Ordered the base 13" MacBook Air on 8/10 and it is now shipping soon with a 9/13 estimate. Looks like they got a bunch of them in. The one month wait was totally worth saving $450 if I had bought it at the Apple Store.

Thank God I didn't ask them to switch my order and discount to the 128GB 11" model when they had them in stock a week ago.

I ordered relatively late, 8/23, and I'm seeing delivery by 9/14.

It seems Amazon's supply has finally met demand.

If you are near an Apple Store just take it in to the Genius Bar.

I don't think they do exchanges on non-Apple store purchased machines - or at least you had to go through hell and back to do it back when I worked there. To be fair though, that was a loooong time ago. I know I'm not willing to let them do a repair on a 1 day old machine.

The Amazon exchange process was insanely simple. I just filled out a web form, printed the label and took it to the post office, which is 3 blocks from my house. The new one is estimated to be here Wednesday, which is ok with me as long as the new one works correctly and the return is processed without any hassle.

I think this is hit or miss depending who you speak with at each store. There are two Apple stores in my town. One is very busy and a bit more difficult to get exceptions made (at least it seemed that way the couple times I've had problems and had to go there; maybe it was just the rep I was dealing with, though). The other store is newer, less crowded, and has been quicker to make exceptions, in my experience.

ahh i missed this 20% deal...

what is the cheapest place that i can buy macbook air 13" for less that what apple is selling right now?

Did Amazon pay for return shipping? I didn't think that they did that for expensive items like laptops. I thought they reimbursed shipping costs afterward.

I had to pay for shipping, it was around 12$ at the post office. They give you an address label to print out along with an RMA form to put in the box. Once the return goes through they are supposed to credit that back to you. We will see how that part goes.

You could have selected a printed ups label no cost to you. Amazon pays for all return shipping on any defective item bought from amazon directly. If it's a cheap item they tell you to keep it and send out a replacement. With a free prime membership they are hard to beat.

Great news email...

Not to piss anyone off but I bought the 1.7/4GB/256 on September 6 and it will be delivered on September 13!

What do you mean? I used my two KSO coupons the kindle rep had to apply them and I had to pay for the 1 day shipping they never refunded that.
What? The rep applied BOTH coupons to one MacBook? You lucked out by getting one of the stupidest, or at least most apathetic, reps at Amazon if so...
