Pretty slow for me.

Just chatted with another rep and still no answers on when Amazon will receive a shipment of base 13" models.

Yes... I told the Apple store rep that I received this as a gift (the seal not broken) and they gave me an Apple gift card.

Afterwards the Rep assisted me in placing an order using their computer to place the order for my new 17" MBP 2.3Ghz 256Gb SSD.

Edit: I originally used the 20% kindle for my 15" MBP and had "buyers remorse" because I wanted the 17" MBP. Today, I decided to make the trade (Upgrade) and it worked.

I might try this..... if my macbook pro comes with snow leopard..... but help me with this guys. Im an hour and a half away from the nearest apple store

so 3 hour trip (i have a 99 honda accord gets about 30 mpg) + plus getting a 500 gb hard drive just so they dont think i came switch (which is 45 with education discount) just to get 100 gift card, and free printer...? Is it worth it?

Edit: Gas buddy said i would use about 25 dollars round trip+ getting the hard drive and an apple remote... so its about 100....breaking even and getting a free printer....OR i can just not get the hard drive... thats what i think i will do. Lol. I dont like buying apps but if i get a card im sure i'll find a way to use it...

If anyone has a textbook kindle code I would also really appreciate it if anyone could send it to me and help me out. Thanks in advanced..

Adding all the extra stuff from the educational promotions, that sounds likea good deal. Makes me think of doing it too perhaps with mine...

Dang, apple only gives a 50 dollar education discount on all their macbook airs. That stinks

This is interesting.

So if I'm right, I can get the MacBook Air, a $100 gift card, and a printer for $1240.

Does the gift card cover the tax too?

I could see this being yes or no. Yes in that Apple is receiving a product back and thus they can give a full refund. However, no in that they did not collect tax to begin with on the item. Who knows...

I ordered an MBA 13/256 on Saturday the 6th, when it said that it would be delivered in 1-2 months. On Thursday of last week, they emailed and said it would be delivered via 2-day delivery on Tuesday (tomorrow). I bumped the shipping up to next-day, and it shipped Friday and showed up today.

Where did it ship from? Just curious on where they are shipping the laptops from.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that there is absolutely NO way Apple will give you a gift card for the value of the computer. You could just get the goodies, and then return the computer, over and over.

i mean that i will switch because amazon didnt have the configuration i wanted... and then tell them i am a student lol

Wait, so I could take my 13"/i5/256GB Air from Amazon I paid 1235 for to an Apple Store, get a gift card for the 1599+tax and just pay the $100 difference to upgrade to an i7? Seems like something that would have already been shut down for abuse.

If people are going to defraud Apple, it'd be nice if they didn't gloat about it in a public forum in a way that will encourage others to do the same.

Sigh. This is why we can't have nice things. This kind of abuse causes policies to tighten up, which then makes it harder later on for people to make legitimate exchanges.

32 units were shipped from Apple in Elk Grove, CA on 8/3/11, according to the box the MBA came in. It was shipped to Amazon in Coffeyville, KS, where they turned around and shipped it to me.

How come I keep seeing different prices that people are paying for the 13 i5 256, from 1225, to 1235 and mine looks just like this

Shipping Preference: Group my items into as few shipments as possible
Subtotal of Items: $1,594.00
Shipping & Handling: $12.14
Super Saver Discount: -$12.14
Promotion Applied: -$318.80
------
Total for this Order: $1,275.20

can someone please explain? Im SO lost

There was a point that Amazon was selling it for 1549 and than they brought it up to 1594.

I think the 13" 256 went on sale for one day. It went from $1,594 to $1,549 (I think). That might explain the price difference (+/- the shipping option selected).

I've come so close a few times but have struck out after at least 6 times trying to get an 11". Last shot down excuse was because the rules state "while supplies last", therefore this particular unit is no longer available......ugh!

just go for a pro and take it to apple or something and switch its much harder getting an air because of it being back ordered .....

Amazon reps have said that they're willing to match it if they're shown an order number with the 20% applied. I've heard the same thing in the past during other deals but I don't know if it really works or not.

I'm a little unclear on this. Do you mean you have used the promo code on a computer that is still included in the promotion and order/pay for it? Then you call Amazon and say, "look at the order I placed, it has the promo code applied to a computer included in the promo. I want to cancel that order and use it on the MBP instead?". Seems like they would say you have already used the promo code. Is there a way to get an order number on a computer without checking out?

I don't think apple would exchange it for a different model if it wasn't purchased directly from apple. But I could be wrong. I know they wouldn't even exchange a defective MBP at their store within 14 days since it was purchased from an authorized reseller instead of from apple.

I am about to buy a new air, how do I get the discount? I know it's probably stated somewhere in here but I don't feel like digging through 1000+ posts. Would I save money buying a Kindle and getting code, or could someone give me one?
Thanks, much appreciated
