Well, I now have to go through the hell so many of you have gone through already.

My first ever Mac has been shipped - five days earlier than expected!
Code:
Jan 25, 2006 5:56 AM Package data transmitted to FedEx
I have bookmarked the Fedex tracking site and can suffer with the rest of you updating the page every couple of hours.
Don't you mean every few minutes? Haha :D

My imac is lazying around in China still. It says "At Local FedEx facility", i do hope it leaves there soon, it's estimated elivery is on the 26th (tomorrow), so if it doesn't budge today I hope it can make it to New Jersey in one day or I'm calling Apple and asking why my paid-for 2-3 day shipping isn't that :(...heck maybe I can get my $33 back haha :p

Crap.
I hope I don't see that on my tracking page...all I need is a bigger delay >_<!

Now this is odd.....

Ok if you look at the attached image I showed previously here you will see that @ 11:45 was the last action. Now I reloaded the site and a note was added before 11:45...what is FedEx doing going back in time? Or is it now merging the USA time and China's time? This is driving me crazy? I don't know why they added the new note...it says

Code:
9:05 AM Picked up SHANGHAI CN Future delivery requested

Is this good? I hope it means it's on a plane somewhere coming to me :D

I'm puzzled on this one.....:(

Maybe you're screwed like I was, until I said screw you apple store, I'm buying at Amazon. Made the purchase today, and my iMac is going to be here TOMORROW. Great stuff.

Same thing happened to my order. After one day of my package waiting in Shanghai, I was informed that my order had actually reached Shanghai two days before. Some dude told me that this is usually due to the IT department entering the tracking information: Different people are responsible for handling incoming and outgoing packages. Therefore an input could be processed later than an output.

Aaaaanyway, I just reloaded my tracking site (for the billionth time), and I'm happy to say that my iMac has reached Arnheim: European ground!!! :D

Well I couldn't of had my machine custom built from Amazon and I couldn't have got my education discount, and I'm sure they are all shipping from the same place. It's not like Amazon has a "secret" bunker full of iMacs that Apple doesn't know about. They are all taking their time to get to their destination, once the orders are done and the item is shipped it's only a matter of time before it comes to you. Some packages (like mine) are just taking the scenic route.

I guess that means that the package is still in China possibly and FedEx is just messing with me...:( They are reading this thread and laughing right now, I guarantee it haha...I still don't understand the "Future Delivery Requested" thing...:( Please don't hold it back longer.

I'm happy your iMac is closer to you though. Maybe if one starts moving they'll all start moving. :D

That's virtually all incorrect. No, you couldn't have gotten your education discount, but the computer is STILL cheaper at amazon, because you don't have to pay tax (about 100 bucks) and you get a $125 or $150 rebate. My order was about $150 cheaper using Amazon than my apple order, just enough for me to order a 1GB stick of ram.

Also, regarding Amazon's "Hidden Bunkers". I believe you are incorrect as well. What happens is, Amazon will get a shipment from apple for however many they have negotiated with apple, probably a few thousand iMacs. Then, they sell them out of THEIR warehouse. That way, they can control shipping and such. So, once Amazon got ahold of their iMacs, which was sometime early last week, they can control how quickly you get them.

I think the only thing we can all asertain from this is.

Apple's shipping policy no matter where you are in the world - sucks ass and 'does not make sense' (like the chewbacca defense in SouthPark :D )

I keep checking every hour but still says :-

I think the airport staff were still a little frazzled from Chinese New Year :D

Anyway it wouldn't have been good for me to purchase from there anyway, the $150 discount would not have covered my AppleCare (which has an education discount), Additional Video card (which has an education discount), and my pre-installed software (which has an education discount) Amazon would be a good choice if your not adding on things but, for me, it wasn't a choice, I had to go through Apple Online, heck they didn't even let me get a custom one at the Apple store :(

Actually, Chinese New Year is on Saturday. As my wife is Chinese we will be celebrating then (hopefully with an iMac providing the music) :).

In total my iMac appeared to be in Shanghai 3 whole days. I also wonder: Why does it take that long? Heck, I've flown to Shanghai a few times in around 10 hours, and I'm heavier than an iMac... i think :p

Anyway, I'm pretty sure your iMac will appear on the other side of the world shortly, just like mine did a few hours ago.

Cheers,
Marvy

Has anyone else's FedEx tracking number stopped working? Mine appears to no longer work, it says "Not tracked - Sorry, we are unable to process your tracking request. Please retry later, or contact Customer Service."

What am I to do if I can't track my package every 3 minutes?! *panics*

Oh lord, no...NO!!! I don't know. DON'T PANIC! *panics* Just remember to breathe *breathes*. Oh I hope Shanghai's Fedex warehouse hasn't been destroyed in some horrific Apple related disaster (on un-Apple related disaster[obviously an Apple related tragedy would be more....tragic])

*Touches wood*...*really hard*...*bangs table over and over and over!*

I just got mine about an hour ago and have been playing around with it. I'm definitely impressed with the speed, having upgraded from a 400 MHz iMac and 1GHz PowerBook. I haven't tried running any Rosetta apps yet because I can't decide if I need to partition my hard drive, so I haven't moved anything over from my old computers.

So far I'm amazed. It looks great!

Phew *wipes brow* No Apple related dramas then:rolleyes: Shame to hear it's still in China.

Got my 20" iMactel in yesterday, slightly ahead of schedule.

I love it! Powerful, quiet, fast, sleek...even the wife is really impressed.

Whelp, I guess I'm done buying WinTel PCs ever again...

Doh! i knew that :) Gung Hay Fat Choi to all chinese out there.

I spent an age as a youngster going to chinese school on sunday learning cantonese with my best friend. He was chinese, I'm not...

Only time it ever came in useful was when I went to uni, I got a part time job teaching English to the young chinese kiddies...

(I once got thrown out of a Jackie Cheung concert  very embarrasing - only blonde haird westerner in the audience too... An experience I'll never forget - though I try ;) )

I mentioned earlier the reason we dont see an update is that FedEx or TNT do not actually handle the journey in Shanghai... It's a different courier company entirly and until it actually meets up with the company listed's HUB in TNT's case Arnheim in the Netherlands, not sure about Fed Ex, the status of our order remains stagnant at Shanghai......

I could use someone like you. I'm currently attempting to learn Chinese at my University with little success. It has helped a bit to actually go to China, so that I can atleast differentiate the tones a bit.

Sorry for being so OT, but: Why did you get thrown out???

Yes, you did say that. But I still don't understand why that mysterious courier company in Shanghai is so dang slow. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that I'll have my iMac by tomorrow or Friday.

Well..
I was in the audience with my best friend and a couple of other people when a lot of people were getting up and walking to the stage, where Jackie would walk over bend down and shake their hand.

Near the end I decided to do the same. I don't know what I was thinking... So I got out my chair and went to the stage and all of a sudden this MASSIVE security guard jumps me..

He begins pulling me back from the stage. At this point Jackie is over and reaching down with his hand to meet mine and I'm getting pulled further away and he's struggling to reach. He's almost on the verge of plummeting off stage..

Then another guard grabs my other arm and both drag me off out of the arena.

What happened next is from my best friends words as I wasn't there (obviously)

Jackie stopped singing and said he couldn't believe what had just happened. That they had just dragged off his only english fan (well white one anyway) and how he saw me in the audience singing along and couldnt believe a westerner would know all his song words.

He then made a joke about it being racism, that they singled me out (even though the guards were english) and said they should bring me back in.. He stopped singing completely at this point..

Unfortunetly they didn't and only ten minutes later the concert ended...

I felt so embarrased waiting outside whilst hundred and hundred of people left the arena all nodding to me and winking.. I could have crawled into a hole and died...

I thought I got over the whole experience and the next day or two I went into local chinese supermarket to pick up some stuff, and guess what. In the SiYu chinese times they had a picture and said what had happened

NEVER AGAIN :)

Well there's my dirty laundrey washed in public

That is so AWESOME! I would be so proud. Heck, I'd have the newspaper framed above my bed embedded in a shrine. :D ...and on a side-note: what a great way to meet Chinese girls :D.

Well, this is true. You have to remember, Mac's are like herd animals....They travel in groups. If one gets going, the others follow behind. If there's a bock in the road or an impassible river, the whole herd will get stuck. To me, this sounds like a herd of iMacs got spooked.

Well, my iMac is still at "Package data transmitted to FedEx", which I think is somewhere in China.

My printer I simultaneously ordered came today, though, and it's reeeeal nice. Canon Pixma MP450... fancy. I'm not even gonna plug it in or turn it on until the iMac comes, though! They were meant for each other!

Well mine has been in Alaska for more than 24 hours now. This afternoon it starting saying Int'l shipment release so I think it has cleared customs. Hopefully it is taking a red-eye tonight.

That is one of the funniest things I've read in weeks. Thank you! :D
