Good point, since i am in Apple ecosystem now going to new ecosystems is not that easy. I am tech savvy but most people needs lot of help learning & catching new environment. I seriously wants apple to stay ahead of competition not behind. Face ID is integrated in surface pro 2015 and apple brought it now. Plus in many other things Samsung and google are leading.

Or it's just my opinion and I like the look of it.
When it became certain the X was going to have that notch I went ahead and jumped to the S8 Plus. Yeah, I don't like some of the UI differences, but others I do on Android. I wasn't interested in another iPhone 6 remake and after having this OLED screen I just can't go back to it. Here's hoping Apple gets it right for everybody next time.
Lol i also bought s8 plus midnight black and since then loving it. Way too cooler than iphone X. I have used android phone time and time again but apple is my first choice. After using & looking s8 plus i can say iphone x is not edge to edge display. Really disappointed design by apple, hopefully they will correct it soon.
Simple Solution. Don't buy it if you don't like it.
The notch doesnt bother me, its got the sensors so its meant to be there. I prefer its design over the S8 which I had for 3 months.
The OLED screen is the win here and the tiny bezels all around.
I'm surprised that more people are not making this observation.
I am a die-hard Apple fan but to me it is the Samsung Galaxy S8 that wins this beauty contest. Hands down.

I have no idea if faceID will move to other products, but someone has extrapolated that it will based on apples quote "...the future of..."
It would be great for laptops, actually. It actually makes sense for laptops.
The notch exists because of Face ID.
If Apple are moving to a bezleless design and want Face ID to become the ubiquitous way of unlocking Apple devices, then we'll have notches on out MacBooks and iPads, too.
No. We have a notch because they had no place else to put the cameras, sensors and speakers. On a MacBook Pro, or an iMac, unless they are going for a bezeless screen, they can put it elsewhere.
Might want to reconsider the reasoning there.

iPhone X is all about the notch. It reminds you have facial recognition and not fingerprint recognition.
It's silly to hide the notch when it's Apple's signature. Without the notch, it's just a rounded rectangle like an LG or Samsung.
The notch does not bother me at all and after using it for a day or two we will not even notice it as it will be a part of the experience. I have an Essential phone and after a day of use the notch did not bother me.
I don't like the notch, but I definitely don't like that.
I'd rather have the notch! IMO that looks worse.
I dont understand the people that actually say they prefer the notch or it doesn't bother them at all. In landscape video or games it doesn't bother you?
I feel like those people have no design understanding or sense of design in their normal life. When it comes to how they dress or their interior design choice. I picture all these people owning brown couches because it doesn't show dirt easily and looks OK(everyones owned a brown couch), owning a Hawaiian shirt, having horrible style with clothes, cars, music, artistic ability, food choices.. ect...
ITs those people that set up an flat screen hdtv on a wall and let the cable dangle because well its good enough and it doesn't bother them.
The perfectionist and the people that understand how things should look not just in phones but in everything understand it is a horrible design choice.
