Here is your logic applied to desktops:

"I bought a Mac Mini when, in reality, I should have bought a high end Mac Pro. It's Apple's fault that the Mac Mini isn't working out for me since they could have provided a better machine".

Apple did provide a better machine...you bought the wrong MacBook Pro!!

15" Still has no magsafe, stupid dongles, stupid keyboard etc.

You aren't giving advice in other threads

yes I am.
[doublepost=1484512562][/doublepost]
Next time i visit the Apple Store i am going to give the new Mac Book Pro a real good looking, i want to see if it has really improved over my six year old MBP.
Do so, but frankly I'd wait for the 2017 update.

Disclaimer : This is a rant. If you love your machine, don't read, don't comment, don't troll (you know who you are).

Look at it. Look a those adapters.
It's ****.

It looks even more ridiculous with a USB stick on the "long" adapter. If you accept that or think it's ok in anyway, you'd be happy to buy a turd painted golden and labelled Apple.
Actually I'm sure the people happy with that idiotic situation would have been happy with anything regardless : identical set of port as for the 2015, no jack for the headphones, or even just two USB-c and nothing else.
Why do I mention this ? Well i think it's part of the problem. From the moment people are happy to buy literally ****ing anything, then you get crappy products like this one.

Not only it looks ugly and it's impractical, but it's infuriating too :
Since USB-C can be in either direction, it means that the adapter will also be in either directions, which means you have to do the "guess game" when plugging in your usb stick because maybe facing down is the right direction.
Ridiculous.

Battery is super weak, I still get 3h/3hour30 max of use. And that's with the non-intensive use. And yes, this time it's with the external screen not connected so no excuse.

Speaking of screen, quite oftenwhen the mac goes to sleep, to re-enable the display I have to turn on / off the display several time, and unplug it and replug it. like, 4-6 times. until somehow it works.
It's so annoying.

While I got used to the terrible keyboard, still when going back to a normal one I remember how much I miss my old keyboard.

Touchbar is in the way. I really waited to see if I'd use it and if it brings anything to the table, but more often than not it's buggy ( clicking on luminosity / sound icons don't do anything for instance) and I find the virtual buttons completely useless (like really, you're going to use those to confirm / cancel , rather than the enter key or tab / arrows ?! ), it's overall useless and in the way rather than bringing anything.

I hate not being able to plug my iPhone 7 to charge if I forgot my adapter at home. I ****ing hate it.

I hate I don't have a magsafe so I have to rely on a frankly ****** battery life when I'm in the living room because I have a dog and a toddler and they already almost took it down twice.

This adds to the other things I didn't like with this iteration: old processor, limited ram (granted I only need 16gb ... or do I ?), unimpressive screen and screen resolution, idiotic limitation on 4k due to adapter ...

With macOS crashing a couple of times last week, it looks like everything is pushing me to leave this and go for a Linux / Windows combo. And man, I really do not like Windows.

This maxed out 13" is a 4060$ piece of garbage, and I really don't recommend it to anyone.
Oh, it's pretty, so you can flatter your ego and display your wealth in coffee shops.

</rant>

If I hadn't figured out that USB-C is specifically designed to be plugged in either way round and was spending time trying to make sure plugged in the right way round then I too would be pretty peeved, wasting my time.

One of the goals of USB-C was to be reversible so that didn't have to work out which way round the cable goes in. Apparently some special lambs found it very difficult to plug USB-A connectors in the correct way.

As others said either sort out a Dock with the additional ports that you need if you couldn't figure out that a USB-C only laptop would need new cables or adaptors.

For the iPhone simply get a USB-C to Lightning Cable and then don't need an adaptor. Instead of a USB-A to Lightning and an adaptor to carry.

In terms of Old Processor then at launch date then what newer processor was available? Kaby Lake wasn't available till AFTER these launched.

Seriously if going to rant about stuff then make sure ranting about stuff that is actually correct not down to lack of prior research and understanding.

And no I don't have one of the 2016 laptops they don't meet my needs! As such won't be buying one.

Hello Steve,

No need for the condescending tone, that's ******, like a certain macbook iteration :)
Talk about being childish ...

There is no ruse, if you look at my post history you'll see I was even a bit surprised at first about the amount of anger / conflict on macrumors on this machine at first.
After a while using it though I get it, it is a true lemon, and it's upsetting.

And I'll say it again : it wouldn't come to my mind (or other disappointed people's minds) to go on a thread named "I love my macBook Pro" , starts with "I just adore my machine, this is an ode to it, if you don't like it please refrain from commenting", and then start to comment about how the author and other people are wrong to love their machines.

I'm not sure about what you mean in a fantasy list, but that basically revolves around the same thing as usual : "Oh you don't like the laptop or had higher expectations? You must be wrong, let me explain you why " I have already answered such posts.

I think we all know whos being childish here .... you know sticks and stones :D

I have read your posts and you could not possibly be surprised and just before you start barking up the wrong tree I would not buy the current tbMBP. I'm reasonably indifferent to users who love or hate the MBP

However he's a few little memory jogs for you based on what I gleamed from your postings:

You hate Win10 OS as it's more buggy
You prefer MacOS
You loath GUI of Outlook and many other progs on Win10
You would love Razor blade if it could run MacOS
You ignored your friends/colleagues advice to change your development platform
You hate Apple pricing
You hate Norwegian taxation on laptops
You think every MAC has always been compromised spec wise
You dislike almost everything new about the latest MBP
You would like to have more than 60 Tabs open at a time
You game on windows
You have been using MacOS for 10 years but you are not a fanboy
You can't read the print on the Apple dongle to decide which way up
You have other Apple ECO items and moan about them too
You got your new employer to buy your latest laptop
The list goes on and on Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You almost hate every laptop available as none meet your very specific requirents and are never likely to be so unless you become a OEM yourself.

You want us to believe that someone who may well be informed and knowledgeable was surprised........

Give me a break this thread is not a rant it's click bait at best

The only difference between your picture and my work setup is 3...as in 3 years because mine is a 15" MBP 2013. Everyday I have this ritual of connecting USB-A, mDP, Thunderbolt and MagSafe 2 as well as disconnecting all of them. And yes, that might happen multiple times a day due to meetings and such. I'd rather have a 2016 MBP for work like my colleagues with the USB-C dock from Caldigit. The only thing I have to plug and unplug then is 1 USB-C connector. It would be a similar experience as people with HP, Lenovo/IBM, etc. have had for years with their proprietary docking stations.

Simply put: if you find the cabling to be a mess, you do not want the older MBP models because they will not solve anything (well, the use of adapters perhaps, although you're still going to need one for ethernet). Be careful what you wish for!

*sigh*. No.
7500U was available for the 13" , 6% to 15% better perfs (unless you take the best 13" TB, add 400$ for the top CPU option, and then it wins ...by 1.15%), uses only 60% of TDP, has better decoding options.

I don`t see any problem with any of this ? I play games on Windows... What, it`s forbidden ?

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

You need to get over yourself. Hey, you had a return period.

Nobody cares about your whining or ordering other members what to do.

My machine is amazing, with battery life even better than Apple promised.

If you don't like adapters, get replacement Monoprice cables and S T F U.

Most other complaints are not worth my time.

Keyboard is just preference. I thought I would hate it, but I love it.

Not really, another way to see it is that Apple could have provided a better machine, like many of us wanted. It's not like I'm the only one disliking this iteration.
Lol, Just tell this to your employer. Don't be embarrassed. Tell him this whole ugly predicament is all Apple's fault. I am sure he'll understand.

Living proof that this forum is an echo chamber. Those who are having a good time with the 2016 models are bullied into not posting at all. It's unfortunate that you are resistant to change and that things like your $10 USB stick no longer work without an adapter. The answer? Get a new USB stick. You carry the laptop with power adapter in your bag right? So in the same place you put your power brick, let's go ahead and throw two USB-C to A adapters and whatever else you need. I've never been caught out without those things because they travel in the bag that my laptop is in. Not hard.

Sell it, return it, whatever - but USB-C is here to stay.

I can't find any written data that came with it as to what my old Mac Book Pro has besides it has a i7 processor. anyone have any idea what this MBP has inside?

Exagerrated for you. I think it's a piece of ****, a stupid decision and I hate those adapters, the display issue it might cause, the flip around game . It's ugly, it's unpractical, and it lowers the output in HDMI. It's pure ****.
But good on you if you don't care, really.

The HDMI port is no less capable than it always has been.

The HDMI port is no less capable than it always has been.
In a sense you're right, since the previous one wasn't HDMI 2.0
But as of now (AFAIK), until Belkin releases its dock (that they guaranteed me is up to the task), you can't get decent 4k (meaning, @ 60hz).
All adapters on the market so far are limiting the output to 30HZ despite the vast bandwidth available with USB-C.

If it is just one thing this thread has got me doing, it's i have the old Mac Book Pro right next to me and am using it again.
I have noticed all computers today don't include the CD disk copy system am being told use an external one.

Care to find the Quad Kaby for the 15 or are you expecting Apple to use Kaby on the 13 and Skylake on the 15, then really watch people complain.

I apologize, but I became completely sidetracked staring at those massive fingerprint smudges on your screen lol.

Didn't they already did that (Haswell / Broadwell ) ?

Coud have been ok to wait a month more and get the nice quad Kaby indeed for the 15". I'm not sure people would have been pissed by hearing : we want to give you the best, so the 15 inches will arrive later.
I don't think you would have heard people saying "oh no, I really wanted the SL". My 2 cents.

Or you know, the absolutely *insane* option : Release macs with SL right after they were available, and then release this iteration when both KL were here (ie right now).

This drives me crazy, good thing I love her :D

My 2 cents.

Yes, in need of 2 cents.

how does the Touch Bar escape key work out as a programmer?
my personal gathering og info ranges from sufficient to burdensome. one of the most severe cases was that it was too sensitive in contrast to a physical button. it got triggered too easily. im typing this on an ipad and the feel of a touchscreen keyboard is not giving me any grace. rather flat and without emotion. i also agree with your take on function keys, that they can be operated without using the eye, in "blind" mode.

i've found solutions for the USB-C problem with new cables and docking, the battery is being fixed by software update (at least the 15" version), but i'm still not sold on the touch bar as I use cmd+alt+shift shortcuts anyway. since you are beating this machine to death, can you please rant a bit on touch bar?

I feel this post adds to my concerns regarding buying one

Robert...

You registered two weeks before the launch, and your biased blessings of this machine is starting to make me believe you are a Pro user after all. If I was to write such lengthy posts with nothing but blessings I would also need a check from an ad agency at the end. With the stamina and quantity of posts of your profile, you are either a freelancer in a basement sharpening his axe or a professional copywriter. All products have flaws, even a Koeningsegg car or a Patek watch, and critics will point them out, even if they like the product. You seem too evangalised and uninterested in peoples issues with the new MacBook Pro to even be a owner.
