Man, it's that 500GB hard drive. I thought about doing that too, until I saw it turned my order into a 3 - 4 week wait from a 3 - 5 day one. I figure I'll just buy a 500GB from newegg.com for $340, it's only $70 more (edu pricing), and that way I'll have a spare 250GB drive from the iMac I can put in an external case. 750GB total, only $70 more!

Mine Shipped!

"Package data transmitted to FedEx" I am so excited that my iMac just shipped! It said estimated shipping on the 24th and estimated delivery on the 27th, now it says estimated delivery on the 26th. There is hardly any data on the FedEx page but, as soon as it says where it's shipping from I'll let everyone know. I upgraded my shipping when I ordered on the 16th for $33 for 2-3 day shipping so we'll see when it comes. I'm so excited! :D I can't wait! :)

Mine is out for delivery right now. Here's the path that mine has taken.

Shanghai -> Anchorage, AK -> Memphis, TN -> Dallas, TX -> Greenville, TX -> ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll post up my review later. This is the first Mac that I've owned since my old Mac LC II. It has been a long time and it feels so good to come back to the Apple fold.

mine is here!! but i'm in a college dorm, and they don't put out the mail until like after 5:00pm or so, so i have to wait til then to get it :( . but at least it's here, and it's here 2 days early. i'm happy

Left Shanghai, off to the old world

My iMac 20" / 2GHz / 256MB VRAM left Shanghai today. Let's see how long it will take TNT to get this package to Germany. But for now, I have some work to do. I got to clean up my desk and make room for a 20" mac! :D

Well I'm trading in my DTK for the "free" iMac and it shows being picked up in Middleton,Pa.

FREE?! FREE you say?! So did all the DTKs get "swapped" for a new iMac? oooh heck! Which model? Makes me wish I had joined the DTK program!

Now it's on the move...

Ok acording to FedEx the package was picked up @ SHANGHAI CN today. With the note saying "Package received after FedEx cutoff" What does that mean? Is it good...or bad? :( I hope it doesn't mean it'll be delayed...

Screenshot is below, this is odd eh? Hope it comes soon :D

Just ordered a 20" 1GB with 256MB VRAM last night, a big step up from the two Macs in my sig, my first ones ever. I need the new Mac for recording and editing.

It means that it won't leave the Fedex hub in Shanghai until tomorrow. Same thing happened to mine, but once it was on its way it was travelling at the speed of light. Mine left China on Saturday and was delivered to my home near Dallas, TX this morning.

That being said, I hate Fedex. My new computer that I just spent a whole ***** ton of money on arrives at my house in a wet and dented cardboard box. Thankfully Apple packages their computer well and the water never made it all the way to the computer, but both the inner and outer boxes have water damage. I had to go home during my lunch break to make sure that everything was ok. They left a note saying that if something was damaged I could file a claim. Luckily everything was ok.

First impressions:
- This thing is fast. I only used it for a few minutes, setting up my user info and stuff, but it flies. I can't wait until 4:00 this afternoon when I get off work so I can go home and play with it some more.
- The screen is awesome and the built in iSight camera takes really good quality pictures. I wanted to play a DVD to see how good a movie looked on it, but I had to get back to work.
- The Apple remote is just too cool..... 'nuff said!

Once I get a chance to really play around with it I'll post some more.

You call that a big step up? Then what am I doing... a giant leap from my iBook 500MHz G3 ;) .

I'm interested to try some encoding on these, specifically H.264. I was encoding a video on my 20" iMac G5 2Ghz the other day, and I couldn't believe how long it took to encode just an hour of video. I hope the new Intel Macs can do it faster.

So I guess that extra $33 I paid for 2-3 day shipping ment nothing to FedEx. Argh...now I have to wait even longer...come on :(
