SickMouthy said:My old PC's PSU burnt out on a Tuesday night in January, taking the motherboard with it. I'd been vaguelly intending on replacing it this year anyway (it would've been 3 in August) and my girlfriend and best mate are both Mac users, so had been evangelising. The Monday before my PSU went was Jobs' keynote speech, so it seemed obvious... I did a couple of days research, and opted for a standard set-up 17" - my dayjob is in a film library, but I'm also a freelance music writer, so need fast net connectivity, music and word processing, so it seemed perfect.
I ordered it on the Monday morning after my PC died, and it arrived 9 days later on the Wednesday. With a crack in the screen. We rang customer service (well, my girlfriend did - she's good at that) at 8am the next day and they arranged a courier to pick it up, and a replacement iMac. At 9.30am my girlfriend ordered herself one, having sold her Mac Mini in a fit of jealousy.
Her iMac arrived 26 hours after she ordered it - my replacement still isn't here (should arrive tomorrow, one week after being arranged, with luck). She gave me hers because she felt guilty!
The desk and Creatures are brand new too - I felt the iMac deserved to be treated well...
I'm really enjoying using it thus far - my girlfriend had two installs left of her Office 2004 student suite so I've used one of them, and about the only problem I've had transferring from PC to Mac (apart from my dodgy wireless network at home, which is another matter altogether) is getting used to " and @ being swapped, and there being no "home" or "end" keys.
Cool. Your girlfriend must be pretty nice
