Well it seems that my iMac is still in Shanghai, China and it's status is "At local FedEx facility". It may just be my local and the China time screwing with my head but, I think mine should come on Wednesday. Because it shipped on the 23rd (I think) and I had 2-3 day shipping, also it said estimated delivery on the 26th (If they are refrering to the 26th China's time then they mean the 25th my time which is tomorrow!!)

Oh why is FedEx mocking me? I wish my package was out of China already :p :D

My iMac sat in China for 2 days, before moving to the Phillipines, then finally to Alaska, then Indiana, and finally to Boston where it was delivered this morning.

Don't get your hopes up about receiving it tomorrow. Even though it says the 23rd, that just means billing info was received it wasn't actually picked up until the 24th.

I'm guessing you'll have it by Friday.

that's exactly what my fedex tracker says so I guess my imac is sitting next to your imac then wherever they are. I called apple to complain about them pushing the shipping date back (I just bought the standard 17 inch last week) and they gave me a 30 dollar credit, but didn't offer RAM like some other people got, although I doubt they just mail out sticks of RAM. Oh well. I'm getting really aggravated.
Well I paid extra for the FedEx 2-3 day shipping....so either it'll leave China tonight and arrive tomorow or I'll call up Apple and give them a peice of my mind...I want my iMac! *shot* :p

Well did you pay extra for the 2-3 shipping? I did and I hope they realize that or I'll call up Apple and try and get it refunded because if it takes more than 3 days I just wasted my money. It would be nice to get it sooner than expected but, who knows... :(

Mine has an estimated delivery of tomorrow, but the current tracking info says that it's at the local FedEx facility.

I'm thinking FedEx may hold it until tomorrow, but there's a possibility it has already gone out on truck for delivery, and the status just hasn't been updated yet.

Doesn't matter too much to me, though, as I ordered a 1GB stick from a third party and I won't get it until tomorrow anyways.

After years of PC, can't wait to own my very first Apple computer ever! :)

Well whoop-dee-doo! I just got off the phone with Apple (again) and APPARENTLY my iMac has been set back to the 2nd Feb (from 20th Jan --> 26th Jan) So I'm not a happy bunny. however as yet I haven't got an EMAIL from Apple to tell me of the fact, last thing I heard was it would be dispatched on or before the 26th. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I'm not a happy bunny! :(

What's worse is that half* the people on this board who bought an iMac after me (same spec or higher) have already got their macs. It almost makes me wonder if they have run out of British Wireless Keyboards! I just wish they would get their acts together and tell me when my mac will realistically ship. Hell I could have waited and ordered a MacBook Pro and I'd get it at proactically the same time (assuming that this gets delyed yet further....OOOOOOOOOOOH I'M SO MAD!!! [/RANT]

Uber

*Gross exageration, between 10 and 15

I can only imagine how you feel. I had similar experience with my Rev A, G5 Powermac back in 2004. Nothing really changes.

It's not a british keyboard thing, did you add the bigger Hard Drive per chance? All those people with bigger harddrives haven't shipped yet.

I dont think it's a priority system with Apple or even first come, first serve basis.. It's just plain pot luck.

Mine wasn't supposed to ship till the 25th, so i'm a day early.. :)

Same with me. Still in Shanghai, 2 days now. :( My iMac's coming via TNT, but it seems FedEx and TNT aren't so different after all. Hopefully, it'll get moving by tomorrow.

People... TNT do not handle the delivery until it's delivered to them in Arnheim hub in the netherlands.

A different courier company handles the journey between Shaghai and the Arnheim Hub hence the reason it takes a couple of days without any update on our tracking details. Also leads you to the impression that it is artifically still in Shanghai when it is not.

It's a case of just being patient I'm afraid.

My iMac shipped today, but I dont expect it to make it to Arheim hub till earliest Thursday and more than likely Friday. Feck all happens over the weekend, so by next Monday/Tuesday it should make it to the UK and then hopefully by Wednesday next 1st Feb it will be out for delivery here in Ireland.... Hold on of all the day's I'm in each week, that's the one day I have to go to hospital for a renal scan.. arghhhh ;)

Intial Impressions are this thing flys even with 512mb of RAM I can't imagine how fast it would be with 2GB. I'm a musician and use Finally and Reason quite often, so I will test those under Rosetta later on Tonight or Tomorrow, and will report back with the results.

Reason likes a lot of Ram anyway, more than 512mb when running Native. When running through emulation it's gonna need a sh**lode more.

2gb may seem excessive, but until all apps are native your not going to get away with 512 for rosetta apps.

i just installed Finale, and it is FAST. Faster than my PowerBook. I'm really surprised at how well this is performing.

I'll test reason later.

Oh you make me mad...soooooo mad ;) Only for your early shipping, you have to understand!

As for the hard drive I ordered the standard 250Gb so it's not like I'm in the same boat as the people waiting 4 (four!) weeks for their iMacs. *touches wood* PLEASE DON'T TAKE FOUR WEEKS!

As Vince Lombardi famously said: "What the Hell is going on here?"

It's now almost 6:00 am on Jan. 25th in China, and mine was supposed to ship 1/24. That had better mean that mine will be going out first thing this (China) morning, so that it still almost goes out on the 24th (America time). I would at least like for apple to update my estimated ship date, so that if it is way out in the distance I can cancel and go with Amazon.

Oh don't get too excited - Apple will NOT update your estimated ship date on the net! That would be far too complex! (Don't get me wrong, I love Apple. I'm just a little hacked off right now!) If it's not a custom I'd order the iMac from Amazon (in my humble opinion)...See what other think though. I need the discounts I can get from Apple! :D

Just ordered the iMac :D

Got the 20" configuration w/256mb vram and will be installing my own 1gb chip for a total of 1.5GB ram. Also got the bluetooth keyboard (but not mouse), I'm ordering the Logitech V270 - seems like a better bluetooth mouse than the Apple mouse, has scrollwheel and right click...Wish Apple had a wireless Mighty Mouse! I also got the mini-DVI to VGA adapter for my external flat panel (unfortunately not dvi). This baby will fly! Estimated ship date is Jan. 31, ETA Feb. 7. I hope I can wait two weeks!

Oh ok, that's good to know. I find the whole courier thing quite fascinating actually. It seems unreal to me that in Shanghai some poor workers are heaving my heavy iMac into a plane :) . Those iMacs are sure seeing the World!

That's the part I'm not good at... Time goes by so sloooooowwly now :(

Actually, I'm in a similar situation. I have two doctor appointments this week (one is a scan as well). Lucky as I am, the courier will probably knock on my door, every time I leave the house :p .

For those who have shipping delays you're in some luck....Call them and tell them you want to cancel the order and most likely customer service will give you a $75-100 discount. Twice it has worked for me on top of the student discount.....give it a try!

FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE, MEMORY SHOULD BE MATCHED.

EX. 512MB + 512MB

google around and you'll be suprised that you actually lose some performance when chips are not matched ! !

[excited school child] OOOOH! Oooooh! Really?! [/school child] Well I shall have to give that a go. I tried getting some compensation but I didn't think about threatening to cancel my order. A cunning plan!

How about 1GB + 1GB ?:D

Wait does the iMac have a Dual-Channel RAM feature? I forget what it's called, it makes it run quicker or something, I've seen it on PCs before...But, it's not listed on Apple's site... *continues to mumble*

Uhoh...does this mean my system won't run well if I put a 1GB chip in with the original 512 chip?

original 512 and 1 gig

I put an additional 1 gig chip on from Crucial and my iMac runs great. Infact it runs much better than when it had only the original 512. You should be fine.
