ETA of august 30-sept 15. ouch.

what you guys think, any chances it'll be shipped earlier than that?

So is the consensus that you can't get this code from someone else that has a kindle because it needs to be the billing and email address on the account of the owners Kindle?

It definitely doesn't matter when you check out. I guess the only question is whether they would somehow remove the discount before the computer actually ships.

Great thanks I will try this out. I asked my friend to see if he had it on his Kindle and he couldn't find it. What's the easiest way for him to locate it?

A friend used a 25% off HDTV code on his account using a coupon generated by mine. It doesn't matter what account you use it under. The only thing that matters is that the code is a single use code that has to be GENERATED using a Kindle special offer. From that point it doesn't matter WHO uses it, just that it can only be used once.

You guys are making this way more complicated than it needs to be.

But it also says u should have Kindle registered to the account your buying from.

Most of the Air's are out of stock, so they can just cancel orders?

This isn't Tiger Direct or buy.com we're talking about here. Amazon doesn't cancel legitimate orders.

The chances are almost 100%. It will likely be more like 1-2 weeks from now. When an item is out of stock I've always found that Amazon is wildly pessimistic on shipping dates. They (and others) do that so that customers get a happy feeling when the item arrives sooner than expected.

the model with "special offers." it's an ad-supported version that sells for $114 for the wifi model ($139 for the 3g). this is good on "select" laptops, which includes all models of the macbook air and pro.

The base 11" has been missing from the eligible list for a few days. I'm beginning to wonder if it will come back.

A 25% off hdtv's? The kindle is worth it for those that like having the latest stuff then. It would definitely pay for itself even if you don't use it for reading. How often do we ever see coupons for 25% off hdtv's or 20% off laptops? Seems like its worth it to keep it instead of selling the device.

For Target it is 90 days, with no restocking fee if opened. I ended up picking one up last night and called customer service before opening it just in case.

The only problem is, now my wife wants to use the code to get a new MacBook Air to replace her 2 year old MacBook.

Are you positive because I just bought one and on the back of the receipt it says "All returns and exchanges must be new, unused and have original packaging. Some items cannot be returned if opened. "

damn in a pickle. just bought a 20% off macbook air 13"

what do i do with my 2.2 macbook pro high res now?

i don't even use 15% of the potential of the pro. i don't edit, make, etc etc. only thing i do is watch netflix and surf the net.

but even though i dont do those heavy things i feel kind of sad letting the pro go. "what if" i use it in the future? im also gonna miss the facetime camera. never used it but i'll still miss the hd camera.

weird i know.
So you have a very well-equipped MBP (quad core 15") and you just bought a 13" Air to replace it, but you're sad about it? Then why "let it go"? And if you never used ANY of the features that are "missing" on the Air, why are you "missing" them already? (If I read this correctly, you don't even HAVE the Air yet).

Seems to me you should just keep the MBP. You've got buyer's remorse and you haven't even received it yet (presumably).

Trust me, cancel the Air and keep the Pro. I think you'll be happier in the long run.

its hard to explain. the air is more practical for me tbh but the pro is just bad ass. i'll probably never use it to its full advantage but knowing i could if i ever wanted to is reassuring.

its a terrible mentality, i know.

i would be sad to let either go even if the situation was reversed. there are always sacrifices between the machines. i want the air but im also kind of sad that i'll be getting rid of the pro. again, i dont use the pro features but its nice to have them. for example, HD webcam? never used it except twice to take pictures of me and my dog (i know weird) but i find myself disappointed that the air won't have it.

i just don't know. afnjasfnjsaf. the air is the right decision for me but im a spec whore so thats why im stuck. i really need to stop thinking this way and be happy with a laptop :(

Can you afford to have both? If so, why don't you cancel the 13 and get a base 11"? Then you can have your "spec whore" machine (the MBP) and your portable netflix and Internet machine?

By the way, for all you new Kindle owners there's a master thread of all the special offers that have or will be offered on Slickdeals. It's a useful thread to keep track of any offers you haven't noticed.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2882537

I bought my KSO in May (to read, not for the deals) and so far I've saved almost $900 by way of discounts on items I was already planning on purchasing. I'd say it's paid for itself even though it's caused me to buy about $150 in books since then ;)

Thank you for this. Unfortunately, I bought a camera from amazon last week, and the special offer of 25% would have save me $87 dollars: too bad the deal died on 7/31. Sigh. Anyway, your link is great. I'll keep a vigilant eye on it.

Thanks all for this thread, was on the fence about picking up a MBP but decided with this offer to pick up the high end 15 for 600 off apples price!!

Yes. And the box has a zip cardboard pull on it that can't be resealed once you open it. To get the code you must go into the View Special Offers sub-menu, click the link to email you the offer and the code is generated and sent to your registered email address.

thanks for the info

Saved $514.96 on a 2011 Macbook Pro 15" 2.2Ghz Base Model

Couldn't resist the temptation for a large discount therefore, I returned my 2011 MBA 13" 256gb at Best Buy today. I bought the kindle and used the 20% off discount on Amazon for a 15" Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz 750Gb HD base model.

With Amazon's zero tax and free shipping, I saved $514.96 buying from Amazon instead of my local Apple Store with the educational discount.

Yippee!!!!

I just ordered the newest edition 11.6 128GB yesterday. It wasn't on the list at that time. And I did get the 20% off in addition to the already lowered price of $1139 instead of $1199. I just went looking for the listing, found it and put it in the cart, checkout after entering the code. I did not see the one I really wanted which was the 11.6 with the 256GB.

for those of you who bought the Kindle Specials from BB, it's in today's ad for $139 - that's suppose to be a $25 price drop. Get them to price match:)

I have (had) a similar quandary in that I do some heavy lifting - running virtual machines, photo & video editing, and using dual monitors at my desk. The MBA can't do these things well if at all. I bought my wife a MBA 11/4/128 and I LOVE the machine for writing, note taking, presentations, email and light surfing. Moreover, it would actually be useable in coach class when I'm traveling.

So... I've decided to compromise. Rather than upgrade/replace my 2008-vintage Mac Pro with a high-end MBP, I'll extend its life a little longer and augment it with a MBA for traveling since I don't really do heavy lifting on the road. $900 for a MBA 11/4/128 is hard to resist.

Now I'm debating between the 11/4/128 and 13/4/128. Would like the longer battery life but want a machine I can reasonably use while flying.
