The glowing Apple is iconic... What would be a valid reason to end it?
the led backlight of new displays is more efficiently directed through the lcd and onto the screen, so that the few light left leaking through the backside is not enough to brighten up the logo uniformly and with enough intensity.

no, i have no clue, but with this one you'll have an interesting story to tell your friends in case they come up with the question.

p.s. tbh the reason could be about that.

I am beginning to wonder what is going to replace my current 2013 MacBook Pro.
Why replace it? It should be able to do everything that the current ones can do, performance wise. Not much has changed since then. The Retina screen was a huge thing and worth upgrading for. But is there anything in which your machine is significantly too slow?

Moore's law is no longer applicable like it used to be. Computers are no longer becoming painfully obsolete 2-3 years after you buy them. We've fortunately arrived at a time where you can buy a good computer and keep it for many years and still update your OS and apps as often as you want without any noticeable performance hit. At least that's my experience.

HAHAHA Apple is turning into a ****ing joke. Shocking design on the LG thunderbolt, shocking laptop prices, shocking upgrade options, and now this ****.

**** you Apple. Im staying in hackintosh. Wanna screw customers over, expect to be screwed back.

I'm getting pretty tired of all this Courage.

The power extension isn't really an issue for people replacing their old MacBooks.
When you spend $2000 on a laptop, you don't expect to be nickled and dimed for things like... an extension cable. This should be standard.

Also, why replace your old MacBook with this? Unless it's REALLY old...

What bothers me the most is that Apple didn't explain why they remove stuff.

When Steve Jobs released Mac Book Air without optical drive it was controversial, but you could see that he had thought about it a lot, why you needed an optical drive in the past and why it was not the case anymore. He also had alternative solutions, like an external optical drive that you could buy and software that would allow you to use another computer's optical drive, including Windows machines.

What was wrong with MagSafe? Why no SD reader? Why no backlit screen? Why the price hike?

I guarentee that the adapter doesn't have the little feet to wrap the cable around or the little clip to keep the cable wound up.

I'm buying the 2015 MacBook Pro when I need a new one. This new model is a ****** money grab.

I wonder how much the lack of the glowing logo will hurt Apple.

Every time you see a shot of, for example, a DJ using a Mac as his DJ computer, you will see the glowing white Apple logo there. It stands out big time and provides so much free product placement and advertising. Same thing with pretty much any photo of a bunch of people using laptops. The Macs stand out.

The lack of the glowy logo is a bit sad for me, but not a huge deal. But it may hurt Apple in the long run.

Yes i totally loves the glowing logo cause all guys and females can see i have big bucks 2 buy expensive things like apple computers and the iPhone k ow what i mean? When the logo is on everybody watchd u and wanna see who u r. Now with no glowing logo'll be worst men. Females wont note how expensive my computer is so why they do this ugly change? Radical

the best analysis and statement ever

Oh God you even have to buy the extension cable for your laptop :D
So not only can you not charge your newly bought iPhone 7/+ with the MacBook Pro without an adapter, but now this? Apple, you are a comedian at heart

So true, hilarious. Is there a $50 apple ziplock that I can store my dongles in?

Less is more, but now with Apple it is Less for More $

The glowing logo is nice but eye candy.

I use my extension cord every day..

So in addition to dongles, the extension cord is another thing I'd have to buy.. Assuming existing cables are incompatible.

So from my point of view, its pure penny pinching.. Timmy is showing his attributes as a bean counter.

The glowing logo is disappointing... but not exactly a deal breaker right? And how many people really use the extension lead? I've never used mine. In six years. Whilst it's $19 less 'value' in the box, it's actually better for the environment as it reduces waste.

237.6 BILLION dollars in the bank and no money to include the extension cord anymore?? If that isn't greed I don't know what is.
It's more than just greed. It's customer abuse, and it's a gamble that enough people are masochistic enough to go with it, but it might just work. Paying AUD$6000 for a laptop in 2016 will induce several psychological reactions in the purchaser, eg: Buyer's Remorse, Elitism, etc, all delusions to justify the stupidity of paying so much for so little.

Must be more money in iPhones than Macs if they're happy to start ****ing over their loyal customers with this ********.

Didn't buy a Series 1 Apple Watch as it has no mains adaptor. I certainly won't be buying another mac if they keep doing what they're doing now. The day they take the charger from the iPhone box I'll be moving to Samsung even if the phone explodes.

Those 1Password concepts are nice. I very much hope the TouchBar comes soon to the external keyboard (probably when they refresh the desktop Macs).

I can't wait for the new Apple keyboard. It will use that stupid proprietary bluetooth the AirPods use, and the cost* is guaranteed to make us all laugh.

*charging cable sold separately

Sigh. Now, it all makes sense why Tim was chosen as the CEO of Apple...he only cares about $$$. All that damn money and every product they come out with, they are removing this and that, and we have to buy dongles. Sigh.
