If that is true that would be one horrible update if you ask me anything short of Santa Rosa, better graphics card and bigger default HD would be worthless. Look at that Dell that was posted early today that is a heck of a notebook. I wanna see something close to that at least how long has it been since the last update seems like forever.

LOL That update IS Santa Rosa, a better GPU, and a bigger default HD.

God...

OHNO i just bought a macbook 10 days ago, do you think that they would give me credit if it was within 30 days or not? ahh what did they do last year? i could use a new ipod

Well, you do have pretty high expectations (after reading post #524). I've been waiting since January/February or thereabouts  So yeah, I'm pretty much willing to take anything.
I'm kinda sorta in the same boat having waited since then for an upgrade to the Mac mini. I want a mini to use as a media center for my TV.

A friend wants to buy my 1st generation MacBook. I'm trying to decide if I want to sell it and replace it with another, or opt for a pro model. Right now I won't even think of getting a pro model but I hope Apple will change my mind in the next seven days. I think I would buy a 13" MBP if Apple made one that was just right.

I won't buy it unless it has 256 MB of video RAM stock.

Otherwise time to save some money and stalk the Apple outlet store. $1499 for a 2.33 GHz MacBook Pro? Sure I'll buy that!

I have a problem with the appleinsider post ...

at nvidia's site there is not a 8600M GT with 256MB RAM, but there is 8600M GT with 512MB RAM!

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600M.html

Thoughts?

That link goes to the 8400M. But you're right, the 8600M page didn't mention a 256 or 128 model.... DAMN!!! lol

Whats a better screen screen Glossy or regular never really had that choice before.

Personally, I'll be getting the matte (not glossy) screen because of the glare that a glossy screen gets.

I corrected my newb post. :)

I was researching my facts before I posted and linked the 8400 instead. sorry folks. It has been corrected.

I sure hope that the displays on the updated MacBook Pro's tomorrow are LED back-lit. If they are not, I will be extremely let down..

I still think that update is garbage if that's what it's going to be. But that's just me. With the technology that is out there right now, paying $2,700 after taxes/shipping you should get a top of the line machine. Period.

Seriously, don't count on the LEDs guys. I'd say Santa Rosa, updated GPU and higher default RAM is plenty. If we get more, awesome.

The iTunes Store has just been updated and has a new ad on the homepage:

"Free iPod Nano with the purchase of a new Mac"

Yet the Apple Store has not been updated yet and doesn't say anything about Back To School 07..

What do you think the odds that big retailers (Bestbuy, etc.) will have the new MBPs tomorrow? Slim to none? Trying to decide whether to order online or go checking out the local Apple resellers when they open.

Actually, it'd be even better if my university tech shop gets them in... >.<

the apple.com site is starting to get slow and buggy. the exact same thing happened when the macbooks came out a few weeks ago.

or it could be all you guys lurking around on apple. hahaha!

I don't know where you are seeing this because I sure am not.

Reload the iTMS front page and look in the middle of the page, it should be right there. It will take you to your education Apple Store page or the Apple Store front page if you don't have an education page. The Apple Store isn't updated with the promo yet, but this shows that the Back to School '07 promo is indeed launching tomorrow.
