Wow, I just noticed this thread today! Does anyone have a code I could use? I just got back from Best Buy looking at the new MacBook Air's with my wife. We want to get one. This could save us a ton of money!

Please PM me if anyone kind soul wants to share a code :D

This is a MBA forum. My guess is most members who have a code are using it.

There are quite a few for sale on eBay. The last I saw they were starting at $39 BIN.

Unfortunately no one's going to give it away... I've asked everyone and ended up buying a kindle today -.- but hey, you save money still!

Another MBP 17

Went for the 17 mostly because I can't get the hi res version in the 15 from Amazon and rarely travel. Bought a second kindle and ordered my wife a MBA 13. Had already got a new mini from mac connection with the graphics so in total I will be spending about $3600 for MBA 13, MBP 17 and a new mini. Sold the 3+ year old iMac for $650 and picked up a couple of hundred for my used Lenovo T400 so my out of pocket will be around $2600 to $2700. Will I be bummed when a new MBP 17 or 15 is released? Probably but getting nearly $600 off and no taxes is hard to resist and it won't be obsolete soon with the processing power and ability to upgrade.

e-ink doesn't emit light, so there's no brightness to adjust

I prefer the iPad myself for reading but if you want to read in sunlight then the Kindle is far superior.

I didn't think of that... The Kindle just seems a bit dim even in decent light, but we'll see how it goes.

My wife mainly uses the iPad for reading and not much of that as it turns out, so we have been thinking of selling it.

BTW, is the discount good for more than one computer?

Unfortunately I used mine. If you want, what you can do is to go back to said Best Buy and purchase the Kindle Special Edition for about 125 with tax (depends on your state), register it, get the coupon code (BEFORE MONDAY August 8th), and place the order right away... You can then return the Kindle afterwards =)

Has anyone tried buying the kindle using the coupon code and then returning it? Does this work?

This deal is killer, Thanks!! Friend gave me a code from their Kindle, ordered the base 13 MBA. Estimated delivery date is Aug. 31, 2011 - Sept. 16, 2011, though I don't mind waiting to get it at this price.

Unless you don't enjoy reading, returning the new Kindle is crazy.

Even though I really like my iPad 2, for reading books nothing comes even close to a new Kindle.

It was just the excuse I needed to buy a new one :)

No. One code, one computer. People are buying extra Kindles to get extra computers.

Just ordered my 13" Air w/ 256gb. Total discount is $276 plus I now owned a Kindle for the first time. I've been using the Kindle for iPad and I didn't like it.

I was also on the fence between the 128gb and the 256gb and this 20% discount made it a no-brainer. This will replace my 5 year old Black Macbook which I just sold for $400. It's my travel gear w/ the iPad 2

Thanks Ace36 for starting this thread!

Very good deal. Though if I were Amazon I would reconsider the way this is being distributed. Like...your Amazon ID you order with must be the same as the email that your Kindle is registered to. That way, people can't do exactly what they're suggesting doing in this very thread - "sharing the wealth".

OR

Do what they do for Audible. Offer the code with the caveat that if you return the Kindle, they will charge your card back for the discount amount.

I know I sound like a sour puss, but my logic is this: The more people that abuse this great deal, the less Amazon will offer such deals.

Awww hell yes I'm so glad I found this thread. I posted a status on fb asking if anyone had a kindle special offer, but then I just said forget it and went to target and bought one. I just ordered my 11" 128gb from amazon for like $912. It's about $1300 from apple with texas tax so I just saved $265 if I keep the kindle. But I'm gonna check out this kindle for a bit and most likely sell it on ebay or give it to one of my friends for a cheap price if they want it.

Macbook 17 re-sell value is high

I heavily considered it. However the demand is just low for that in the second hand market.... And it's an awfully big device.

If you compare it to retail it's like $1000 off.. But man it's big.

Mac of all trades will pay $1550 for a used MBP 17 from 2011. New from Amazon s $1823.

Is this 20% off their In Cart Price of $1,234.99? If so, this coupon is a steal.

Yes, that's the best part. It is off Amazon's already-discounted prices. I am HIGHLY tempted to pick up a spare 11", probably to use as a gift.

Picked up kindle with ads from best buy. Drove over to a local starbucks to activate. Got my 20% off coupon. Ordered the 11 inch macbook air with 4gb/128gb with my iPhone. $911.99 total. Says delivery in 3-4 weeks.

Anyways, played around with the kindle for awhile. The e-ink is somewhat cool. However, I must say it feels like a piece of crap after being used to apple build quality. Ugly plastic with crappy interface.... My four year old son kept trying to touch the screen!!! Why can't I touch the screen Daddy??????

Really hate to return the kindle (I have the 14 day best buy return window) given that I used the coupon, but I have a sense that if not returned it will be sitting on my shelf.....

Slight worry that they will revoke my promotion code if I returned the kindle, but looking at the terms of the coupon (see below), I don't see anything about returning kindle.....

Has anyone bought a Kindle, get the 20% off code, buy the macbook air and then return the kindle? Does this work? Can you return the kindle after using the code?

damn in a pickle. just bought a 20% off macbook air 13"

what do i do with my 2.2 macbook pro high res now?

i don't even use 15% of the potential of the pro. i don't edit, make, etc etc. only thing i do is watch netflix and surf the net.

but even though i dont do those heavy things i feel kind of sad letting the pro go. "what if" i use it in the future? im also gonna miss the facetime camera. never used it but i'll still miss the hd camera.

weird i know.

I would also like to know this. I am curious if you use the code and then return the kindle. Will amazon void the discount?
