I really need to stay away from this thread. I am so tempted to run out to Target or Best Buy to buy a Kindle now. My wife loves hers (not the Special Offers one), and I would get some use out of it, but not a ton. And I don't need a new computer right now, but the greedy part of me wants to buy the Kindle just to put this code and any in the future on ebay. Maybe over time it would pay for itself. If I end up anywhere near those stores tonight or tomorrow, if may be too hard to pass up

That's what I was thinking too! :D

This already happened to me...had NO reason to buy it but I did...

My friends brother has the Kindle with Special offers but he won't let give up the code. He's not planning to buy a laptop anytime soon. People on eBay won't end the auction early, they rather wait until the end than sell the code early & a little cheaper.

I'm really temped to go buy the kindle.

Why wouldn't you? What us a mint kindle selling for on eBay. Also you can see if you like it and ignite. Return it.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone considering getting the 17" MacBook Pro? 20% off means $1852.98 which is a $646.02 discount from the $2499 price and more like $750 since you don't pay tax. Very tempting. It is a shame that the refresh happened all the way back in February since we are directly in mid-product cycle.

I heavily considered it. However the demand is just low for that in the second hand market.... And it's an awfully big device.

If you compare it to retail it's like $1000 off.. But man it's big.

Yes.

Amazon charges tax in ND, WA, KS, KY, NY

You're pretty much screwed in NY for sales tax. There are only a couple of online retailers that don't charge it there. Newegg and ABT.com are the only ones I know of that don't. NY is extremely aggressive in this area so I'm not sure how those two avoid it.

Move? lol

Im about to do the same. Waste money on a code on ebay or buy a kindle and hopefully they will have other offers in the future. I still would be saving more money on the air than I would at the apple store.

Target here I come :) & apple store to return my air.

Go! Buy! Upgrade! Stimulate that economy!

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple has their hand in on this deal too, as it's a perfect way to get rid if some of the older MB Pro stock right before the refresh.

Amazon is brilliant doing this, dumping off all their KSO stock right before they introduce the new touch screen kindle 3. Word on the street is that the K3 will be introduced next month.

Isn't this one the kindle 3?

The kindle special offer, as well as other current-gen kindles are the kindle 3.
Guess you mean kindle 4 lol

Kindle customer service told me they could not send me the code if I ordered the Kindle from Amazon. They said I would have to purchase from retail and accept the offer on the Kindle. Looks like a trip to Target...

I ordered the 17" and just got it this morning. Cloned my 15" over to it and am typing on it right now and I must say its awesome. Never thought I would like the 17 but for that discount how could I not buy it. Go for it. Heads up though, its a refresh model meaning it has Lion on it with the Lion keyboard but I cloned my 2011 15" snow leopard install on it and it works great.

"Usually" + "ships in 1 to 2 months" = "could be 3 to 4"

"Usually" + "ships in 1 to 2 months" = "could be 3 to 4"

So by the time you will get it the new 2012 MBA will be available.
LOL

LOL

I placed my order last week with "Usually ships in 1-2 months" and "Estimated Delivery: August 30-September 20"

Once it's processed, it's quickly changed to Estimated Delivery: August 11-August 13.

Please stop saying stuff just for the sake of saying it

Wow

Wow, I just noticed this thread today! Does anyone have a code I could use? I just got back from Best Buy looking at the new MacBook Air's with my wife. We want to get one. This could save us a ton of money!

Please PM me if anyone kind soul wants to share a code :D

Unfortunately I used mine. If you want, what you can do is to go back to said Best Buy and purchase the Kindle Special Edition for about 125 with tax (depends on your state), register it, get the coupon code (BEFORE MONDAY August 8th), and place the order right away... You can then return the Kindle afterwards =)
