Okay this is what I'm going to say. I think that it is feasible for the release to happen tomorrow because I think that Apple will be moving into a different direction with it's releases. I see Apple putting a lot of pressure on Intel to develop products that mold to their products like the Air processor but I also think that Intel is pressuring Apple to a different extent saying "hey, new processor, update your machines so that we can sell our greatest hardware". On top of that May seems to be a time of year that Apple releases updates for the Macbooks while June for the Pros.

However, this website is in my mind junk. I could very easily put up on my website that someone told me that there may be an update AS EARLY AS whenever. Think about it, I could have said a month ago that their may be a Macbook update AS EARLY AS April 21st and wouldn't I be correct? I mean it doesn't have to be on that day but it shows that there will be an eventual update. I mean I would love it if it updated tomorrow and I'm mad that I may have my hopes up but still this website lacks credibility even though I would argue that there will be an update very soon.

Do I thnk its possible? maybe. Honestly, I would have pegged it at the last Tues. of May. Far enough ahead of WWDC to separate it from that event. But not too far ahead of the actual product release in June.

Another possibility would be just a revised MBP, with the MB and its new Al case coming at WWDC. If the 3G iPhone is plastic, it would be a contradiction somewhat to make one product go from plastic to Al, then another product to go back to plastic.

Though I am eager to jump on a Al Macbook. I guess the big thing I look forward to is that the new platform - the slower CPU grades use less power, 25W instead of 35W for the faster (2.6Ghz+) mobile chips. The fastest 25W chip is 2.4/1066, which would be plenty for me, as long as its got that new GMCH inside that is supposed to boost graphics performance over the 3000/3100. I just need someone to sell my old MB to.

Don't see Apple coming out with an Aluminum MacBook. They will keep Aluminum for the MacBook Pros; plastic will stay with the consumer line. Apple wants to keep separation between the lines in both specs and looks.

That didn't quite work out for the iMac/Mac Pro 'separation line' did it?

Is aluminum more environmentally friendly than Polycarbonate plastic?

Aluminum requires insane amount of electricity to be purified. That's why it's much more important for Aluminum to be recycled. If Apple uses recycled aluminum - even partially, then it should be very environmentally friendly.

As for the introduction of new designs for Macbooks and MBPs, I would say that they would get Montevina with that, and I hardly can believe it's going to happen tomorrow.

I would like a Montevania Platform MBP with
2.93GHz Core 2 Duo (Penyrn)
1066MHz FSB
4GB DDR2-800
ATi Mobility Radeon 3800 with 512MB GDDR4 Ram
250GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Updated Screen 15" @ 1680x1050

I would be happy with this update.

Not me ,BUT,I will take 3-(three):D 2.4 refurbs off their hands for $1049:D:D:cool::apple:

Yeah I hear ya on that. That's what I paid for my 2.2 Black Macbook when the 2.4's were released. A really good deal that I just couldn't pass up! Well here's hoping that we both get our wishes--)) ;)

If the line was updated tomorrow it would be a God send, as I'm about to purchase a MBP!

Time to let my mind dump ideas...

MB:
Al casing
multi touch
keyboard backlight
monteniva early (apple pushing intel maybe?)
Dedicated GPU option (2600 or 8400/8500M?)

MBP:
Black keyboard
1680 x 1050 option on 15"
Monteniva early
Blu ray BTO (they cost around $100 to make, so an added $200 is reasonable)
new shape resembling air, drive on side
more USB ports
move to ATi for GPU (3850M in 15" and 3870M in 17" and BTO 15")

I would like a Montevania Platform MBP with
2.93GHz Core 2 Duo (Penyrn)
1066MHz FSB
4GB DDR2-800
ATi Mobility Radeon 3800 with 512MB GDDR4 Ram
250GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Updated Screen 15" @ 1680x1050

I would be happy with this update.

Montevina would probably have 2.40Ghz, 2.66Ghz, 2.80Ghz and 3.06Ghz speeds. 2.93Ghz sounds too in between.

I hope that 1080p screen for 15.4" would be available.

That "theory" has been disproved many times. There is a good chance the MBs will go aluminum. They might even come in different colors like the aluminum iPod nano lineup.

i don't think there will be any updates tomorrow. with something as big as a mb and mbp revamp, they would not announce it without a keynote presentation. plus, it's just too soon. anyways, unless the mb turns out to be 4 lbs. or lighter, it really doesn't matter to me. :D

this really sucks for the penryn people. everyone knew that the new mbp's were coming out soon but not this soon. but the current mbp is still a nice machine. i always think 'how boring' about the design but every time i stroke my hand over the cool aluminum in the stores, i think: wow!

The problem with this is the iMacs released last week have true Montevina. The real upgrade that Montevina will bring over the chips in the iMacs is increased battery life.

It's hard for me to comprehend that pre-Montevina chips are integrated a week before true Montevina. While the end result is close to null, it just doesn't make a world of sense to me.

However, I am expecting some kind of announcement tomorrow - just like last time, I think the new trend will be several updates in a row.

This is far too soon for an update to the MB/MBP - Apple does not want to anger a huge number of its customers. Maybe the Mini will get its update tomorrow. I see updates happening in July-Aug to the major laptop lines - before that makes little sense, though they've surprised us before.

One "advantage" for Apple being such a small customer of Intel's is that Intel is currently suffering a shortage of fabrication space to build desktop and laptop 45nm Penryns.

So Apple only needing (say) 10,000 units initially to meet their demand is a lot easier for Intel to supply then someone like Dell or HP who need (say) 10,000,000. Same with the Intel Mobile 45 Express chipset.

No way updates to the portables are coming tomorrow. The MB and MBP were just updated on Feb 26.

True,

Dell isn't even announcing their new Latitudes til June, with delivery expected in August. And intel, if someone can prove me wrong, hasn't even formally announced the new chips shipping yet, which I believe is going to be announced the first week of June.

Mac mini, now that's different ;)

I'm wary of this happening so soon, although I am excited to see what's next.

Hmmm

Wasn't this subject beaten up before on here? Someone made the STATEMENT about Apple not updating computers twice in one year?:apple:

Either way I'll wait untill 4 to 5 years down the road for what I do I have the best system going.:p

266 x 11 = 2926 MHz.

PROTIP: Intel is using 0.5 multipliers again under Penryn. That takes me way back.

Aluminium == Solid Electricity

We're not sure if the iMac's new E8xx series processors are desktop or mobile. Then again there's not much difference besides the thermal envelopes and interface. ;)

The shortage of 45nm components appears to be mostly with the quad core ones though.
