I am about to buy a new air, how do I get the discount? I know it's probably stated somewhere in here but I don't feel like digging through 1000+ posts. Would I save money buying a Kindle and getting code, or could someone give me one?
Thanks, much appreciated

Unfortunately, this deal has already ended since last Wednesday/Thursday. :(

Returning an unopened computer to Apple is a hugh YMMV. All laptops sold at apple are tracked at the serial number level. It means, that they can pull up the transaction simply by scanning the bar code and see exactly where it was purchased from.

I know this because I took my MBA that I bought in North Carolina to an Apple Store in Chicago to do a rebuy (I didn't get the gift card and printer the first time) and they scan the bar code and pulled up my info right away.

This means, that Apple should know immediately that the MBA didn't come from a store purchase and their policy is no refunds/credit/exchanges without a receipt. The fact that you got a gift card is lucky and I urge others not to waste their time trying to defraud apple.

If people are going to defraud Apple, it'd be nice if they didn't gloat about it in a public forum in a way that will encourage others to do the same.

Sigh. This is why we can't have nice things. This kind of abuse causes policies to tighten up, which then makes it harder later on for people to make legitimate exchanges.

Yes, it is getting a bit out of hand talking about these sneaky exchanges.

did anyone find out when the next batches of 11" mac book airs are going to ship (by chatting with amazon rep)?

Any Apple Retail Store can very easily look up where you purchased the computer, be it Best Buy, Amazon, etc. However, it's up to the store as to whether or not they honor your 'fraudulent' behavior.

just got another $25 OFF on my mb 13" 256 ssd order. woot 1175$ . thanks OP. you have just saved me bunch of money by being so generous!

Has anyone received a cancelation notice on your MBA?

My MBA delivery date has again slipped. It's now Aug 17-18. I originally ordered Aug 1. Delivery dates were Aug 5>8>12>15>16>18. Twice I have received emails asking me to approve the changed date otherwise the order would be cancelled. Has anyone else received these cancellation notices? I'm starting to consider getting the discount applied to the 11inch that I had originally ordered and was going to return (unopened.)

the idea to return it at an apple store and getting an upgrade can really work

even better is to call them and speak to them over the phone...if they agree just fix a time slot with a genius and that will make things easier.

exactly... i don't know why people are considering this fraudulent... but anyways im waiting on my mbp to be shipped ordered it yesterday

It's not fraudulent if you're upfront about where you got it from. If the Apple store is foolhardy enough to accept a laptop they didn't sell and give a gift card in exchange, that's 100% on them.

LOl.... of course... i am going to tell them i got it from amazon... thats my whole argument for going there and trying to get a bigger hard drive and apple remote....

Ordered 13/4/256 on 8/10/2011. Still haven't received a delivery estimate.

hmm seems like amazon is struggling with this laptop, this is the most expensive air right????? I ordered a pro two days ago... and i still haven't received an update but it says it will be here by the 25 of august.... so i don't know whats going on.

Ordered 11/1.6/128 on Monday 8/8. Received today 8/16. I know everyone is freaking out that they aren't going to get their laptops and you'll continue to freak out until it's in your hands. Here's how I think it's going to work and I hope it helps you feel better.

When Amazon is out of stock on something, they always give you the option of canceling your order. These 'cancellation' messages are standard fare. It doesn't mean your order is cancelled.

Amazon doesn't 'drop ship' which means they won't redirect shipment from apple directly to you. Imagine the scenarion where they are completely out of laptops from Apple as of 8/8 (the day most laptops went OOS). Amazon reorders on 8/9 to meet demand. 1000's of laptops were order over the weekend. An order comes into from Apple on 8/9. I'm giving Apple 2 business days to fulfill a 1000 laptop order and ship to Amazon. Amazon receives it on 8/12. First shipments go out 8/15. This is best case scenario. So for anyone who's dates are slipping, hold tight. It'll be here in another week or two, worst case in my opinion.

So has anyone in the past day or two gotten a sales associate to honor their promo code on the original list? I purchased a Kindle August 6, got the code August 7, but had to wait until I received a check this weekend (August 13) to purchase. Extremely disappointed that I did...

Yesterday the first associate I dealt with via email was a pain, the 2nd via phone was rather helpful, and assured me that I would be contacted again by a sales associate shortly to honor the code on one of the new Air's. And then no one ever contacted me.

So I had to contact a new rep today, this time via chat (as I like having the exact convo in text, saved as a Word doc). Well, the new rep played dumb for a little, then flipped it around and told me I was wrong. In fact he was rather rude, making it sound as though he thought I was dumb.

Regardless I've wasted a hours over the past 2 days dealing with this ***** and can't stand it. Who do I go to now? I'm ready to box up my Kindle and return it to the store even though I like it, just because I'm so sick of Amazon.

such a tease amazon!

I got 2 emails this morning from them but it wasn't shipping info for my 13/4/128 MBA I ordered on 8/5!!!

it depends what your getting....I order a macbook pro yesterday morning 10 am eastern time.... and they just took 20 percent off the order.... did have to go through 6 people though. The problem is most likely that you are trying to get the air.... not only are we getting these through a loophole but also they don't even have them in stock... so its really pushing it.... i would try to get a pro if you don't mind.... haven't heard of any recent "air" success stories ever since they sold out.

Good frick'n luck! I tried last wed & thursday and no luck. I went through about 14 cs reps no kid'n. 2 marketing reps. 4 kindle specialists, and 1 kindle specialist on the phone for 50 minutes. To end it all, I got black listed on the CS Chat. If I enter a chat, I just get blasted with 10 promo offers of random crap and upcoming sales, then the chat is auto terminated.

GO F YOURSELF AMAZON!

Sorry, I'm just still pissed at them cuz they screwed up my code (system error on their end) and then once it got fixed they refused to allow me to redeem the code on an air. I told them the code got screwed up when the air was available and I just want to get it cuz it was their fault. But nope.. sorry "choose from the new list". I told them, how about from the list I was sent? They said no, that was their mistake. Then I said, then it's your problem not mine, and all they said was "sorry". On the list sent to me, there was no disclaimer about changing terms, or while supplies last. Thats only found on the new list. Anyways, seriously, good luck.

Seriously? This is just complete ******** from amazon.

Interesting. They had 11 inchers (what I wanted) in stock and shipping Saturday, 8/13...

And so since I've been pushing for an Air switch to a Pro and tell the sales associate that I changed my mind? I guess I could try this...although I was really in the market for an Air. I've never had so much trouble getting a company to honor their mistake.

**UPDATE**

So I tried at least 6 times and all through the night last night on the phone, through chat, you name it.......I got the emails over and over again about if my problem was resolved, and I emailed each time with the same copy pasted email stating no, it was not resolved and here is my problem......

Well today I finally got the email from them saying to order the air and they would make a 1 time exception!!!! Im stoked, I ordered it and sent them the order number, this was just a bit ago so I haven't received anything back from them yet but at least I do have the email showing they committed to the one time exception. I guess you must be persistent! Luckily I was so mad last night that I kept at it!

Don't give up, just keep trying different ways......

Update 2.....just checked and my order total is adjusted....Order Total: $915.95
