Wrong memory

I installed Muskin DDR2 Notebook Memory from Newegg.com (2x1GB) in my iMac and it runs great! I couldn't be happier, this is the best! I love it! I'm now off to install applications and test out with Rosetta :):D!!

Congratulations on your new iMac, but you bought the wrong memory. It will work in the iMac but it's slow.

You ordered the DDR2 533 memory. The iMac requires DDR2 667 memory. Of course the slower memory will work, but you're going to hurt performance. You should return the memory if you can.

Here's a link to the correct memory:

You just reminded me that I need to order a 1 GB module - and Crucial is out of stock!

datamem.com has 'em in stock, I got mine in two days! It was $108 when I ordered, but I think they raised the price to $115... still cheaper than Crucial!

My experience of previous orders tells me if it's in Arnhem you'll have it tomorrow morning - I always haven mine within 1 working day of arriving at Arnhem...although I'm very near E. Midlands Airport where they fly UK orders too (all of them? - I'm not sure)

Uber

That's my experience too but this is Friday and I don't think they move any of these packages at the weekend so I doubt I'll have it until Monday morning or Tuesday.

My orders used to go through Edinburgh airport but the last few have gone through E. Midlands. I think at some point last year they changed it so everything does indeed now pass through E. Midlands.

I'm not stupid, or crazy, I'm not returning the memory, this is fine. The System Profiler says it's 667mhz which is funny, haha. I knew of the speed difference before I purchased it and I don't mind since I saved a good ammount of money and I highly doubt you can notice the difference. This thing runs great and I am positive that it can't run any faster. I do my research just before buying things, so I knew what I was getting and I am very satisfied with the result...now where did I put my Sim City 4 disc...

Wow. You're tempting me to buy the slower speed!

What do you guys think? This could save us all a great amount of money. These 667 modules are so hard to find.

Well they may be cheaper, but they will definately NOT run at 667MHz, no matter what system profiler says (which is probably just reading the bus speed anyway).

Yippee de doo dah, yippee de yay, my oh my what an apple filled monday :D

Looks like after the scare on the update page I can finally expect mine on monday coming.

Call FedEx, and when you get to the automated menu press 0, this will bring you to a live person (after you answer a few questions) and the peron will give you MUCH better information than the web site. This is what I did and I couldn't be happier.
Would someone provide the number to call FedEx for shipping information? I'm having trouble finding the appropriate number on the FedEx.

EDIT: Got the number. This particular operator was not too helpful. My iMac is apparently still sitting in China.

Well I've had it for a couple days now, and tonight's the first time I've had a chance to really sit down and play around with.

1. Kind of annoyed that Flash doesn't work yet, but oh well...I'm sure there will be a patch soon.

2. After waiting all that time for Cisco to release a version of VPN that wasn't all glitchy with Tiger, it looks like I'm going to have to wait yet again for them to release one that works with the Intel Macs. Can't seem to get it to run at all.

3. Office works fine; Dreamweaver seems to work fine although it loads up hella slow.

4. Will be doing some iMovie editing at some point tonight -- I'm interested to see how fast that is! I've got some stuff to convert to H.264, which I know takes FOREVER on my iMac G5 at work.

Keeping in mind, I only have 512mb of RAM in this thing right now. The other 512mb I ordered hasn't arrived yet :)

That's weird. Flash works just fine on mine. I was scared at first when i read somebody mention that, but Homestarrunner.com works just fine. That is flash right??

It must use Flash, because I can't get it to open.

What browser are you working? Maybe it'll work for me in Firefox or something.

Just posted under apps - I also have the INTEL iMac and while I have other issues - it appears FLASH is working on mine or else I am completely missing stuff at websites. As much surfing as I do - I can't imagine I would not have noticed this before. However Safari for me is VERY unstable - wonder if this might be the reason?

Hah.

It appears Flash works for me under Firefox, but not Safari.

This is REALLY weird - I posted a rather long message under help regarding the issues I am having - notably Safari crashing after awhile or on a few different type tasks.

I am clearly running Safari natively and I have NO probelm with Flash.

Weird indeed...I haven't been able to get any flash sites to work with Safari. I tried manually installing Flash; that didn't work either. Maybe a repair permissions and reboot, then I'll try again.
