Well I am sooo convinced by this "movement" that I am waiting for my new retina mini to arrive ! ...with iOS 7 ..what else ?

It's been a while and wanted to get an update on this movement.

So, how is that movement coming along? I had a movement this morning. Lots of fiber and coffee helped. :D

It's so funny, from what I see most people upgraded when iOS 7 came out, some whined about it a little, but 99% of them have completely forgotten about it by now.

After showing up on pretty much every page of this long thread all the "movement" jokes lost any humor they had (and that's giving them a bit too much credit to begin with).

If you feel you are not getting your worth from Apple products, then the best way to make Apple listen and improve is to vote with your 'money'....

A lot of ranting and raving on the MR forums, although is good for letting off steam, it's not going to change much.

I have been lucky, iOS 7 has worked seamlessly on all devices in my house (4, 4s, 5, iPod, iPad mini & iPad 2), so my $$$'s are firmly in Apple's pockets....
As I stated, that's exactly what I intend to do.

I'm glad that you're having great success with iOS7 on your devices. That's great news. (I know how frustrating hardware issues can be and wouldn't wish that on anyone) There was a time when all my Apple devices worked together smoothly and trouble-free and was willing to pay a premium price for that level of quality. The pricing is still there, but for me, the quality isn't.

I like iOS 7 so much more than iOS 6. I wish they would give a similar look to OS X. I'm tired of the shiny 3D stuff! It's getting old.

Things change. I started on Macs with System 7.5 on a PPC 6100. I've seen the look of the Mac OS change quite a few times since then. Even with OS X; remember the pin stripes?

And this is the same if you are running any other OS, desktop or mobile.

As far as functionality, everything works great here between my iPhone 5 and my 2009 iMac running Mavericks.

What cracks me up are the people still running Snow Leopard, and some old version of iTunes, and then they complain they can't use newer versions of iOS. Well, duh.

I run the iOS7 on the ipad 3, and it's great, ever since the update to 7.0.3 the system has been running great, much more fluently. There was a few keyboard and multitasking lags before hand, but have to say it runs really great now.

I can compare that it could run like ios6 if i wanted to, but then again both systems bring their own personality, design and features and the way they run.

;)

I don't see why you should boycott Apple products, because you don't have the option to go back to ios7. You upgraded to ios7 , knowing full well there was only a small window to get back to ios6 when ios7 first came out.

If you want everything new, then why are your still keeping your old iMacs? You keep it because it works. What is wrong with people using old OS? Just because things change, does not mean you have to use the new things. And I still not see how ability for revert back to old OS is a problem.

If you like the new OS, then that is great. I am glad that you like the new OS and it works good on your devices.

Being able to stick with older ios should be a customer decision and not an apple one.

Apple should not be blocking older ios ( within reason). Certainly ios 6 should be available at a minimum.

There is NO valid argument to the contrary.

Choice is a burden

Questions are a burden to others; answers a prison for oneself.

We are the collective, resistance is futile...

You do have a choice... Don't upgrade... Simple...

Hahahahhaha... You made my day... Thank you kind sir...

There was no warning of such a drastic change. Like most unsuspecting consumers, I got a message on my equipment about an upgrade and I upgraded. Luckily I have warned others who have no idea that the product that they purchased is about to be altered in a huge way

I really hate stupid posts like this. One thing Apple does better and much more frequently than their competitors is software upgrades. iOS 7 is leaps and bounds better than iOS 6. It's your fault you didn't do your research before applying the update. Everyone knew 7 was a major redesign.

That doesn't in any way negate or even downplay the positive aspects of having the ability to downgrade. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Proof that everyone knew?

Two points;

1. I find distressful that you have the courage of saying no-one forced... Please tell me then why ios7 uploads to iPhone uses gb of space and cannot be deleted if user does not want to upgrade

2. In todays world where people "try" to purchase/convince themselves, why is there no return to previous ios button

Frankly ios7 is overkill for iphone4 so unless you tried, your comments are more argumentative than value add

I totally share thread starter comments, I have an iPhone 4 in ios7 and it is good for trash

No, I have it on an iPhone 4, an iPhone 4S, and an iPad Air.

And if you think it is only good for trash, then send it to me - my daughter would love an upgrade from her iPhone 3G.

It's the beginning of the end. Mark my words!!!!

I just downloaded iBooks revamped for ios7 and it's an UG.

It's so ugly ugly ugly! Apple stuff used to be beautiful! This just isn't.

Have you tried highlighting in iBooks? Awful! I hate highlighting now and I used to do it because it was so beautiful it encouraged me to highlight just for the sake of it.

Bye bye Apple. Nice knowing you.
For the first time in years I'm considering jumping ship.

If you want everything new, then why are your still keeping your old iMacs? You keep it because it works.

First off, it's not THAT old, only 4 years. No, I buy used Macs from Mac of All Trades because I can't afford new ones. But as long a I can update this to the latest software, I'll hang on to it for a few more years. When I can't. I'll get something newer. I had my G4 Digital Audio for eight years. I upgraded the CPU, hard drives, graphics card, etc. When it wasn't doing the trick anymore I got a newer one. Then I got this iMac. It does everything I need it to do, for the most part.

What is wrong with people using old OS? Just because things change, does not mean you have to use the new things. And I still not see how ability for revert back to old OS is a problem.

I don't care what people use, but when they start saying things like Snow Leopard is better than Mountain Lion or Mavericks, I don't take them very seriously. I've used all those versions.

And because at some point new applications won't run on it. Then you will have the whining going on...

And Apple is going to stop supporting it. And the newer OSs are always faster and have more features. I switched to Mountain Lion just to have gesture support, and got a Magic Trackpad. But it was better than Lion, which was way better than Snow Leopard.

If you like the new OS, then that is great. I am glad that you like the new OS and it works good on your devices.

Why live in the past? I have a fairly new iPhone 5. Why would I want to keep it on an old OS? I could have gotten a iPhone 4 or some such crap. I enjoy software and OS updates, and have since my first Mac in 1994.

I had a co woker once that swore she was never going to use OS X, so she stayed on OS 9 on her PowerMac 7600. Guess who started whining that she couldn't access certain websites because of her old browser, and that she couldn't use Eudora (!) anymore for email, etc, etc.

She worked in the graphics field, but of course support for PPC went by the wayside. How was that working for her? Not too well I'm afraid. You are shooting yourself in the foot. Maybe not now, but by next year your chooses for software will start getting limited.

I think iOS 7 is really good. I like the new look, and the new features. I disliked a lot of iOS 6. It was kludgy, and had disparate UI elements, like that out of place dark blue alert that would pop up. It looked like a mishmash of elements designed by a bunch of different people crammed together. The design was poor IMO. I'm also really tired of the Aqua look. Those shiny 3D button and icons. How long has it been now? 13 years? It's old and tired and has been copied, ad nauseum. Look at Android? They couldn't even come up with their own look. So it's important for Apple to go in a new direction.

I'm also glad they ditched the skeuomorphism. That stuff was very childish.

Use what ever you like, but don't blame Apple for not standing still. This was the same thing when they went from System 7 to OS 8, and people hated the new look. And then from OS 9 to OS X, etc. And look how OS X has changed. No more pin stripes and candy colors. Then they ditched the brushed metal look. It keeps evolving as it should. They hadn't updated the look of iOS in a very long time.

Just like with many other similar views, that's all good and fine, but it doesn't negate or decrease the value of having the ability to use a previous OS version that is compatible with a device if someone wishes to do so. All of that would still be there and not really suffer from any of that.

Yes it does negate it and downplay the aspects...

The new iBooks design is really lazy. Just as lazy as the whole new theme the OS has. I do not understand why they let Ive get away with all this crap.

If the old version is no longer available then I dont have a choice. At some point I will need to restore and I will not be able too...
