I'm guessing Amazon got a shipment in of the base 13" Airs and then promptly ran out again. I ordered on 8/7 and it's never updated from Aug 13-Sep 26 estimated shipping. I got all excited too when people's orders started getting shipped. :(

Me too. Base 13" air ordered on 8/7 - I still show Aug 31-sept 13th as my expected ship date.

my macbook pro i ordered august 15 is finally in my hands... i had to ship it to my moms to avoid paying tax from amazon but today it arrived. i want to thank the person who first posted this, and my friend who gave me the 20 percent coupon even though i bashed him continuously about purchasing a kindle... thanks so much guys.

got the 15" mbp ultimate... lovin it for the price that i got it for. its unreal . 1430$ shipped. if it weren't for the OP, id've paid over 2000$ for it.

well, figured you all might be interested in this.

after my whole debacle, i finally have a computer coming tomorrow, and NO it is not my base 13 macbook air.

last night, i saw a random charge for 1139. apparently, a CSR decided to cancel my orignal order and place one for an 11 inch air, which they quickly fixed. Problem was that they already charged my card and in turn, moved me out of line on the base 13 inch. Therefore, I was looking at a ship date of past OCTOBER 1st.

Needless to say, i was pretty upset.

That all being said, i got a manager on the phone and they quickly took care of me. Based on the manager, they could do nothing to move me back up in line for the 13 inch air. As result, the manager asked if i might be interseted in a different machine, and asked about a macbook pro. Just for the hell of it, i threw out the 15in base pro and asked if i could get that for the same price ($970) as my air.

HE AGREED!!

So, while im definetly a bit upset about not getting a new air, a 15 in pro with quad core i7 was just too good a deal at $970 to pass up.

My new computer will be here tomorrow. I figure if worst comes to worst, i will sell the pro and get an air. But i think ill like having the 15in pro.

Final details are:

WOW! I'd have thought maybe they'd give you a 13" Pro at a discounted price, but a 15" is incredible. Perhaps you should just sell it when you get it and use the money to get an in-stock 11" Air from Amazon or 13" model from one of Amazon's partner, considering that you really wanted the Air?

the truth is i only jumped onto this deal as i could get an air 13 for under a grand shipped. my most immediate conecrn was getting a computer ASAP for work as my 2006 (!) white macbook took a crap (more like, i dropped it and cracked the screen)

the way i figured at the time, i could get the 13in air and a 13 in pro at about the same price (about 950) with the deal.

so, when the CSR manager threw out the 15 in model, how could i say no? my life just became a little less portable, but i think ill enjoy the more powerful computer and huge (comparatively) screen.

Is this deal still on?

I see a bunch of people selling the code. I’m wondering if this deal is dead? According to the seller, I can use the code until Sept 8th.

The 2011 MacBook Air and Pro models were pulled from the promotion about 3 weeks ago. Some people have gotten CSRs to apply the discount, but it's extremely iffy right now, particularly for codes purchased from eBay. Most of the remaining notebooks are in the $350-700 range.

The seller provide a link of eligible laptops:

http://www.amazon.com/s/?emi=ATVPDKIKX0DER&node=565108

And the latest air is one of em.

Is that link still valid?

Does changing your shipping address move you to the back of the line? I had to change it because I moved since I ordered the MBA. My new estimate is now August 31st-Oct 10.

Awesome deal! A few months ago, I had the 2010 15" mbp and it was a great laptop. Even though it's not as portable as the airs, it still is very portable. When the time comes, you're going to have a hard decision choosing between the pro and an air. They're both sweet machines.

What was it before?
If you are 256 13", thats not the back of the line.

128 13". Also I just moved to the other side of town so it is not like they are changing warehouse centers. Its still most likely going to come from Sparks, NV.

Unbelievable! Thrilled!

After seven chat representatives I asked for a link to close my account with Amazon. In the email I received, at the bottom, there was a link (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/survey?p=A3CU109K6FDH99&k=hn) if you were not satisfied. I gave very poor ratings aside from average rating for the representative that was only doing her job. It then allowed me to speak to a representative. I pressed call me and my phone rang. I spoke to Denne and she overrode and applied the discount in five minutes.

Thank you Amazon! Got a 13.3/i5/256GB reduced to $1250.82 with Two-Day Shipping :)
