I took the easy way out -- when I saw first notice of the price drop last night, I sent an email via the Contact Us link rather than a phone call. As of this morning a rep had done a price adjustment and all is good; technically this is an "exception" -- see Post Order Price Match Policy.

Thanks for the tip. I sent them an email with the link a little while ago. We'll see. :)

Wow, I wish I'd read the recent posts earlier. I decided earlier today to sell my code since I also decided to keep the Kindle but it's too late to return my Air from BB. Listed the code, sold it, emailed the buyer. Buyer then emails me saying how I "took" him because it doesn't work on Macs (note: I did NOT state it worked on ANY specific brand-I also included the up-to-date link to the ones it DOES work on). There was not one single word in my listing that said Apple/Mac/etc. (again, no brands were listed).

Now he's threatening to leave me negative feedback and report me to eBay for ripping him off. I'd refund his money, but then not only am I out the money but he has my code and can use/resell for himself. Sigh. This is why I hate eBay.

Not sure he has a case as long as you didn't say it works on Macs. He clearly was planning on using it for a Mac and is mad that he lost his money. That's a risk he knew about ahead of time and decided to take. All you can do is argue your case to eBay and respond to his negative feedback if he posts it.

How did you get them to agree? I just spent half an hour on the phone with two reps and they said it was impossible to do.

I used chat. Told the rep that I have a Kindle KSO code, applied it yesterday and it worked, but didn't work today when I was intending to place the order. He told me to order it without the code and applied the promotion after.

Unfortunately eBay/Paypal side with buyers 99% of the time...so at best they would "agree" with me but not remove my negative feedback. What will likely happen is he'll file a complaint, eBay will say I was in the wrong, I'll have to refund his money, I'll get negative, and he will keep/use the code anyway.

That's how eBay normally works for sellers.

This is so true and such a flaw within eBay. The amount they side with buyers is unbelievable...they treat sellers like garbage. With cases for bad transactions, and fees nowadays are also out of control. Sucks.

ebay sucks. move over to craigslist. cash in hand for the product itself. no commission, no fees, no auctiva fees or whatever it is lol. and you also get nice long emails about how the buyer is in another part of the world and how he wants you to paypal it to him hahaha.

Same problem here. The line I got was "the original link for eligible laptops was wrong and we are working on fixing the website." I said "my friend was able to order one" and the reply was "I'm not sure how he was able to do that."

I'll try 1 more time tomorrow via chat. After that, I give up and probably return the Kindle. (I was intending to keep it... but if they aren't going to honor their deal, they can have it back.)

Amazon has updated their list that coupons will work on. No more MBP or MBA.

Looks like the 2010 MBA 13" is the only one available. People who bought coupons on eBay are going to be pissed.

Wow. I guess they completely underestimated the demand for MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros. It's a good thing I got my order in for the 11" Air. I'm guessing that the vast majority of redemptions were for Macs. First, the Air is brand new, and more importantly, Apple products are big sellers.

Thanks for the tip. A rep was able to reduce the price of the 13" 256GB down to $1249.99 for me. He said he wasn't able to reduce the price beyond that without a "working" promotion code, but he applied a $10 gift card to my account to make up the rest of the 20% KSO promotion.

smchan and everyone else, I would suggest you keep trying with the chat reps. At first the chat rep told me the promotion could not be applied. I then said I had bought a kindle BECAUSE of the promotion (which is true), and that I was hoping not to lose out on the deal. I asked if anything else could be done, and he eventually said that if I placed the order he would adjust the price afterward. It may take some convincing, but it is doable. Took a couple hours of negotiating overall, but I'm happy with the result.

Good luck everyone.

Finally!!!

So its 11:33 PM in Houston, Texas and after talking to 3 Amazon customer service reps and a manager i finally got one of the reps to do the promotion for me. Even the manager said he would email promotions personally to get me a new promo code but i thought id try one more time. Finally got my 11 inch macbook air for $911.99. what you have to tell them is that you understand that the offer is up but that other people are getting the offer and that you bought the kindle special offer specifically for a mac. be a little pushy but not too pushy. what they make you do is put in the order and then you give them the order ID number then they edit it over there. be sure to do the chat thats what worked for me. when you go to contact us on the place order screen towards the bottom its gonna ask why you trying to contact them and go to placing order then go to promotions and do the chat. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

p.s. the one who helped me was Vinay. i left her a badass review afterwards so be sure that if you get it don't be a dick! leave the person some love!! lol

ebay only covers tangible items, you have no way to prove you ever sent him the code... not sure if they would refund his money or not though

For those of you updating your order with additional's, are you placing the orders separately, or are you having them added on to your original orders?

Amazon authorization charge of $1.00 on my debit card as of 8/10. I purchased my 13" base on the 5th, well placed the order at least. This could be a good sign, right?! Anyone that uses Amazon a lot, comment! I'd like to know.

I thought price of the 13 air 256 i5 was 1275? thats what everyone else including myself paid, just curious

If I get the representative to retroactively apply the code, do I have to pay for the order now, or can I leave it in my cart and do it later?

You have to order it. How can the rep retroactively apply the code if you don't?
