Official Smash Bros. Brawl Thread [SPOILERS!]

I've got about 14 hours of play into Brawl at this point (taking turns, so not straight gameplay). I'm already pretty awesome at it, but it is really, REALLY different from Melee, and that will throw people off for a while. I kept misjudging the physics for a long time.

I've enjoyed what I've played so far, its one of a few Wii games thats worth buying this year.You must be sad that Ponyz didn't make the cut.

Indeed.
The game feels a lot more floaty than Melee and in many ways slower. Physics are totally different and will take some adjusting to, and it's definitely not as competitive...but more fun than Melee was.
And you mean you haven't unlocked the Ponyz yet??

Gamestop also seems to be the only stores open for brawl's launch on march 8th where I live.
For people who played brawl,
Is a one minute match, that's also one on one a good setup?
Lastly to anyone has any Gamestops got American Brawl demos to play. The ones here in Colorado haven't. It's great sadness cause I really want to compete but I would at least like to try out it's new gameplay/physics system.
Well I just called my gamestops near me they are going to have melee to play in the tournaments on march 8th. Not sure what other states GS's are doing.

huh, hadn't heard of that! I'll have to enter! Round one is in spokane but round two isn't anywhere near...and I don't think they cover winner's travel costs to the next round

It would be funny if he(it?) became the best or top smash character for professional players
I also love Mr.Game and Watch and his giant squiad final smash. I'm glad Sakurai brought him back for brawl

I'm trying to find the link to an article where Sakurai was playing as Snake, Sonic and Pit. All at once in his panel discussion of Smash at GDC 08.
But what's interesting is he was playing with three gamecube controllers in a half circle at all once!!! It would be nice if there some video too. But sadly there isn't.

Brawl matches don't look nearly as impressive as good Melee matches due to the slower pace and different techs but it takes a lot more strategy and timing.

Have you had time to try out classic controller, wiimote, and wiimote+nunchuck?
It seems people that have had time prefer a cube' controllers.
But from watching your smash vids, brawl does seem "floatly" and more like the original N64 game.

Ah, good to see this thread is active again.
I'm not going to bother checking the local Sears. You know why? I just played some Melee over the weekend with friends... and it was every bit as fun as it's always been. So I can wait a week and a half
Praxis, that Luigi video was something else! It sounds like you're 'in the loop' as far as the tournament scene is concerned: what have tourney folks said about Brawl? Do you think there will there still be occasional Melee tourneys for those who like the older gameplay, or will Brawl take over?

As far as luigi/ka master- yeah, he's crazy! I played against his sparring partner eggz (arguably the world's best mario?) a couple times. Died horribly. I did kill him a few times on brawl though! Not touching him on melee.

I just would like to play with some of you guys/gals.
Also, co-op is SSE will be cool too or beating up the sandbag too!! I've playing it in melee and this mode really hasn't died for me
