Actually I shipped mine back was not to pleased with the performance considering a dual core and ati graphics. Glad I did because I just heard from a friend that 64bit macs will arrive by fall and the graphics will blow you away. By this time apple will have somewhat better performance and would make more sense to upgrade at this time.

Aww man - I ordered my iMac (256 Graphics, 1 Gig RAM, WL KB/M) on the 12th and it said right from the start that it would ship 20th. Well I got all caught up in the excitement, and read so many reports of ridiculously early shipping times that I assumed that mine would arrive early too. Oh how silly I was...SO SILLY! It still hasn't shipped, which I'm a little peeved at considering other people's who ordered after me have, but still, I shall live! Ah well now I just have to hope it ships tomorrow like it should :D

That's the exact same dates as mine... Check your E-mail and hope there's none from Apple. Mine got pushed to February 13th as posted earlier :(

Ordered 1/14 (only bumped the video card), and at that point, it had an est. ship date of 1/24. Here's what FedEx says as of right now:

Ship date Jan 18, 2006
Estimated delivery Jan 23, 2006 10:30 AM

Jan 18, 2006
3:32 PM Left origin SHANGHAI CN
3:28 PM Picked up SHANGHAI CN Package received after FedEx cutoff
12:28 PM Package data transmitted to FedEx

Oh, and I picked the free shipping option. If I'd realized it was coming from out of the country, I'd have spent a little bit more to get it here sooner. I suppose I can't complain, though, as it'll (hopefully) arrive before the Apple estimated ship date. :)

Don't worry so much, I ordered mine on the 13th with an estimated ship date of Jan 18th, and I got it on Jan 16th. It took one day to get from Shanghai to Pennsylvania.

Apple is airlifting them so don't worry by end of month you should have them. What you have to keep in mind is that manufacturing must have just started on these puppies so expect some time to deliver. In the meantime stop checking your order status and walk your dog instead!

I ordered my 20" yesterday from CompUSA... And today I got the email confirmation that it has shipped via fedex... No idea on the arrival date from fedex yet.... But I'll "edit" this message once fedex updates itself...

Anywho... I wanna upgrade the memory.. And I found this place... Is that a good price?

Also, how do I go about upgrading the video memory?

you can't upgrade video memory if you have already purchased. there are two different cards you can order BTO. You can't just buy 128 video RAM and add it in there.

you can't get that RAM either. You need to get a SODIMM stick, like this one

Can I play spot the troll?

You just heard from your friend have you? Mmm I heard from mine - he said "anyone ordering an intel mac now and expecting superfantastic performance when applications havent even been re-written/optimised to utilise the new hardware is a complete fecking moron"... I think he may be right :D

20 inches of bulls**t

I have been having the worst custermer service through the apple store switzerland.

I placed my original order on the 11th of jan. I ordered the following:

20" Imac Duo
2gb Ram
500gb Hd
256 Vram
Mac OSX (english)
Giffin Powermate
Mini DVI to VGA

I was told a few days later that it would take 3-4 weeks to ship. I couldnt wait that long so i called the apple store and asked them to change my hard drive from a 500 to a 250 (reducing the delay by a good 3 weeks). They told me " no problem sir, we can do that. It will take up to 48 hours for us to update your order." This all sounded fine.

48 hours later i logged on to my order status. As planned the order was changed from a 500gb to a 250gb hdd. As i looked closer at the order i noticed it had also changed from OSX in English to OSX in French! Since this was not ok, I called the apple store and asked them to change it.

24 hours later, i log onto check my corrected order status, and the order changed once again incorrectly. OSX was now in english, but the video card was changed from a 256, to a 128. I picked up the phone and once again called the apple store ( this time quite infuriated ). I was told that my order was impossible to change the order. They had to completely cancell my order and i had to place a new one, through the apple store online. Which would mean that i would have to wait even longer to recieve my Imac.

Finally i have the correct imac in my order status minus the Powermate (since it doesnt work on intel macs yet). But now i am worried that the credit card will not pay, because of all the cancellations that the card would block. I guess i have to sit and wait now. ;(

27th of January its expected to ship... This really sucks

These reports from people who've had their ship by dates pushed back has me a bit concerned, but mine is still supposed to ship by the 20th. And since it is Friday morning in Shanghai already, hopefully there'll be an email in my inbox tomorrow morning saying that my 17" iMac shipped sometime overnight.

mine left alaska today. any chance it might come tomorrow? in the midwest?

Might be a chance, since it usually goes to Indianapolis after Alaska. Hard to say for sure though. Sometimes it gets delayed in Indy a little.

Update....

Fedex says I'll have my iMac 20" on Tuesday the 24th coming from Mesquite, TX... Purchased from CompUSA.....
UPS says I'll have my 2 gigs of ram on Wednesday the 25th coming from Palatine, IL... Purchased from OWC/MacSales....

why is everyone ordering their intel mac instead of just going to the store and buying it? i just went to the apple store tonight and picked up mine and it's up and running. i'm just going to add some ram and it will be great.

funnily enough most americans dont live within 3 hours drive of an apple store, personally i'm going to the london apple store to pick up my macbook pro.

For me, it's because I got the educational discount, thanks to my husband's being in the Masters' program at a local college. (Thanks honey!) Also, the iMac is in a race with my 3rd kid for when it'll get delivered, and I'd rather not drive the 1.5 hours to the closest Apple store. ;)

Look at this E-mail I just received from Apple.

I was so looking forward to my new iMac. I'm SO dissapointed. I ordered it on January 12th. New shipdate is February 13th!!?!

This is the worst E-mail ever

Update:

I called Apple Store Denmark. Nothing they could do about it. They don't know why it's delayed.

Also the danish Apple Store now says 4 weeks delivery for iMac Core Duo's.

The "funny" thing is, my buddy ordered the exact same setup as mine on January 12th but 4 hours after me. He has NOT received an E-mail pushing the delivery to February 13th!?

Makes me wonder how exactly Apple Store's qeue system works??

PS: My Order Status page still says: Estimated Shipped By - Jan 20, 2006. That's pretty weird.

The easy way of ever doing somthing like that is to cancel the order online. Then just place a new order - take the third party screw up's out of the equation.

Simple, not everyone has an Apple Store located near them.

Beside you can't custom order at an Apple Store.
