You're referring to the Macbook? That laptop is garbage. Can't believe Cook has the balls to put a price that high on something completely underpowered.

Yeah, kind of like Jobs doing the same thing, but worse, introducing the one-port very underpowered MacBook Air in 2008, for the much higher price of $1,799.

Holy smokes, the nerve of these CEOs...

This sounds exciting sans the butterfly keyboard. But maybe the keyboard may use the butterfly design but still have more travel. Guess we'll know in under 5 days.

What I don't really get is all the complaining about pro users not being able to use Macs for their work.

So maybe we're not classed as "pro" users
Great to hear how others are using their macs! I think your usage could very well be considered "pro"; after all, you earn your money with it.

I think part of the complaints are really unnecessary, the machines nowadays are just very powerful and upgrades (although welcome) only marginally add speed.

I have the feeling that lots of people are nostalgic and pine for the days where upgrades would really make a big difference. Intel would give you a new CPU and you'd either get hours of battery life or 25% higher speeds. That doesn't happen anymore, bit of a shame really :)

Get over it.
Typing is so much better on the new keyboards.
SHAME!
I type *a lot* and I loved the old keyboard. It felt fantastic every time I used it.
Then I got a rMB. Awful keyboard and more typos than ever before.
It growed on me and now I just cannot type anymore on the old style keyboard.

Today the old one feels like crap. It feels like putting my finger into a bag of loose keys.

Many of the people over here who complain about the new keyboard probably haven't spent more than a couple hours (days? weeks?) on it. You hate it and that is in par with my initial feeling. I'd gave up however had no option to change my machine for at least 2 months. Forced to use the butterflies I started to love them.

For all users that are afraid of the new butterfly design: be patient and give it a chance. Probably not everybody, but for sure many - if not most - of you are eventually going to love it.

I feel sad reading these comments... Some people keeps going on and on about Skylake vs Kaby Lake in the MacBook Pro. Do you guys even know what SKU's are? Intel's CPU line-up exists of several tiers and SKU's. Just because Intel has deliver a few Kaby Lake CPU's on the market is not the same thing as Kaby Lake being available in all tiers and SKU's.

The SKU's that Apple uses, especially in their MacBook Pro 15-inch models does not exists in Kaby Lake form as of today. They won't be available until Q1 2017. How do you expect Apple to ship the new MacBook Pro with CPU's that does not exist? Would you rather prefer that Apple goes one step down on their SKU tier and provide lower core-count, lower IPC and and clock rates with inferior integrated graphic chips just so they can ship them with Kaby Lake instead of Skylake?

As of today, the only Kaby Lake SKU's being widely available are the Intel Core M aka "ULV" equivalent CPU's suited for the fan-less MacBook 12-inch and the low performing LV models like i3-7100U, i5-7200U and i7-7500U. None of these are SKU's on the level that Apple normally uses in their MacBook Pro 15-inch models.

Apple is awaiting the Intel i7-7770HQ, but it's not available until Q1 2017 at the earliest. How can you be so stupid that you expect Apple to deliver CPU's that does not even exist as of this date?
I think many are saying that if Apple waited this long to update the MacBook Pro, they ought to wait for Kaby Lake. I don't necessarily agree with that. Given Intel delays, Apple might as well release this month. It is unfortunate that the Mac lineup has fallen into such disarray. Despite the rumors of what will or will not come out, I have to wait until after the announcement to make a judgement. However, it is sad to see the Mac Pro being left behind. I'm hoping it doesn't, but it hasn't been looking good lately!

What can they do with the iMac though? Its already running Skylake in the 27 inch the 21.5 is on Broadwell if I remember correctly there was no Skylake equivalent of the chip used in the 21.5 inch. I think they will wait for the appropriate Kabylake processors before updating the iMac.

The hard drive thing is classic Apple, the Mac equivalent of the 16gb iPhone, severely gimped device that only exist to make the base price point seem lower.

Sounds like a 5k external display over a single cable isn't ready yet which doesnt really surprise and the future of the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro isn't clear. I could see they both being killed to be honest.

27": They could update the graphics, and leave the CPUs the way they are until mid-2017 when a bigger update is ready.
21": A 5500rpm drive on a $1500 is just stupid. They could redesign the line to be all 4K, with higher end model at least shipping with a fusion drive and 16GB memory.

But let's say they don't do any of this, all of which would be minor bumps to simply have a 2016 model. That leaves everything but the MBP and a 1" bigger MB updated, when, ironically, the MB is the only one to recently have been updated.

Apple could go just about any way with notebooks. They could just as easily make a bi-annual run of 17" MBPs, as merge MB & MBA lines, as throw retina displays on tiny 11"ers, as postpone iMacs til Katy lake, as replace all ports with USB-c, as drop the standalone display completely, as go back on everything they've said and put OSX on a huge wall-powered tablet, or drop the Mac entirely and build OS's for cars and toys for all we know.

I think at this point I most look forward to Tim Cooks 4000lb pregnant pause and hearing how delicately he acknowledges that he's aware how long it's been and disgruntled people have gotten waiting for something to happen with the Mac. ...because he definitely knows.

First USB replacement for a pro laptop, thinner design, new bezels, new keyboard, new bigger trackpad with pencil support, new user interface to replace function keys with a screen... Don't seem much, making a Watch waterproof and selling the same phone but with a 7 would make a staggering keynote though.

I guess you're implying I thought that keynote was great?

I'm really hoping for colour options. Im kinda tired of the regular silver. Judging by the stats on popularity of iPhones. I'm not the only one.

First update in 4 years IM so excited!! This is much better than an iPhone keynote!!!!

Can someone explain to me why it'll include a 6th gen Skylake chip, when the Razar Blade Stealth (which came out in early September) includes a 7th gen Kaby Lake chip?

Surely the 7th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Dual-Core Processor with Hyper Threading 2.7GHz / 3.5GHz (Base/Turbo) would be a good choice for the 13inch MacBook Pro?

Can they just legit pull the plug on the Apple Car? I feel like this insanely slow upgrade cycle is directly related to their efforts to build a car that they probably can't do and nobody wants.

I really don't think the Mac team is working on the car.

Oh, you don't know what's different? I will tell you then. Their former CEO passed away and they hired a guy who has no clue about the meaning of the word innovation when it comes to computers. But he is a social justice hero and a visionary when it comes to watch bands.

Remember the "sales dude" John Scully, who took over the last time Jobs "left" Apple?
Time Cook is another such "sales dude" to take over after another Jobs departure(RIP)...

...its sad how history has a way of repeating itself.

Scully took over right when the Mac vision become fruitful and lucrative, then squandered everything Jobs and Wozniak had built. It took Jobs coming back to fix Apple and prevent it from going out-of-business.

Tim Cook will go down in history as the worst CEO to squander the best possible starting point as leader of a corporate empire. Everything Cook has been involved with is a failure from a Jobs perspective.
Watch.
Car.
Mac.
Hell, even the finder app has taken a back seat since Cook started burning Apple.
And don't get me started on metal.

Apple at this point is almost "too-big-to-fail" from a consumer business standpoint.
But the potential of what Apple could have been as a visionary & inspirational (and profitable) tech leader is gone, dead, buried.

25% increase in speed does not make much difference, if any, in day-to-day user experience in a typical office setting. In most tasks it's barely detectable (by the user).

Why AMD graphics for iMacs? Why not bring back the nVidia cards?
Apple flip flops on who can provide a better per-unit deal, wattage, performance, and that despite the upswing, AMD cards are still better than nVidia for OpenCL performance.

WHOOOAAA! That was a strong opinion! One that i couldn't agree more with! Harsh reality!

Is your post really meant to be 'Legit' or is this some type of silly rant about the Apple Car?

Why would the MacBook Team have any contribution to the Apple Car?

Second, what is it your thinking? The MacBook Team is switching roles for the purported "Apple Car" Team? And both teams are rotating simultaneously, building it each other's hardware specifications? But hey, glad
To read your anecdotal opinion on the Apple Car and its future. It all Makes sense now.

Where the hell is the Mac Pro?

I'm glad they're releasing yet another Macbook/Macbook Pro and another iMac but these have been getting relatively steady updates through the years. I'm genuinely getting concerned that the Mac Pro is a dead product now.

****.
The word Zombie immediately comes to mind for the Mac Pro.

It's really a shame the Mac Pro has been largely ignored for so long. It seemed like Apple was fully invested in that product several years ago with the release of the radical hardware redesign. How cool was that? What happened Apple? Did it not make enough money? Bad ROI? If yes, then at least man up and say something like the Mac Pro is not a financially viable product for the company. At least we would know and not keep hoping. Perhaps they have something up their sleeve but I am not counting on it. I remember the days when the Mac Pro was THE machine to have in the advertising and graphics industry.

What confuses me is why there are a lot of people who think Tim Cook is such a great CEO for Apple? I know there are other players involved with driving Apple, but, it comes down to Mr. Cook and no one else for deciding at the end of the day what is priority or not. He is the leader and chief strategist. I agree with an earlier comment that it will be clear to the public soon how much credibility is truly behind Mr. Cook's comments about so many amazing stuff in the pipeline. The only amazing thing I have seen is a lot of bull come out of Mr. Cook's mouth and Apple's marketing and PR machine. Sorry, Mr. Cook if you are reading this but I am just voicing how I see it and I have been a loyal Apple customer since the very beginning. Not anymore. I have very sadly lost faith in Apple.
