Still using original iPod. Anyone else?

I'm still using the original iPod and although I know that many people had problems with battery life on the original, I was wondering if there are any people who are still using the original? I had a battery problem for a few days before Apple released the firmware update that fixed the battery life issue.

Anyone else out there still using the original iPod? Any problems with it? Mine is working flawlessly.

Jobs looks a little funky in this pic. Maybe he should have smiled a bit.

Screen choices

It looks like the menu choices are:

???? - highlighted
Extras
Settings
Shuffle Songs - ??? possibly
?????? - cannot tell

can anyone else read what the selections on the menu are?

Is Music the first selection?

I'm trying to read the menu options on the iPod in the picture -- can anyone tell if they're any different that on the current iPods? I only have a 1G iPod so I don't know what the latest firmware is like...

I think what you have there is right...

the bottom could be "backlight"
:D

looks like browse is the first selection, and backlight is the bottom selection

this is exciting! ive been waiting a while for this! mrdhammer, is it nice to likely be the first person not associated with apple, newsweek, or the release of this ipod to see it?

I don't think it is backlight, it doesn't seem to match my iPod looks like maybe two words maybe three seperated by "a" or something

Backlight is under settings

Using my SuperVision....I think the top says "browse"

and the bottom is backight.

So IT goes like this
Browse
Extras
Settings
Backlight

Not much different than what the current ipods say.

Look on Apples site: http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html

Yeah it's definitely backlight on the menu...(not like I've seen the thing I know)

And you'll also notice at the bottom of the cover it says: "Steve Jobs with the new iPod" Would like to have seen the screen get a bit bigger, but at least this rules out the oh-so-important color rumors eh?--The thing looks as white/blue as ever.

Look closely at an iPod you have, the word Browse is longer than Extras, in the picture the top selection is shorter than Extras
If it is Music that would be shorter than Extras, and would lend a completely different menu for Music related selections

Music

I think the first line is "Music" and at first glance thought the last one said "Live ????"

My bad using Mg instead of GB

This thread is hot, I was only away from my desk for a few hours.

I have no inside information regarding the new iPod pricing, just informed conclusion and common sense, although I do believe that the video iPod is coming sooner rather than later.

I have a feeling that someone at Newsweek is going to get fired for posting this picture.

About the word Browse being longer than Extras. Maybe the top says Music instead of Browse. That way it would eliminate Playlists and Browse.

it also has shuffle songs between settings and backlight.
I wonder if it can do smart playlists on the fly?

i might go down to the local apple store and see if i can put down an order. If they deny all knowledge i can point them here, that might be fun.

Doubt it - they probably are always uploading stuff for review. The URLs aren't that obvious for the stories (a lot to try!), but I guess the covers are a little more predictable (or less to guess).

also Backlight would not be long enough to match the picture, as it is only 1 letter longer than settings on the iPod and this selection is 2 or 3 characters longer

you can tell there is a "g" and barely a "ght" on the bottom row...what else could it be?

If Music is the first selection, it would lend a different menu set for Music and the rest of this menu set could be for NEW features
