Curious to hear from others if the new MacBook Pros have MiniLED like the iPad Pros and causes blooming would you still buy?

I must be weird, I actually quite like the touchbar on my Intel 16”. Use it loads, in particular, it’s a really handy volume control. I’d actually really miss that.
I actually like it too - 15 inch 2019 MB Pro. What would have made it better would have been a physical escape key, which you've got. But I guess a lot of people don't like it...

I actually hope this isn’t true. If they introduce the new MBP redesign at WWDC then it will surely be the M1 or the M1X and it will not be the M2 chip.

No way they introduce the M2 before the fall. If they really introduce new laptops at WWDC then they must have a pretty jam packed fall line up.

Wondering how they will price these.. I’ve been holding off but have just ordered a base model 13” M1 MBP mainly because I managed to get a pretty decent deal on it (just over £1000 down from £1299)- part of me is tempted to leave it in its box just in case the 14” comes out and is a similar / same price as the 13” - other part of me thinks it will be such a big upgrade it will be no where near and should be happy with the 13” ahh!
Which retailer was that. I am almost tempted at that price too

Prosser's approach: "I heard it from somebody. Can't tell you who they are. Can't tell you how they know."

Ming-chi Kuo's approach: "I figured this out by analyzing the supply chain."

I can tell you whose approach I would put more money on...

Was through Very - it’s on offer at £1152 there at the moment and they have a 10% credit back deal at the moment so it comes to £1036 in total when they credit your account.

Part of me thinks I won’t get a new 14” anywhere near this price so I should just be happy with this!

Neither of them knew anything about the purple iPhone 12.

That’s great, thank you.
yes the new MacBooks are rumoured to be about 1700 for the 14 inch, so at just under a grand for the 13 is a bit of a bargain

That is a rhetorical question, right? Many here would buy no matter what. They have been waiting a long time for a 16." And the addition of Silicon makes the hunger even more real.

Absolutely correct. I'm in that boat. I have a 15" 2016 MBP with the original touchbar, and the butterfly keyboard (which I had to send in for a replacement using Apple's "keyboard repair program", since I was one of the many unlucky people for whom it basically failed).

I'm *desperately* hoping they announce a 16" MBP with an M2 at WWDC. I give 0 craps about the display technology details. It's Apple; I'm sure it will look awesome enough...and certainly better than the display I have right now.

It is possible that we could see new hardware at WWDC, unusual but then we are in unusual times and very few companies are able to maintain previously determined schedules due to all the COVID interuptions.

I'm thinking that's when availability will begin. Maybe October. But they might announce them at WWDC, and do their whole "Available Later This Year" thing.
That is certainly possible. That would be a long time to make people wait, though. I suppose we will find out shortly. lol I still think Prosser is wrong. He just made an announcement because he needs clickbait revenue and his ego can't take not being center stage.

Here is my take: they will tease the new laptops with a "one more thing" at the end, and just show the silhouette of the laptops and it will say "stay tuned."

I said this, repeatedly, long before Prosser. I also said they will have M2’s.
If the rumors were true, this Macbook Pro will probably the biggest backtracking Apple has ever done.
going back to magsafe, dropping the touch bar, going back to legacy ports. Although it will satisfy some youtubers to create more clickbaits, I would really question Apple's "vision." Do we really need those legacy ports, considering we're progressing more towards remote working and cloud (hastened by the pandemic)?

I thought Apple ditching magsafe for USB-C charging is for the better. This means no more expensive proprietary Apple only charger. All Apple needs to do is put USB-C ports on both sides of the laptop for versatile charging locations. Going back to the proprietary magsafe seems backwards, although it does give Apple more profit for people needing to replace their chargers/cables.

On a laptop, which one presumably buys instead of a desktop so one can take it on-the-go, makes a lot of sense to have an HDMI port. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out of luck with my MBP because I forgot my USB-C-to-HDMI adapter when in a client‘s conference room, a courtroom, or a hotel.

I think it’s entirely possible the 14 and 16” will be launched at WWDC however, a few things are making me doubt it:

1. Only rumours about an M2 are floating around, which surely will be launched after the September iPhone event, as it will likely be based upon the A15 chip.

2. If the M1X is coming to the 14 and 16 wouldn’t apple need to get a developer kit out to the developers first, like they did before the M1?

3. Last years software only online event was nearly 2 hours long with only software announcements, surely it would mean this years WWDC will be about 2.5 hours long if they include hardware.
