All the more reason to buy one. My shopping list include the iPad and now the 4th gen iPhone.

the iphone wont be called iphone 4g, people will think that is means 4g mobile internet, it can be called... iPhone 3gs+

Please, please, PLEASE let me choose between 30p and 24p.

:sigh: They won't let me choose, will they? :mad:

Apple≠Choice :(

I'm still rocking my original iPhone or since it has a metal back it should be called the iPhone Pro Classic :rolleyes:

I'm being more and more tempted by Android phones at this moment in time. My girlfriend has had one for a little while and they are competent iPhone replacements.

I'll probably hold off until I am forced to upgrade either through breakage or get given one through work then it depends what they dish out.

Next iphone...

if the rumors are right:

The next iPhone is not a revolution....
the next iPhone is a new world !!!!

- higher display resolution
- front camera
- Improved back camera
- flash
- multitasking (the hole iPhone OS4)
- file sharing
- "wigets" (new iPod controls)
- Improved processor
- Improved battery
- Improved noise cancellation
- Video HD
- ...
- ...
- ...

ohhh boyyyy....

Sounds great but is worthless to me because I got my 3GS last year.

Too bad I can't just buy this at the retail cost without having to pay a ridiculous penalty because it's within 18 months of when I got my 3GS.

Oh well...

You can always buy it at the retail cost. No one's stopping you or giving you a penalty. Sell the old phone to get a little back.

can you not just get a payg? and see the rest of your contract out. sell your 3gs on ebay. It works out the same in the long run ..

Flash.................?

I believe apple are far too committed at the moment to review that decision in the near future.

Lots of memory...

You are going to need a pile of memory to support HD recording. Low Quality HD (5Mbps) takes about 2~3 GB per hour. High quality (24Mbps) takes about 11 GB per hour.

Also, without image stabilization, the resulting video is horrible (the defects are plainly visible in HD formats). The resolution of the camera at 5 megapixels is adequate for limited digital stabilization, or limited digital zooming, but not both.

That said, it might be adequate for a quick snippit.

I think it is a sickness that I always want the latest and greatest tech stuff.

i guess it is :rolleyes:

this:

public String whatYouGet(Phone iphone){
int capacity_min = 32;
int capacity_max = 64;
if(capacity_min/3== 10)|| capacity_max/3== 21){
return "10-to-20_hrs_is_fine_for_a_phone"; // minus 1h <=> 2-3 GB for system
}
else return "what_did_you_expect";
}

;)

It usually only takes about 12 months to be eligible for the upgrade. If you are you pay 199 or 299 dollars, extending your contract. If you don't want to wait you pay 399 or 499 dollars, while still extending your contract. If you don't want to extend your contract you pay 599 or 699 dollars.

Lol, do you want to film a movie on it? But, yeah that would be cool.

All my home movies are 24p. It'd be nice to be able to take all the iPhone stuff I shot while on vacation and mix it in with my normal footage.

I mean, I'll do that anyway, but it'll be nice if it mixed easier is what I'm saying.

If I had to choose, and this is what people like about video on DSLR, I would choose shallow depth of field, which implies a wide aperture for the lens. Whether the video is 30p or 24p pales besides the quality of the lens and and the aperture.

The other issue is what codec it is using, which would have implications for post processing.

BTW Apple is probably not going to put in an HD Video recorder unless it looks great. The rumors that it that the next iPhone has a 5 Megapixel camera. That may sound kind of weak because other phones are coming out with 8 megapixel cameras. Chances are though, the iPhone will have a much better lens than the competitors. According to the rumors we've seen.

I'm thinking he means a camera flash...something with a 6 to 8 food reach in dim light would be a good start.

He's talking about a camera flash (light source).

Yes, but will it have stereo recording microphone? now THAT will be totally 1998!

come to think of it - the iPhone HD does have 2 microphones, right? maybe the noise reduction mic can be used also for stereo video recording?
