man this blows. that's cheap amazon. i know they have the "right" but it seems like a bait and switch. also some punk used my code. on chat w/ cs to figure this out

We have a saying on Slickdeals, "you snooze, you lose". Snoozing on this deal and thinking you had until Sept 8th is going to bite a lot of people in the ass. The price of codes on eBay should be dropping like a rock and sellers better adjust their wording to avoid any promise that Apples are included, although the sketchy ones will point out that you can still use it on a 2010 MBA.

I would have ordered already but I still can't decide whether to get the 11" or 13". I should have got both.

close call

Just posted my first ever question w/ this thread, and was already bidding on ebay... Guess I will have to shall out the cash.. How often is their deals like this w/ apple products??

Yep, deal is dead. Just tried to order a 13" Air > "coupon not valid for this order".

So, CS wasn't able to help me after having my code stolen by some punk. This is what they told me..

"A member of our marketing team will need to help you with this; however, they don't have chat support. I'll forward your issue to them and you can expect an e-mail response within the next 1-2 business days."

So because this person taking my code, I didn't get my order in. I'm going to be raising hell about that and I'm going to make sure I get the discount on the MBA.

How did you get your code stolen?

so glad to have gotten 2 13" MBA 256s orders in. who knew the party would end so soon? im still pissed that i didnt buy another mba . argh. couldve made some more money! oh well. thank you amazon for this crazy deal to begin with. illl take what i can get and stop bitching.

I'm sorry, how is this a bait and switch?

Yes, legally their are fine, but in customers eyes... not cool. They start a promotion and a few days in, have to pull the computers everyone is buying, and so many more want to buy, but nope, sorry, we changed the rules.

You can't tell me that they didn't know this would happen, that would be BS. They waited till they got a few days publicity about it then shut down selling macs. So you can only imagine how many ppl bought kindles just for the code and now are stuck with them. Again, don't try to say they didn't know... they're a multi-billion dollar freak'n business, they knew.

So yeah, legally, they're within their rights. Honestly, this has made me not want to order any high ticket items from them. Sure i'll stick w/ their books, but that's it. And yeah, I'm only 1 person, but at least I put my money where my mouth is.

Some idiot (not really if they figured it out) probably cracked the code algorithm. I saw in the forums a few other people's codes were already used when they went to use them. Haven't shared it with anyone, haven't typed it even in, anywhere, for goodness sakes.

Why did you wait so long to buy? It's not like it was a one hour special.

Hmm... thanks for that. Let's see how it goes. I will post when mine gets shipped. Hopefully, it will be the day after yours get shipped.

Ordered my 13/256 on Friday afternoon, still showing Aug30-Sept15 (I did one day shipping since I have prime)

I just got it sunday, code on monday... it's only wednesday. I was going to put it in tonight... then this happened. So 2 days since I got it, with a month left in this "promo". Even if I wanted to, the code's been used by someone else, and it's at least 1-2 days for amazon to get back to me to get it sorted out, so says customer service because I was forwarded to marketing which only can be contacted via email through customer service.... kind of confusing.

Amazon changed the list of laptops eligible, this party is over...

I tried applying a valid coupon to an 11" MBA 4/128 and it says "Coupon cannot be applied to this purchase".

Amazon has updated their list that coupons will work on. No more MBP or MBA.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.ht..._t=1401&pf_rd_p=1314173922&pf_rd_i=1000701341

Looks like the 2010 MBA 13" is the only one available. People who bought coupons on eBay are going to be pissed.

Damn, that sucks for people who were sitting on the fence, trying to decide which model to buy. :(:apple:

Yep, hopefully most people that wanted this realized that a deal like this was too good to last... I jumped on it as soon as I saw the thread.

To the guy calling this a bait and switch... Seriously? No where in the coupon did it say that MBA/MBPs were eligible. We are lucky that amazon let the coupon work on these laptops at all, they likely lost quite a bit of money on every order as there is already very little markup on notebooks. The sale price (1,234.99 base) is probably about what the cost to them is. Of course they plan to make that money back through the kindle sales and ad revenue.

So it's cool to see all the unethical behavior in this thread regarding claiming codes and returning devices, however it's not cool for Amazon (who didn't have to run this promotion to start with) to change their promotion though it's clearly stated that they have every right to? I'm supposed to feel sorry for people who WILLINGLY knew that the promotion could be cancelled and ran out and bought devices anyway?

The terms are spelled out in black and white, if you choose to participate in the promotion you are always at the risk of it being cancelled. More than likely we have those that were buying and returning devices and selling codes on ebay and begging for codes and calling customer service without owning a device to obtain a code to blame for the promotion being scaled down. But those people are cool in your words, right?

Offer valid August 5, 2011, through September 8, 2011, or while supplies last...

Supplies did not last.

If I were you, I'd push that order through & get a confirmation email from them asap!

"This item is no longer available from the seller you selected."

I'm hoping that when it comes back on stock from Amazon I'll be able to apply my order. I'm also hoping that if push comes to shove with the CS rep, that having a brother work for Amazon might help me out.
