The iPhone 7 plus tops out at over £900 so a £1000 is not that expensive compared, so stop with the "Oh my gosh it's going to be so expensive" rubbish.

I still think £1000 would be expensive for a phone, I wouldn't pay £900 either.

TI do not see the iPhone 8/x/edition being £1000. The only reason we keep hearing this figure is from so called analysts who could not analyse 6pm at 5:59pm.
So please stop accepting their **** as truth.

$200 may be "measly" for you (and the jump would be more than $200) but it puts it into a price bracket where I think enough is enough and it's no longer worth it to me. I begrudged paying over £600 for my current iPhone 6 so you can imagine how I'd feel if I had to stump up a grand for the next one.

What if it costs £999?

I think the black front looks a million times better. Not sure how or why Apple could go with a white front, especially when the design is supposed to be "bezel free".

I do spend all my time looking at the front of my phone, so the camera doesn't rell effect me. hat's not meant to sound sarcastic, just that the back of my phone doesn't really matter. I also use a Nexus one for work and I have had people comment on the back being unpretty; I honestly don't care because I don't look at it hardly ever either.

I'd say the S pen has some benefits but I wouldn't think it would be very useful for me. I no longer find myself needing to take notes, I don't ever edit images and video, and so it would just be a feature used sparingly, if at all. Certainly not something I wish didn't exis, but I am indifferent.

I guess what I am say is we all have different needs and wants and tastes. I realize you were respoinding to someone saying the S8 is ugly, but still, I think sometimes we lose prespective. IMO we know enoughabout the new pones to decide whether to buy an s8 or wait for iphone. I prefer vanilla android myself, so I will be waiting but have always found samsung hardware to be top notch. Even when people complained about a "cheap feel" to the plastic housing, I thinought they always felt like solid phones. The only phone that ever beat that (and still was plastic) was Nokia with their Lumia line.

Actually, unless ur on app or webpage that has a black / dark background, white bezel will blend with the background much better as most of apps or webpages tend to have white background.

But I totally agree with you when the phone is off, black front bezel looks much better.

I wish the bezel could change the color by itself depends on the color of the display to blend in perfectly, just like chameleon does... Actually, there shouldn’t be any bezel at all, that would make it much better!

Seems like Samsung may had the notch design since 2016 when they patented the following and may be using this for the S9 so once again they most likely were first before APPLE who may have stole it. Actually glad Samsung didn't use the ugly notch design yet.

That's right and basically you still owe 10 or 11 months payments on your current phone and besides, you will have the option to upgrade to the 7s so you can't really complain.

Paying over $1,000 for a phone and waiting another month or two is really gonna test the patience (and wallet) of even the die-hard iPhone users.

I need a replacement. I'm rocking a 2015 moto g3 as a temp measure waiting for the new phones. I can't wait until November or perhaps the new year. Especially if we're supposed to be paying a premium *and* waiting. I'll just pick up a 7s/whatever its called. If the shortage continues into the new year like the airpods, it'll get to the point where it is fairly easy to just wait for the iphone 9 in 2018. Or I can just sell my 7s and switch if supply picks up

The damage was done once Cook took over. Apple hoouse been behind the 8 ball since. There is not vision, innovations or even "courage"

Millions of employees who's companies won't provide the flagship device, but the 7s. Which still though is a hell lot better than paying both the phone and carrier themselves.

Plenty of people move back and forth from phones makes and models. It's just how it is. Unless you have a photographic memory I think it's impossible to say that a tangible number of people will say they aret getting the phone and end up getting it anyway. I have read this claim before but haven't really ever been presented by evidence that backs it up.

When the 7 was announced I was one that said I wouldn'tupgrade. Nothing there for me. Of course the hecklers were all saying that I woiuld cave. Some even insisted their would be tangible differences in performance and etc. Well, here I am with my 6s plus after nearly two years. What's even wilder is my wife got the 7 and there indeed were no tangible performance differences.

So anyway, just here to add my experiences to the mix. Not everyone is so stuck on iphonethat they need the latest and greatest yearly, if at all.

If they dump touchid in this model I doubt it ever comes back. It just doesn't make too much sense to dot that. Of course, anything is possible, but apple typically doesn't remove things only to bring them back later.

Integrated TouchID in the display exists, Apple has the patent so why not? I don't think Apple would leave it in the lab because they fear "it would look bad" to some to drop TouchID for one iPhone model only to bring it back in a more advanced way a year later.

I'm going to be pretty irritated if I get this new iPhone in October or November and next year they tell me I'm not eligible for my iPhone Upgrade Program swap until October or November.

You need to have made 12 payments before you can upgrade so you just pay off whats left to take you to 12 payments. I think you just to this at the same time you pick up the new phone or you can probably also phone up and pay in advance.

Everything is wrong on those cameras. The bump, the vertical alignment, the flash in the middle. Most of the times changes like this grow on us and we end up liking but this, yuck! WTH they were thinking?

I'm not a iPhone fan at all but Apple should know that their fanbase has been looking forward to a OLED iPhone for the past few years. Why would they not have their shipments in order. The OLED iPhone should have been a first priority and should be the absolute first phone shipped and delivered to their customers.

I would be mad.....they have enough resources to not allow this to happen...no excuses.

But that's the point - they don't have the resources - see the various articles about low yields of OLED screens from their supplier, Samsung, who are currently the only ones capable of producing them. Sure, Apple are putting money into LG's OLED production, but that's going to take time. Right now OLED supply is a bottleneck that Apple, even with all their money, can do nothing about.

I've read many posts about the iPhone 8 possibly costing £1000, but for some reason it was only when I read this post that the reality of that amount set in. Apple is very tight with their supply chain (you can ask Apple distributors/authorized resellers). Holding out inventory is not something they do, is stupid and is not logical at all.

Apple's been doing a lot of over-promising and under-delivering over the last couple years. Becoming a bit disillusioned as of late. Even briefly considered a Note 8, but (fortunately for Apple) I have too much invested in Siri/HomeKit, my Apple Watch, etc., to change to a different phone platform.

They've only been doing 'a lot of over-promising' if you've got Macrumors mixed up with official statements from Apple.
