Isn't so much of this just a W. A. G.? I mean, I could say that Apple was going to release new MBP models with 12 core CPU's, 20 core GPU's, replaceable SSD modules, and would be available in 14", 16" and 18" sizes, and be just as accurate as many of the 'professional' prognosticators. *shrug*

I'm hoping for something sooner, as I can swap my 2019 16" for one. (COME ON APPLE!!!)

It's lagging... Like I will be typing, and notice that it's sometimes 3 or 4 characters behind my typing. I'm hoping it's not a bug, or hardware issue (SHIVER) as it's brand new...

If the new 16" model can match the performance of the 2019 16" (8-core, 5600m) with double the battery life and no Intel 65 degree idle, id be willing to put up with the workflow downsides and iOS-style limitations of big sur / ARM
I'm not sure if this is a joke or what. There are no "iOS-style limitations" of Big Sur or Apple Silicone, other than the limitations inherent in the M1 low power systems on the market. Those limitations have nothing to do with ARM or Big Sur, however.

The typing issue happens in all applications?

I must be weird, I actually quite like the touchbar on my Intel 16”. Use it loads, in particular, it’s a really handy volume control. I’d actually really miss that.

I like it too, but sometimes forget to watch it to see what it changes to do. Sometimes I would brush it while typing, and wake up Siri, or do some other surprise feature, but got used to lifting the (many) unused fingers higher.

I LIKE the Touchbar. I'll be sad to see it go. I think on this model, I can turn it off, which was a surprise. I didn't know it bothered people that much.

Dammit, I was hoping there would be new MacBooks Pro at WWDC, but I guess from this we know there almost certainly won’t be. 🙁 When was the last time Prosser was independently right about something?

They have always had a low end 13, but have never had a low end 15/16.
Waaaay back they used a 3-tier system, bracketed by the base model specs and upgrades. As an audio guy I almost always went with the mid-priced model, as it generally had the faster processor but lesser video card (which I don't really care about), then I'd do third-party upgrades for RAM and storage. Of course, upgrades are all BTO now, but I would kinda like to see the old 3-tier system come back... Mind you, I get that it won't happen, as pure BTO makes more sense for the factory-configured way of today.

I will say that I do think it's quite possible we'll see the new MBPs at WWDC—after all, the picture has 3 laptops, so maybe a new 13" and two versions of the 16"? Haha... I do think the MBP has enough "draw" in the developer community to make it a good product to launch at WWDC, but we'll see. Looking forward to what they announce, either way. Since Google killed Swift-for-Tensorflow, I'm quite curious whether they'll announce any significant progress in making ML development more macOS-friendly (CoreML/coremltools 4 was a big leap forward, but there's still lots of room for improvement in getting through the training-to-deployment process for on-device ML).

Seems to...

TOP isn't showing anything weird sucking up CPU squirrel cage cycles, so kinda baffled. Maybe I'm typing to fast? Nah...
I've had that happen in Word and then it's fine in TextEdit or some other application.

I went from a 16 inch to an M1 Air and M1 Mini---both machines are leagues ahead of the 16 inch, which I only had because I wanted a larger screen.

Video chat via Apple's MacBook Pro with 720 camera is almost embarrassing compared to other manufacters
onboard cameras
I suspect that will change when the true Pro M1's ship.

If that doesn't change, Apple will have some explaining to do.

Wondering how they will price these.. I’ve been holding off but have just ordered a base model 13” M1 MBP mainly because I managed to get a pretty decent deal on it (just over £1000 down from £1299)- part of me is tempted to leave it in its box just in case the 14” comes out and is a similar / same price as the 13” - other part of me thinks it will be such a big upgrade it will be no where near and should be happy with the 13” ahh!

Give me an M1 update with more RAM, 2 displays and pro features. TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

But it's not like you cannot use HDMI with current Macbooks. You just need a dongle. In fact, pretty much most Windows ultrabooks use dongles as well. The only difference is Apple sells the dongle separately, while most Windows OEMs include at least 1 basic dongle (usually USB-C to USB-A + HDMI) with the laptop.

I'd rather have a multi-purpose port like USB-C that I can convert to almost anything vs a single-purpose port like HDMI.
And, if the HDMI standard gets updated, you just get a new dongle with the new features enabled on it. There ya go, future proofing :)

Yes, still wayy better than LCD for the vast majority of real world use cases

I havent gotten the new ipad pro yet(Was going to trade in my 2018 ipad pro to get it) but was waiting for WWDC before doing it..figured mind as well trade both my 2018 macbook pro 13 inch and ipad pro at the same time, but hearing all this stuff about blooming etc makes me nervous..I mean for that kind of money I guess I want perfection but I know that doesnt exist no matter what the price..is that whole blooming thing even an issue or sorta exaggerated
