Texas, unfortunately.
so when would we know? does apple change the website starting at 12AM?

Not usually. If it were to happen tomorrow, it would probably happen in the early morning and be on the website at around 8 AM PST.

But even if there is an update, it wouldn't be more then a speed bump, as a redesign would more then likely require it's own Apple event.

i agree with you there. i mentioned it in my earlier post, but something as big as a revamp should have a keynote.

266 x 11 = 2926 MHz.

PROTIP: Intel is using 0.5 multipliers again under Penryn. That takes me way back.
Intel have always used x.5 multipliers. Why do you get surprised?

It's just they don't have to use every single x.5, processors too close to each other in terms of frequency would not make good profit as people would tend to buy the tiny bit slower ones rather than more expensive ones. That's why Intel would possibly go 2.4, 2.66, 2.8,and 3.06 with Montevina.

Aluminium == Solid Electricity

What do you mean?

it usually happens a little earlier than that, between 4-5am pdt.

not necessarily. the original macbook debuted without an event, a pretty big deal considering it was replacing the ibook. still, i really really doubt any laptops are coming out tomorrow. if i could place a bet in a casino sports book, i would. :)

I know it's a little earlier than expected, but I do hope they show up tomorrow [today]. I'm excited for the new design changes that have be rumored. Although I bet IF there IS an update tomorrow, it might be a small bump such as larger HD, more RAM, etc.

I think that if there is going to be a design change, we won't see it till either some event, or the end of summer.

:cool:Well dip me in honey and feed me to the lesbians!!!

I surely hope its just the mini getting an update. My Macbook pro was only purchased 2 months ago and would totally feel guttered if something along the lines of a macbook pro with blu-ray would come out.

I don't particularly believe this. It's a shot out of the blue. More normal recently has been several different sites reporting things as Apple finds it more and more difficult to keep things under wraps.

I'd be surprised if there is anything tonight as the processors have nowhere to go (the recent 3.06GHz iMac chip does not fit in with power requirements) and someone would have leaked any case design. Besides, I would fully expect a new design to be mentioned at a keynote event as we all know how much Steve loves to be first to tell everyone!

No sour grapes here, having recently purchased ;) , just seems very unlikely.

Not going to happen. WWDC at the earliest. Most likely a few weeks after WWDC, and even then, that will still be a VERY short refresh life for Apple.
I don't see what everyone sees in Montevina. The CPU upgrade is piddly. Faster RAM is nice, but isn't going to make much difference. Faster wireless is also nice, but seriously, if you want to transfer stuff fast, you can't go past a "blue juice" cord. The only thing the Montevina update will be good for is gaming, because it will almost certainly come with a new graphics card. That's it, really. Therefore, I suppose, if Apple's gonna do a case redesign, it's gonna be with Montevina. How else are they going to sell it?

All the juicy stuff comes with Nehalem. ~2x the speed, DDR3 RAM, integrated memory controller, maybe new GPU to boot, possibly SSD, probably first quad core MBPs, etc... All of this in less than a year.

I bought the SR MBP, and I'm determined to wait until Core 4, Sandy Bridge in late 2010 early 2011.

This will DEFINITELY not happen so soon. Go to apple.com. They are still advertising the "new" MacBook Pros!

Probs not...

Whilst I can't see an update and case redesign being announced today, I'm sick of hearing people say that it's too short an interval between updates.

Think back to Oct 2005. Both 15 and 17 inch versions of the Powerbook were updated and then the 15" moved over to Intel in January!!! Just short of 3 months between a MAJOR update there!!! Fair enough it wasn't a case redesign, just a switch to a completely different platform...

I don't remember there being an event for either of the major redesigns for the iMacs

Anything is possible with Apple and the only computer still showing as new in the Apple store is the iMac. We'll see what happens in a short while if the store goes down.

Exactly.

I also bought my MacBook (my first Mac so far) less than 2 months ago. I am happier with it than with every other PC I owned (except the gaming part of course, but am not a big gamer anymore). It does everything I need it for PERFECTLY. Of course I would like a fency backlight keyboard, multitouch (which I wouldn't really take use of at the moment) and maybe LED screen.

Case redesings? I don't want to be an early adopter.

I am waiting also for the next big thing in 2010/11. Until then, my MB will just do it's job fine.

But there is the faster FSB, 1066MHz, and DDR3 RAM. And its said to be built on a smaller chassis

I highly doubt Apple would release new MacBook and MacBook Pro models this soon. I mean, they took the time to comlpetely redesign the pages on their website, dubbing the previous refresh as the "New MacBook, New MacBook Pro, etc." After all that they are going to redo it again after only three months? It would be really confusing to me why they would tell customers they are "new" three months ago, then "new" again tomorrow, it's not good marketing in my opinion.

Actually, they'd only have to swap out the pictures... the new ones would still be "The New MacBook/Pro".
