I disagree. Looking at the samsung I got this time I do prefer it colorwise. The SSD is noticeable when dumping memory cards.

That said I'd be fine with this combo if there weren't small imperfections on the lid. I'm deciding if I want to wait more and since I have to pay return shipping if it's worth the bother.

If it's defective, Amazon will pay the return shipping. Blemishes, as far as I am concerned, constitute a "defect."

I, however, would keep the double Samsung, but that is a decision only you can make. I am very OCD about defects myself...so I would be torn, too. I love my double Samsung...(I ended up with Samsung/Samsung after doing an exchange of my original 2011 MBA 13 128 for a 256. The original 128 had Toshiba/LG and I will admit it bugged me).

Instead of obsessing over what screen/SSD you got, why not just receive your MacBook Air and enjoy it?

Is the difference REALLY going to be that noticeable to you in real life? Be honest now.

I got samsung screen and toshiba drive. Itdoeant matter. I'm not swapping it out.

It has arrived! Got a deal of a lifetime! 13/i5/256 for 996.00 shipped! Guess it was worth it doing multiple chats a day with the CSR and complaining about the shipping delays (even though there was no delay at all and it actually arrived much earlier). They took off $300+ from the price of the order, in addition to the 20% off. So happy. Amazing deal. Oh and I got the Samsung SSD. They can even ban my account now if they want, i don't really care. I don't even use Amazon that often.

Enjoy your new machines guys!

Scamming at it's best. This is why we can't have nice things people.

i ordered on august 8th. each day after that, i chatted with CSR and complained about the shipping delays. They offered be $20-$25 promo credits each time for the inconvenience. $50 was the most I got in one session. of course there was some reps that refused to give anything. i just closed that chat and started a new one in that case. i then mentioned to them that the promo credits would be of no use to me for future purchases so they instead took the amount of the promo off of the price of the Macbook Air order each time. Over time it accumulated to $300ish. So the total came out to $996.

Don't worry, Amazon will flag his account like they did that guy on slickdeals.

they have already flagged my account. i got an email saying they will be carefully reviewing my account to determine if further action is necessary. i don't really care. i got my macbook already. they can close my account if they want, doesn't matter to me at this point.

You seem proud of your ability to scam and snake your way to such a discount... I mean it's one thing to say a few things to get a discount here and there but for you to adamantly lie so many times and then brag about it here like it's an accomplishment... I don't know, it just seems wrong for the people that might actually be facing legitimate shipping issues and might not be able to get this kind of service because of people that cheat the system. I don't mean to judge but honestly, it just seems excessively wrong.

Anyway for the rest that got their machines, congratulations, I hope you enjoy them! Hopefully I'll be getting a MBA myself sometime :D

there's nothing to be proud about. i'm simply just telling my story because someone had asked. of course, i am happy about getting a $1700 machine for <$1000, but i'm not bragging.

Is anyone else still in the 'shipping soon' stage? My card has already been charged. It's been like this since mid Thursday. Shouldn't it already have been shipped out?

EDIT: order date was 8/6

I didn't know that you did all of that. I was worrying that Amazon was going to doing this to me for asking about my shipping date a few times...

If I were a company, I would probably ban you too. Sorry.

Link to guy on slickdeals?

Whoops, I was wrong. It's actually drakkardnoir I quoted that got blackballed from earlier in this thread. That's what I get for browsing two different threads on two different sites :)

Why would you do that? You just hurt others when it comes to future problems.

Never mind, to each his own. I use Amazon way too much to take 300 dollars in their place.

Probably because he couldn't afford it? Why else would he nickel and dime it? Either way he has it and I highly doubt he's going to return the difference to Amazon. Maybe one day it will come back on him when he needs repairs? Not wishing anything bad on him, but what goes around usually comes around.

When I responded to him earlier about his possible banishment from Amazon, I really didn't realize the depths of his scam...Don't worry. He better hope there is nothing wrong with that MBA he got because if he tries to return it to Amazon, his account will be closed for sure.

Times like this I'm glad I'm well off enough that I don't have the inclination to pull stupid stunts like that. It's nice to save some money every once in awhile but if you need to harass, scam and cheat in order to afford stuff, get a freakin' job, or a better paying one.

Why would he send it back to Amazon? Apple will gladly fix any issues he has with it for free.

My order date was 8/6 and I'm still in "Shipping Soon" stage. In fact, since Wed, I have been in this stage. One thing, for me, early on (8/11), I changed payment method. Possibly, I could have been send back in the queue?
