If you are tied into iOS thing then yeah, you don't have much choice if you want throw-away device. I think the closest competitor new SE will have in Android world is upcoming Sony 10 mark II that's priced about the same. Sony is the only manufacturer that can rival Apple in build quality and materials, Samsung and Huawei skimp on GG coating amount and have those horrible iridescent film finishes.

Would love to know if the SE will support wireless charging or not. Knowing Apple, it won't, which is a deal breaker for me (yes, a lame reason, I know...wtf you're an idiot, just plug it in, first world problem etc).
I thought wireless charging is a given? with glass back and "based on iPhone 8"

People like Apple because they use simple but reliable designs on their products.

Samsung changes their look every generation and all they get are exploding devices.

and look at how much more popular iPhones are compared to any Android phone. Guess why? because of the brand. You can recognize an iPhone a mile away, because of the distinctive look.

Some of you would run a business to bankruptcy with your ideas and it shows.

You perfectly encapsulated so many people on these forums.

They want a budget iPhone with an entirely new design to show they didn’t buy a budget iPhone as Apple should eat the cost of what they want without regard to return on investment ‘cause Apple GREEDY!

And yes, the wishlists here would put Apple in the poor house. While maximizing profit cannot be the end all be all, making money is ultimately what a business is in business for...but the obliviousness to reality here is astounding.

So... 12pm PST?
I’m guessing it will be next Tuesday or Wednesday.

The look of Samsung smartphones has been very consistent for a long time. Maybe more so than the look for iPhones. Samsung and Huawei phones happen to be more popular than iPhones too. You are inventing facts to support your assumptions.

As far as being easily recognizable - that's not a good criteria. Ugly things are easily recognizable too.

I know wireless charging is super convenient, but it’s so slow. The 5w, 7.5w max is just too slow for me to even consider.

Are you sure it’s really a dealbreaker? Is your use case such that simply getting an extra charger and cable would be as cheap or cheaper and charge faster?

FYI, I have a Xr and just cannot get excited enough about wireless charging to even mess with it. Just my 2¢.

It is slow, but I'm not leaving the house much these days so (I used 250mb of cell data last month).... :)

And I just got the Logi phone/watch/airpods charging station for my birthday from the wife and kids, so going back to plugging in would be a step backwards.

I wouldn’t think such a small iPhone would even be popular as now days everyone has gotten used to bigger phones, a SE screen is so small

Some of us use the bigger phone as a small tablet and the SE as our actual phone since the SE fits in pockets way better and doesn't have so much heft to cart around. I'll always go for a smaller phone as long as they keep making them. Everything else rates as some kind of "narrow tablet"... not that I don't love my XR, I just don't think of it as a cellphone.

One of my favorite phones was Samsung's Juke, what can I say.

Is this 4.7" the new phone? looks like they slipped it in under the iPhone 8 name.

If I had to guess, I’d say the new SE can be pre-ordered next Tuesday April 7th. Only because nothing was released or announced today and also basing my assumption off that Best Buy case stock date.

We’re three generations into wireless charging (8/X, XS, 11), so I really don’t think they’ll leave it out. Too many come to expect it now and if the 9/SE 2 is built on the old 8 chassis it makes sense that wireless charging is in there. However, weirder things have happened before!

I'm coming round to calling it an iPhone SE 4.7" :)

It's fairly logical to assume that the 8 chassis with an A13 CPU is a compelling solution. They'll only be taking out the 3D Touch to accommodate more battery.

What concerns me is why Apple would delay an iPhone SE 5.5" to later in the year. The logic there would be to bring in the 5.5 to sit $100 higher than the 4.7" and $100 below the 6.1" iPhone 11 which by coincidence has the same A13 CPU.

Nice little trio of sizes there.

Then we have the iPhone 12 which would sit below up to 3 iPhone Pro models.

From day 1 I thought that "IPhone SE" was Apple's name for a phone that reuses old parts with a new processor to produce the lowest possible cost phone with updated tech. Never understood why people got fixated on the idea that it would be a certain size (although I certainly *wish* it was).

Uhmmm. I use an SE 128GB and the size is one of its key features. In a pinch can do an OK iMovie, Apple Pay, my third SE.

Some people have their own truth and refuse to acknowledge the facts.

Samsung and Huawei are certainly not more popular than iPhones lol. In places like China or India most people would go for those brands simply because they are cheaper, but even there an iPhone is considered an ultimate luxury status symbol for the wealthy. That’s not to even mention in the west.. trust me when I say your average teen would rather have an old iPhone 6 over a new Samsung or Huawei because otherwise they’d probably get teased by their peers. Look at the phones celebrities/influencers/personalities have - all the latest iPhone. That’s what the brand is - iPhones are simply in fashion.

Android fans are a very small minority (though they are very loud)

Given the 8 and 11 are aluminium, I would assume this iPhone SE would not have a stainless steel frame?
