FYI, the new website blows. As of today pages don't even load on High Sierra and Safari.. "A problem repeatedly occurred with "https://www.macrumors.com".

Mobile seems to work (for now).

Anyone else seeing this?

It's working for me, using BrowserStack (which can run High Sierra Safari)

MacRumor home page loaded last night, but not again this morning. If I go into private browsing, it does load though. Seems like HTML/CSS/Cookie issue.

Hmm. Can you clear your MacRumors cookies and login again? See if that works?

OK. Tried that. Doesn't seem to help. The page does load, but as soon as I start to scroll, page error and reloads, and gives up after 2 attempts.

One thing that does seem to make a difference, is the width of the Safari window. If its wide enough to display the sidebar on the right (Guides, Blogs, Upcoming, etc), the page fails to load/scroll. If the window is narrow so that sidebar is hidden, the page loads/scrolls just fine. If I start with a narrow window, let the page load, then widen the window, it then displays and scrolls just fine.

are you using any extensions? Can you try disabling them? A private browser window might be replicating that

I logged in to change the the site to Light mode. The forum is now light-colored, but the Front Page of the site is not. Will you please enable Light mode for the front page and articles? I'm getting so tired of the dark background.

Thank you.

Unfortunately there are two sets of controls for front page and forums.

the light link for front page is at bottom of front page.

you can use this link https://www.macrumors.com/mr-toggleDark.php?mode=2

Well I’ll be damned, the ‘mark read’ indicator tab has returned on forum threads where the member can individually select ‘read‘ for iOS devices. This was a really useful feature that I didn’t think was going to return when the new forum migration launched back in October 2019, but alas, it’s back. Thank you.

Was there an update/change today? New posts/threads bolded font is a lot less prominent and not as easty to distinguish between read ones.

are you in dark mode? I made some changes that didn't intentionally change things, but might have inadvertently. Can you post a screenshot?

hmm. mine looks like this

are you on Autodetect or dark theme ?

@SandboxGeneral It's an entirely different font. Maybe your browser isn't finding… uh, I think it's Verdana… and is instead doing font fallback to a different sans serif font.

If you open up dev tools, pick an element from the page with the difficult-to-discern-between-read-and-unread font, what font family does it say its using?

Not auto, straight up dark mode.

Certainly possible. Though I didn't make any changes to anything. I was on my watched threads page and when I refreshed it at one point today I noticed the difference right away.

Edit: Well, it's on my end. It seems ublock origin must have updated in the background. I disabled it and retested some unread/read posts and it looks proper again. Not sure why the plugin would mess with the fonts when I never engaged that option before.

I think I fixed it.

I don't know why your font is different though

Is it possible you have a custom stylesheet interfering? I ask because in the screenshot you originally posted, it's in a font unlike Verdana, Arial, and even Apple's San Fransisco. If you look at the tail of the lowercase A and compare it in yours and Arn's screenshots, one is curled up and the other straight down.

I don't know how that could happen on our end.

No, I don't have any custom CSS for this site, or any site. Perhaps the difference is the font family's I have installed on my Linux box. Although, I have Firefox set to use a websites font's by default.

Cool new feature with the red number of unread threads/forums.

However, after I viewed everything, it still showed 5 unread. Then I went to and clicked the 'mark all forums read' button and the 5 unread alert still shows.
