Base 13 is on its way! Ordered on 08/06 at 9:30 AM PST. Originally had 08/31 - 09/21 delivery estimate -- will be delivered tomorrow, 08/26. Coming from Phoenix, AZ.

I'm desperate -- I can't handle another minute on this "ancient" 2010 13" MBA C2D.... ;)

Now I'm annoyed. I ordered a day before. Same model. No shipped notice. Maybe since I live in Phoenix I'll have a happy surprise.

Or maybe getting that price match bumped me down. Still says shipping soon. I have a lot to do mañana so hopefully I'm here if it does ship.

I ordered on Aug 10th, MBA 13/256gb, new shipping estimate - September 21, 2011 - October 4, 2011

The only good news is that it may be coming from Phoenix, there won't be additional delay
 
On 8/6, I ordered the 13" 4gb/128gb model. Yesterday, my shipping status changed from Not Yet Shipped to Shipping Soon. However, neither my del est of 8/31-9/20 nor my credit card have changed.

Sounds like you should be annoyed. You didn't place an order before the deal was pulled.

Well, I contacted support beforehand as I was waiting for the base 13 to come into stock, and I have emails explicitly stating they would honor the deal if I were to place the order when they were listed again as for sale by Amazon... I did this the first week I got the code, which was on 8/5.

But I now have to wait until Saturday for the "projects team" to come to a decision about my request. The CSR said both he and his supervisor were pushing for me, since my records clearly state Amazon would honor it, but they didn't personally have the authority to do so.

Which again, leads me to the arses who bought dozens of Kindles for codes and just returned them. If a company like Amazon, which normally has outstanding customer service, won't honor something they can see and have proof that they promised to me, then they must really be reeling from the abuse from this deal. Saving $300 is great, but it's too bad these people don't realize that abusing things like this will prevent these deals from happening in the future... at which point both they and everyone else loses far more.

I'm an undergrad at MIT and am running a preorientation program for incoming freshmen and finishing up work on my project, so I was pretty busy.

I believe I checked on the 7th or so, at which point it was no longer sold by Amazon, only resellers. So I emailed them to confirm that if I ordered when it was sold again by Amazon, if it was before the 9/8 expiration, I could get the credit, and was told yes.

When a company like Amazon says we'll do this for ya, why wouldn't you believe them? I am in no rush to get it anytime soon, so I don't mind the wait, and certainly was not expecting Amazon to renege on their promises. We'll see on Saturday whether they keep a 10k+/yr customer.

Toshiba / LG :) -- Yes, a smiley face.

This $975 Air does not suffer from the same defects as my 13" $1440 Ultimate (1440 after a 'free printer and iTunes GC -- 1640 in reality") with double Samsung. The uneven gradient the Ultimate suffered from is much less noticeable on my Base. My spacebar no longer squeaks - and the body no longer flexes and creaks.

So now. Why are people who ordered on the 6th getting shipped before those who ordered on the fifth again?
 
Just got the email and UPS tracking number.

13/128, ordered 8/6 11am CDT, changed payment method and to next day on 8/9. Got the "shipping soon" this morning but didn't get the tracking number until 10pm tonight. It's currently in Lexington, KY, and is scheduled to be here in Texas tomorrow.

This will be my first Apple computer since using an Apple II at work in 1985. :) I'm guessing things have changed since then.
