So guys I sent in the rebate on my new copy of Office, so it is completely legit.

Couldn't I sell my old copy of office on ebay now though? I'll just uninstall and reinstall with my new installation codes, and then my old copy would be legitimate to sell no?

Don't see why not. Sounds fine to me. To be honest, you probably do REALLY need to uninstall the current version because Office 2004 doesn't do any validation.

help with rebate please

I just received mine and sent in the two rebates. Do you think it is safe to sell the software? Should I wait to sell it when I get the rebates back or is that being to safe?

I am filling our my rebates and I am unclear about this part:
The front cover of your product user manual from your product package

Mine just has the CD in the plastic product box......there was no manual. I'm thinking of an instruction booklet for this? Am I wrong? I got the Student/Teacher version of Office.

Can someone help? What do I need to send in for the $100 rebate?

Isn't there a little booklet inside the CD case? It's kind of a mini-manual. At least I assume that's what they're talking about.

In the CD case there should have been a manual. Mine is 29 pages and is grey. You just need to take the cover off this and mail it in. This is for the $100 rebate.

For the 2008 deal, you need to cut the top off the plastic box where the Certificate of Auth is and mail that in.

Does anyone know if this is for UK as well?

I don't think so....the Super Suite Deal PDF says:

Terms and Conditions: Offer valid in the 50 United States, D.C., all U.S. military bases with valid APO/FPO addresses, Puerto Rico and Canada on qualified SKUs purchased between November 1, 2007 and January 14, 2008.

Thanks. I found the manual they were talking about and the top of the plastic box. I think I'm all set! :)

Anyone actually got the rebate..

or at the very least see that Microsoft got the documents under rebatestatus online?

I mailed in my rebate form on November 30th, Friday, and have yet to see any status being logged in.

i cant believe if you dont have the original box you are no longer eligible this is just plain stupid

Good news update:

Just logged in to the rebate site and my rebate form has been logged in as received! The check is scheduled to be mailed Jan. 28.

Me too!

Actually, I always get nervous that something will go wrong with rebates, especially big ones like this, so thanks for the link :)

I thought it was supposed to be 6-8 weeks after release to get Office 2008 anyway, so why is 1/28 considered late shipping?

because I originally got an email that said it would be shipped on 1/7/07

Is this deal still active? I have 2004 purchased from academic superstore a year ago, would like to get 2008 cheap - hate to give MS any of my money at all, but it stills seems necessary.

Office 2008 deal

just got this... :(

I just received this e-mail from Microsoft as well. I called the customer support #, and they said that if you still want the product (duh), we don't need to do anything.

Do you think that Microsoft was hoping that they could save a few dollars by having some people cancel the order?

I'm confused, does Microsoft just send you the new Office if you've submitted the rebate? I sent in the rebate form, and checked online, and they have received it. Do I just sit and wait for my copy to arrive now?

Thanks for the link. Just checked my rebate and it has been received. Looks like it will be coming early February, about the same time as Office '08. I received the email from Microsoft several days ago confirming the order.

It appears that the Office 2004 is no longer eligible for $100 rebate. However, the rebate for 2008 Office Media is active through January 14, 2008.

Is it worth getting the $129 Student Office 2004 with rebate for free Office 2008? Or is it only going to cost $149 for Office 2008 anyway?!

Yeah, the $100 rebate was only valid on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving). Don't bother buying 2004 and doing the Super Suite Deal. Amazon lists Office 2008 H&S edition for $130.

Just checked my rebate status and the check was mailed out on the 8th. Cool. I havent received any emails about Office 08 though. I redeemed it online though at the website and mailed the box top with my receipt. Anyone else do it this way?
