Good frick'n luck! I tried last wed & thursday and no luck. I went through about 14 cs reps no kid'n. 2 marketing reps. 4 kindle specialists, and 1 kindle specialist on the phone for 50 minutes. To end it all, I got black listed on the CS Chat.

I feel your pain, but didn't you say you got pushy with the last couple reps?

Interesting that they even have a blacklist setup.

I did get pushy. All I was asking for was my code be honored to the terms of when I purchased (the list they sent me) and for them to answer as to why people all around me were getting their codes honored. It's not like I swore at them or anything. But by the end of the conversations, they were saying "I can't comment on that", "I'm sorry I can't do that", "I can't apply the discount", and they'd ask is there anything else I can do, and I said, yeah... apply the 20% off. They'd say no, so I said, well I guess we having nothing more to discuss.

I got pretty pushy just the last 2, but the other... like 16 times, I was as nice as can be. With finding out ppl are STILL getting it applied, I sent them a nice little email :) and we'll see how they respond. It's about a page long, and at the end I asked for 2 things. 1: Answers that weren't answered by the reps and 2: For my code to be honored.

I know I'm only one guy, but I told them I'd make sure to share my story to anyone who'd listen to me on how I was treated. I know I'm making it sound like it was beat'n and rapped, but man, I can't help but feel like I got a raw deal. I know legally, they're fine, but seriously... it's only $300 bucks. They make billions!

Agreed. Amazon is probably going to lose more money dealing with angry customers, wasting time with service reps, and general hullabaloo. Buck up Amazon, give me a $200 discount, and stop being so rude. I've never had this problem with other companies.

I'm glad to hear an MBAir story worked. I'm going to continue to email them. Perhaps I'll switch to a Pro. But that's not what I want, and quite honestly, if Amazon can't oblige...well I think I'd rather spend an extra $200 at the Apple store for an MBAir and return my Kindle.

When you say $200 before tax, are you referring to if the promotion was credited? If not, Apple and Amazon have the almost the same price (Minus Tax).

Personally, I wouldn't return it, it's all your decision though.

Dont open it and goto the Apple Store and let them know you want to upgrade the 13" MBP. They will issue you an Apple Gift Card and you can order it online at the Apple Store. That's what I did and I actually made money because they gave me the regular price for my 15" MBP 2.2Ghz and also included the tax to my Apple GC.

I believe when ordering through the Apple Online store, they are being shipped with OS X Lion pre-installed and with the new keyboard layout.

Good Luck.
Darren

Returning an unopened computer to Apple is a hugh YMMV. All laptops sold at apple are tracked at the serial number level. It means, that they can pull up the transaction simply by scanning the bar code and see exactly where it was purchased from.

I know this because I took my MBA that I bought in North Carolina to an Apple Store in Chicago to do a rebuy (I didn't get the gift card and printer the first time) and they scan the bar code and pulled up my info right away.

This means, that Apple should know immediately that the MBA didn't come from a store purchase and their policy is no refunds/credit/exchanges without a receipt. The fact that you got a gift card is lucky and I urge others not to waste their time trying to defraud apple.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to stick it out with the one Amazon sent me (Snow Leopard with the older keyboard). Driving to the Apple Store (45 minutes each way) is too much for something that's not guaranteed. I could return it to Amazon, but there's no way of knowing if I'd even get the newer keyboard or not. Anyways, its just a matter of 2 keys, and having to install Lion myself. Its not a big deal to me. Hopefully, when I sell it in the future, the buyer isn't too nit-picky (if they even notice)!

Well, today amazon offers 15" high-end MBP as quick-pick. It's 1929 and the same model in apple store is 2199. I'm waiting for 13/256. My current mac is 2007 15" MBP. Frankly, I don't need the 750gb hdd. If I'd like to get 15" MBP, I want to get hi-res model rather than basic res but amazon does not have it. Is it worth it? Also I'm not sure whether amazon can still apply the promotion code if I change the order...

Certainly, $200+96 tax, but I'll readily pay that over give Amazon my business after the BS they've pulled. And if I have to return my Kindle to make up for some of it...I certainly will. Could easily replace it with an iPad in the next few months...

this is funny, amazon went from being the most favorite company in the beginning of the deal to being the most hated......really, the only people who have a legitimate beef is if the kindle is registered on that same account they are ordering from, other than that i can't blame amazon. Now if the kindle is registered on your account and they aren't honoring the blunder on their part..... then its legitimate beef.....

The problem is most likely that you are trying to get the air.... not only are we getting these through a loophole but also they don't even have them in stock... so its really pushing it.... i would try to get a pro if you don't mind.... haven't heard of any recent "air" success stories ever since they sold out.

I got shot down 10-15 times in chat last week. Then yesterday the 11"/128/4 showed up in my Gold Box for $1,083 (regular Amazon price $1,140), so I thought I'd give it one more try.

The 1st rep I got last night was kind enough to manually apply the 20% discount without any pushback at all. He first asked me for my code. He then asked me for a link to the laptop. Finally, he asked me if the laptop was on the link from the email. After I said yes, he said to go ahead and place the order, and he would "remove 20% from the cost of the item." He applied the 20% to the $1,139.95, and then the Gold Box took off an additional 5%. Final total was $866.36.

So that's a recent "air" success story :)

Special Offers Kindle registered on my account, offer claimed on time, legitimate reason as to why I didn't purchase last week. I would have no beef if I didn't own the Kindle.

Just Used The Code...

... for a 13" MBP. My code was not accepted when I attempted to apply it at checkout...

It took less than 10 minutes chatting with a customer service rep named Kamal. $927.26 with two-day shipping vs. $1154.48 before the discount was applied. $227.22 saved.

:D

So it seems as though I simply tell the rep I'm chatting with that the laptop "is" in the "eligible email list", play dumb, and then they'll manually apply it when it doesn't work? This sounds ridiculous.

getting the macbook pro is the key, ask for an air and the wiggle room gets very tiny...

There is no blunder on their part, the promotion said that it was only valid while supplies lasted. People who are upset are being ridiculous, they missed out and thats that. Amazon owes them nothing.

I Didn't "Play Dumb..."

... and I didn't tell the rep that it was on the eligible list. I told him that when I was researching my purchase last week that the discount code was valid but that this morning it was not valid.

There was a little confusion regarding whether I had already used the code but we quickly cleared that up. The rep asked me to place the order and he manually applied the 20% discount.

As far as shipping goes, I opted for 2nd day air. No e-mail from Amazon yet but it is supposed to ship today.

I also ordered an anti-glare film from Power Support. It works great on my iPad and after reading the MacWorld review I decided to give it a try vs. the $200 Tech Restore option.

My original intention was to purchase an MBA but after working with an 11" I found that I simply could not tolerate the display. I didn't want to pass up the 20% discount so I went with the MBP. :p

Ok. we will see if they expedite your order because of your shipping preference... What i hope they are doing is asking apple to fulfill the order.... but if not i may just have to live with it. i've already saved 200 so i couldn't be more happier...

I agree. You snooze you lose. Can't blame Amazon for pulling the promo after their supplies ran out.

Do people bombard Ticketmaster with calls and emails if tickets to a concert sold out?

I just chatted with three more reps. They all think that the 256gb MBA will be shipped this week. They say that we don't have dates yet because they're not sure from which distribution center it will come.

Offer good while supplies last.

What supplies? All the MBP's are still available on Amazon for purchase right now. So clearly they didn't run out of MBP's. So therefore, they still have supplies. No?

AFAIK, none of us in this thread are official representatives of Amazon. Arguing with us about their terms and conditions will not help you with your order problem. Just keep trying to find a nice chat rep.

So they have them or they expect to get them? I hope they get enough for everyone this time. Apple is shipping these same day on their website so I don't understand the delay.

MBA 13/256 shipping!

Hi, I had ordered my 13/256 on Aug 7 with next day and I got an email saying it was shipping and it will arrive on the 18th! I've been a Prime member for about a year and I always buy stuff from Amazon. Brought a Kindle just for this offer but after seeing the other offers I think I will keep it.

My thoughts on why Amazon pulled the Apple laptops is that originally it wasn't an error to include them in the offer but the demand was so high that they couldn't keep up with demand and they probably figured it was easier on customer service to remove the offer than keep people waiting months for their computers. The fact that people were selling codes online probably didn't help either. I'm sure their goal was to generate Kindle sales and I think they had achieved it.

Good luck and I'm sure all that got their orders in will start seeing shipping dates!
