whoa my miles a day are lowwwwwwwwww,, but then again ijust started yesterday,, I'm going to try to get at least one and a bit a day...

yeah, you just started. it's calculated based on running since the start of this year. just do what you can

I'm in. My nike is gimmeslack12@gmail.com, or just gimmeslack12 (forget if email is the ID).
I'm training for my first marathon. The AIDS Marathon in San Francisco, anyone else in on that?

great! we need you. hopefully ziwi will see this and send you an invite to the challenges

My mileage is down a bit this year compared to last year as my coach has dropped one of my run sessions in favour of another bike session for the time being. Am still increasing mileage in comparison to the last couple of months though.

well, just do what you can

gimmieslack - I will add you in in short order...

I was wondering about the nike+ sport band...say for example one has the Nike+ipod and the sport band and use them together - that would be a 'double dip' that could not be easily detected...theoretically each reciever would map to the ipod or band...interesting - some folks may see their mileage spike - or actually double with this item...

it does seem possible. but maybe nike+ would see that the workouts started at the same time?

My Nike+ is being weird, at the end of my last 2 runs (5.5 miles) the last .5 miles it gives me a 19min/mile pace which doesn't make sense. I really need to calibrate this thing at a track. Maybe tomorrow after work.

Either way, I got the clear DLO shell ($3.99 at Best Buy  )for my 2nd gen Nano and with the belt clip on it I can clip it to the side of my shorts or behind me and I don't even know its there. The nano is such a lighter device from my 80gig Classic.

not sure what's going on there. are you slowing down a lot, or walking?

that's cool. i never though about clipping it on the back of your shorts. i might try that sometime

Are you suggesting using two devices at once? If it did work it would be cheating, and thats enough for me to not try using both.

Also you have to link the foot sensor with any given device so I'm pretty sure you could not use one pedometer with 2 devices or vice-versa.

And twoodcc I'm not walking at all, no big deal I'll calibrate and hope it resolves itself.

talk about slow servers with nike... I plugged in my nano from my last run like 15 minutes ago and it's still not up yet oh wells. not like I'm paying for the service anyway.

Ha, 15 minutes. I expect an update every 24 hours at least, but yeah, I'm in no hurry.

ahaha yeah, im on this challenge that's for over 200lbs ers.. and I'm trying to stay on top 10 so I like to see where my stats are at all time... i think it's just that this nike+ thing is my new toy so yeah, I think in a week or so I'll still run and all but I won't care to keep looking on my challenges as much, not every 3-4 hours liek now :Dat least..lol

hey twood you probably already know, but if you didn't then it's pretty huge (IMO) you are in the top 10 runners for males between ages of 20-29 ...for distance...I think this numbers are only for Canada but it's still pretty insane i think...

it may solve the issue, it may not. so you're saying it says 19'00 a mile while your still running?

yeah they are terribly slow. and it doesn't seem like they're trying to fix the issue

yeah i used to be like that, checking the challenges all the time. but since so many people joined, the servers are so slow it's not even worth it

thanks. i'm not in Canada, so i guess that's the world. i just wish i could see where i rank from everyone. it used to display this when you went to the leader board. it would show the top 10, and then where you stand. i was in the upper 70's of everyone on nike+, at least at one point. not sure where i am now

Yes - I agree it would be cheating, thus my concern about the possibilities of it.

i see your point, and was/am concerned about the same thing.

Oh I don't know, I don't look at the iPod while running at all. But I've only put 4 runs on the thing so far so I will give it a bit more time before I come to a verdict.

oh ok. yeah give it some more time and see what happens

yeah i htink we still have hope, specially now that is warming up on the upper hemisphere, which i think a lot of MR users live in we''ll all start running more, well at least i hope so..

That's what I think. The data would match exactly across the two devices, and I don't think nike+ would count it twice. It's like if you put one of your old data files on the ipod again; it doesn't get counted twice.

Are you suggesting using two devices at once? If it did work it would be cheating, and thats enough for me to not try using both.

Here's a way to test.
1) Set your computer either not to launch itunes when the ipod is connected, or set itunes not to sync your ipod's data automatically.
2) Run with both, and connect both when you're back at the computer.
3) Reveal hidden files
4) Check for the .xml file on each device (I'm assuming the sportband drive can mount)

I'm guessing the .xml is only going to be on the sportband, OR it will be on both but will only upload once.

For my part, I'd just run with a sportband + a shuffle rather than a nano.

side note: What I said about my new sensor being more accurate than my old? I was completely wrong. I can't alter the overall pace of the run by more than ~20 sec/mile, and that's with a dramatic change in pace.

what can i say, i'm not surprised. and i don't think you are either

does anyone know if it is ok if my friend gets one too and he links it to his ipod and we run side by side.. is this going to work or is it going to mess up my numbers or somehting?

nvm found teh ansert ot his on the nike+ FAQ

I think Nike should really really make an iPhone friendly website it sucks I can t NRC my challeges on mi iPhone. Oh well. Soon we ll just get flash player I hope.

just do what you can. maybe walk some in your spare time or to class or something?

yeah, get the sportsband. i'm going to get it also.

btw, how is track season going for you? mine hasn't been as well as i'd hoped

It is not going the way I was hoping either. You see, last year as a freshman I could run a sub 5 minute mile and this year I can't get close. My coach said I show all of the signs of being anemic (I hoped I spelled that right :)) and I should get a blood test. He said I would probably end up getting some iron supplements.

yeah, if you did that, you could run with the nike+ all the time (or at least whenever you can wear a watch).

That is what I would do, at least during the summer. I would wear a normal watch once the CC season starts but during the summer, I would end up running between 500-600 miles in a little over two months.

500-600 miles in a bit over two months thats just insane to me...lol and here i was feeling all cool trying to reach my goal of 100 kms in 8 weeks lol

Right, bought a nano, nike armband, nike+ kit and some okayish sports headphones. Please count me in on this challenge thing. My nike+ id is wattso. Looking forward to it :D

Thanks

IN - Welcome and now start running...;) Add to the total...

FYI - there still seems to be 3 '0' miles in the 25K mile challenge...

sub 5 as a freshman is very good. that's better than what i did as a freshman.

i don't see why you couldn't use it as your regular watch during the CC season, since it does function as a stopwatch as well
