It's definitely not waterproof by any means. It says water resistant, recommends against submersion, and does not list an IP rating.

You really ought to fact check things you're about to post on a forum like this, so you don't seem foolish.

iPhone X is rated IP67 - up to 30 minutes and 3 feet of submersion. So there's the waterproof (or at least, highly water resistant)

This is listed on apple.com (https://www.apple.com/lae/iphone-x/specs/) on the iPhone X specs page.

It's time to let the headphone jack BS Already, we get that, they think they care and apple don't, it's SO not true because if all the companies had OnePlus mentality we we're still using floppy drives

Apple take care of the customer by taking out the old stuff for a better products in the longrun, think about that

Since using Bose Bluetooth Headphones - a once in many years investment - I came to the conclusion that a headphone jack really is obsolete.
Since using a driverless car I came to the conclusion that drivers weren't needed and now I decree that I am removing your steering wheel from your car. I don't care that you don't have the choice do drive if you want to, so long as I am ok because I don't like to drive and driverless is all I need.

Making fun of Apple in keynotes is still a thing? At what point does it say more about the company poking fun than it does Apple?
Apple pokes fun at others too...

Apple takes care of itself. Apple makes great products that unfortunately do not play well with other brands which is a major shame.

Your argument is so flawed and not appropriate.
Think transition period. I think that Apple has forgotten what it means and doesn't care.

In video claims was selling over 7,000 OnePlus 5's per minute,
that would be 420,000 per hour,
10 million per day,
over 300 million in a month
3.6 billion in a year,
hmmm....
sounds a bit optimistic

Haha..they poke fun at Apple’s removal of the jack and copy Apple’s unnecessary notch design at the same time.

Personally I think the headphone jack needs to stay on tablets, laptops and desktops, but I can take it or leave it on a smartphone.

That ugly notch, on the other hand, is a 100% NO for me on any phone from any company.
The OnePlus has a chin too because they are terrible at hardware.

Courage - the act of purposely gimping a product, so you can also sell the solution for $159. All the while, your fanbois shout down anyone who objects to this purely money making effort and purposeful gimping.

Except, the product is not "gimped" as you characterize it and no one is obligated to buy Apples bluetooth headset. You can get lightning headphones which clearly give better sound then audio jack headsets or if you feel "forced" into having to do that you have a adapter given to you to keep using your own old headphones. To say the reason for eliminating the jack just to make money on a so called solution is laughable and a really uninformed comment. When your looking for vital space inside a smartphone, the space used by the jack is useless.

What's a headphone jack? Like arguing about CD's vs cassettes. That tech is aging out very quickly.

except for the fact that outside the phone world, it is the universal standard for audio connectivity. All computers, stereo equipment, and virtually every other device that uses audio input and output.

Apple's move to remove the headphone jack from their phone had nothing to do with "advancing tech", since wireless tech and the headphone jack are not mutually exclusive (you can use both on the same device and they don't interfere with eachother in any way). This means that Apple had other motivations for it's removal outside of "technological advancement" since there was no technical or practical reason for it.

The android phoens that have done so, are just copying a trend, which is even more asinine. And as a person who likes using a combination of wired headphones in some situations and wireless in others where practical, I will NOT buy a phone that removes the headphone jack.

Another knockoff of the Galaxy phablet just like the iPhone X. Samsung may end up as the only premium brand with audio jack and no fugly notch.

Earlier today in the gym I was using my wired earbuds to connect to the TV monitors that are installed on bikes, treadmills etc. and I thought: "How would I do it with BT earbuds?".

Ha. My gym is the opposite. Everything is BT.

I just had to order a cheap BT headset. No need to spend much when you are huffing and puffing while climbing an endless set to stairs.

Dare you to tell that to a firefighter the next time you see one running into a burning building.

Or a vet.

running into a building that is burning to the ground to save someone is stupid. it's putting two lives at risk instead of the one inside and doesn't change my point.

However, I appreciate that these folks do this. it IS couragious, even by my definition and I am thankful for all of our first responders who regularly risk their lives to save those in need. (and of the police and firepeople I know, they would agree, what they do is often reckless and stupid, but it's part of the job to save lives)

I'm not sure what an animal doctor has to do with anything though.

The joke is certainly on them. I bet they mocked the iPhone X notch last year too.

Now they’re swallowing their dignity with a copycat notch that looks like Samsung and Apple had a baby devoid of any imagination whatsoever. It literally looks like a Galaxy and iPhone X.

“Just merge the two most popular phones and we’ve got ourselves a winner winner chicken dinner!”

I view the removal of the headphone jack in the same lens as Apple removing flash support from ios to help push html 5 and native iOS apps.

You are inconvenienced in the short run, but win out in the long run as more developers support the standard you wish to push for (really for lack of a better alternative).

So in short, removing the headphone does suck now (though I am personally indifferent to it) but I believe it will all be worth it in the future.

ive got the white OnePlus 5T. good device, camera is only so-so though, which is surprising because supposedly its the same sensor as in the X. goes to show its not all just about hardware (but i will say, having 8GB on a phone is really, really nice. Lag, what? reloading pages and apps when switching between them? huh?)

These Android phones are becoming more yawn. It's all the same...Jony Ive deserves all the credit in the world as his design inspired hundreds of Android companies try and be like Apple. Kudos to Ive for the inspiration!!!

I’m ditching my iPhone
for one of these. I’ve always had iPhones since the 3GS, but they’re just too expensive now compared to what they have over the competition. Since iOS11, my current 6S runs like a cheap and nasty, laggy budget Android phone; whats the point in paying a premium when the phones are ready for the bin after 2 years? iPhones never used to be like that.

Might come to regret switching, but its the first time i even thought about it for many years and at half the price of an iPhone X I’m giving it a shot.

The DACs build into these phones with headphone jacks are Crap. I have wired headphone plugged into a portable hifi DAC and it is so much better that any headphone jack on these phone's. The headphone jack is dead people. Apple should supply AirPods with the iPhone for free tho.

The crappy DACs still produce far superior audio than bluetooth headphones. Sorry.

Wow $529, color me impressed. Seems like a nice phone, and finally something that is reasonably priced. I'll bet it sells like hotcakes.
