I agree completely. Long time Amazon shopper here. Prime member. They've always treated me well...I am sick of how people boast about scamming the system...and then they act surprised when they get banned by Amazon.
I wish Amazon would follow up on this issue, as well.

It took less than 10 minutes chatting with a customer service rep named Kamal. $927.26 with two-day shipping vs. $1154.48 before the discount was applied. $227.22 saved.

I was getting frustrated with the wait times on the 128/13 MBA. I live chatted last night and spoke to Kumar to see if I could get them to switch it to the 256/13 MBA since the price had dropped and the wait times seemed to be shorter. He researched my order for about 5 minutes. (I'm sure he was seeing if the Kindle was linked to my account, which it was). He came back said he could do it, offered me 1 day shipping for free. Rather than have me cancel the order and place a new one, he just changed the original order from 8-6. My order is now "shipping soon", so hopefully I can get it this week. Almost 500 off of Apple's 1599 price if you factor in tax.

Meanwhile, I'm notebook-less and desktop-less. The hard drive on my iMac failed so it's being replaced. Thank goodness for AppleCare. 'limping along for now.
The 13/256 is also backordered, although they have been shipping better than the 13/128s.
13/256 seems to be up to 8/7 at 6:30 EDT on shipping. Hoping some group of selfish Slickdeals profiteers didn't order 24 of them each in the 30 hours between then and when I ordered mine.
I ordered mine on Saturday 8/6 and it showed up last Tuesday 8/16. It is the 13" 256. I'm in love BTW... I had planned on having to wait a long time for it, so I'm very excited to use it still. To be honest, until I opened up the box, I couldn't believe that I really bought it for that cheap...
I wasn't so lucky with my chat a minute ago. They wouldn't give me the additional price cut because I should have asked them at the time Amazon cut the price to $1549 (from $1594, Air 13/256). It would have been an additional $45 cut and my 20% Kindle Promo.
BUT, she gave me a $10 Promo credit for a future order and upgraded my Free Super Saver Shipping to 2-day Shipping ($26.45)
AND more specially - my shipping status was changed from "Shipping Soon" (Estimated Shipping Sept. 1-19) to DELIVERY DATE of August 27th!!!
This is what I like about these forums. Typically I just normally go to the Apple Website and place my orders and be done with it but because of these forums, I saved more than $500 and further learned (from Forum members) that there are indeed additional freebies if you just take the time to place a call or chat with the CSR's.
