put a fridge in that is forced to go and broadcast in front of a staircase. Hey mom I crammed my watercooled octo cpu in front of the staircase right next to the bath for 10 and now I am playing mac guru to the world. What a clown.:apple:

well this guy obviously but he desk near his staircase, and what you expect most of these people dont own production companies, dont expect a spielberg movie. again there isnt a macrumors office building,no it's ran in this guys basement

Curved nano? How are they going to sell this? "Now the screen is 50x more likely to be scratched and scuffed."
