Mine left the reseller just over 2 hours ago. If I'm lucky it'll arrive today, but it's more likely going to turn up first thing tomorrow.

Yay, it's here! :D

Wow, this thing is quiet! At full tilt (installing WoW patch) it's quieter than my G5 idling.

I haven't really stressed it yet, am about to try out WoW :)

Edit: Oh, and Flash works.

Finally on North American soil!

The iMac is on its way to iSack. It departed the Alaskan FedEx location at 2:58pm today.

Has anyone tried Doom 3? I bought it because I thought the intel imac was gonna be a half decent gaming machine. I don't care so much about frames-per-minute...as long as its playable.

Hopefully Aspyr will put out the universal patch quickly...before iSack has to drive to headquarters, and teabag some executives.

I just got mine today....and I've never been happier. I doubt I could ever go back to a 17inch screen like on my old eMac.

Are games written in Cocoa?

I'm hoping Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is made universal soon. It works on my machine, but it can get pretty slow. It runs little bit better on my Powerbook G4.

WHOA!!!

The thing was busy last night.. went from memphis to here (a few states away) overnight.. it's at the facility here in town.. hrmm I WONDER if it will get delivered today..

Huzzah! It's here!

It feels so fast compared to my 867Mhz PowerBook! :D *Druel*

Interestingly somethign went wrong during my set up (I took the batteries out of the BT mouse and I couldn't use the mouse for the rest of the setup rocess which was a shame :(

Ah well :D:D:D:D:D:D

I upgraded to 1gb of RAM and it does seem to make quite a difference. Still haven't figured out why Flash won't work for me; maybe I need to try reinstalling Safari.

Make sure safari is set to run under rosetta. If it still doesnt work use firefox.

trouble with java

anyone have trouble with java, I cannot get some online applications, trading sites, to work with java on either mozilla or safari.

Update:

I'm having problems with frontrow - clearly others are too. This is taken from the Apple Support Boards:

The situation is most appearant in FrontRow. When you navigate thru Frontrow the "black" screens get teared severely. Any video watched with FrontRow has almost constant horizontal lines(tears) running thru it. Also the white text gets duplicated and mirrored while it flickers. Watching a DVD thru Frontrow gives the same problem. But when watching with DVDplayer, there is no problem. Also Alt-Tabing thru different applications causes those tears to display again. It's such a same as it renders Frontrow useless.

I'm having the same problems. Is it a Video card issue? Perhaps a call to apple is in order. I'll call them soon. Will update y'all later!

I know that alot of newer games have already begun "compiling" to be able to run on the intel imac. There are loads of intel mac gaming information on the web.

Hmmm...Roller Coaster Tycoon 3??? I'm not sure, but check the publisher.

UPDATE: iSack's new iMac flew over his house last night. It left Anchorage at 2:58pm yesterday, and arrived in Memphis TN at 3:55am today. I live in Ontario, so Mr. Mac has to back track abit. I took me 11.5 hours once to drive from my house to Memphis...it's a fun place. Hopefully the mac will be in my hands by Friday night.

UPDATE B: Oh god! Just thinking about that 20" inches staring me in the face makes my mouth water.

This is uber coooool.. I'm on the mac now.. this thing is so bright.... it lights up the room

And it's HUGE

Man.. this is soo cool.. still installing apps and such.. I'll let everyone know how it goes.. No problems with flash here.. :D

I was surprised how large it was as well. DVD's look fantastic on the thing.

Yeh I tried a DVD.. looked really good.. looking back at my PC screen.. it has thiss odd BLUE HUE to it after looking at thiss sucker..

:D

Got most of my apps installed.. so far so good.. takes some getting used to as I am a PC user since birth :| But I'll get it.. what's odd, there is a home key on the keyboard, but doesn't seem to do anything :S ODD

do DVDS look REALLY good, or is the image quality just ok. I ask, since having used my ibm T41 for years to watch DVD's, on the imac the image quality is just not there.

Depends on the dvd for me. Well-mastered DVD's look outstanding. Some of my older DVD's show a lot of compression artifacts. Because of the size and resolution, you'll definitely see more flaws on this monitor than others.

[sarcasm] YAY! My iMac has been declared DOA[/sarcasm]

The video card isn't working correctly and the Hardware test CD reports me only having 128Mb GFX when system profiler says 256. My Frontrow was appalling with images and video distorted and blurred and as for expose...

Ah well. I will have a new one in another 5-7 days! YAY! :D

I guess there is one up side to all of this. MORE APPLE PACKAGING TO OPEN! :D

My new iMac arrived just minutes ago. After so long in the Windows world, I can't believe how small the packaging was. When I saw the Fedex guy walk up the path, I was telling myself it couldn't be the iMac ... what could my wife have ordered? It's smaller than the box my 17" Dell LCD monitor came in.

Set up was a breeze - I'm typing this on it now. The screen is nice - better colors than the Dell LCD I have to say. It's so silent too - I've just copied my iTunes library (not imported yet) and the only sound was the external USB drive spinning away.

Yesterday I went to CompUSA and played around with a G5 for a while to get a feel for the differences. There isn't much to say with normal use, but when I opened all the apps present in the dock at the same time, the G5 churned away for 5 minutes and gave me lots of beachballs (CPU pegged 100%). When I did it to the new iMac neither CPU went over 45%, no beachballs. Of course, I have 2GB RAM so that helped - still it's nice to know it take what I throw at it.

AppleCare

I just got a small package from Apple a few days ago, inside was my AppleCare papers and an AppleCare CD. So I guess when the iMac is auto-enrolled to AppleCare they mail you the stuff. Just wanted to let you guys know you weren't missing out on anything, the stuff in the package is the same stuff in the box you get if you buy it from the store. :)

My iMac says "SHANGHAI, CN 02/01/2006 9:43 P.M. THE AIRLINE OFF-LOADED PACKAGES CAUSING A DELAY" :( - I have a feeling it won't be here by the estimated Feb 3 date...

If it gets on the plane, it could make it - mine left Shanghai Sunday evening, got here at 8:30 this morning.
