I have a 1st gen iPod Touch, and the article leads me to believe it'll work with that provided I get a microphone. To add onto this gentleman's question, anyone know which mike will work?

Here's to all the people that cried over MMS until the 3.0 announcement.
Sure would be nice if we could move in the direction where we just pay for the data stream and do what we like.
Cool. Although, I don't know enough people with this IMing service.
I'm in Canada (and kinda pissed... Ok really pissed) and I'm seeing people say that they used an American iTunes account to download and install it, are there any steps to actually getting it on my phone other than just using an american iTunes account and maybe a proxy?
Your 1st gen iPod Touch doesn't have speakers or mic, but on 2nd gens you could use this inexpensive thumbtack mic.

Exactly, I don't know what all the excitement is about. This may make some phone calls cheaper than normal use, but this is hardly revolutionary, especially since you can't use it over 3G (but I could never see AT&T allowing people to bypass them over their very own network).
However, I could see how this would be very useful for people with Touches.
I would think that I'd be able to use that mic with headphones though. At least that's what I was hoping. Perhaps Skype's support can respond for sure. Though I won't hold my breath.
If you follow the link, you'll see that the mic only works for 2nd gen.
Wow! A program that let's you use your iPhone as a phone!
You can be sure Rogers is going to block itSuspect Rogers will block it, like Verizon does ...
As I said above, I'm going to get an iPod Touch, the heck with these carriers.

Finally, I'll be able to make calls in the air.

In the short term, I'm betting if you pull out a phone and start talking on it during a flight--even just using Wifi--a flight attendant will order you to shut it down because they'll think you're using cellular. Fellow passengers might freak out to.
