My O2 contract wont expire until March so I might be fortunate if Vodafone introduce the iPhone by then. Fortunate, in that I can compare all three, I mean.

Still, looking at what Orange is offering I'm not seeing any competition here. I hope Orange don't think they're going to woo O2 customers (with perfectly good reception etc) with these prices...

£184.50 for the handset on a £35/month contract?!

It doesn't matter how much better O2's data limits are when their reception is so useless - often not even a phone signal let alone data. Hoping Orange's will be better, then I'll consider upgrading from my 9-year-old Nokia.

Your 9 year-old Nokia has data? I thought it was all about WAP back then...

I find it ridiculous that companies today allow themselves to say that something is "Unlimited" while it is NOT unlimited.

Completely agree.

On the other hand, I hope this makes O2 drop prices.

I hope not. O2 pricing is not expensive and they seem to have tolerated just about anything on their network. Cutting prices will mean restrictions - and we desperately need the investment.

iPhone on Orange UK

Just ordered mine for delivery on or just after 10 Nov: 3GS (white).

Queried the 3G data cap: fair use is (off the record I was told) rarely enforced and would just amount to a warning letter if you regularly exceed it unless you take the p***.

The wifi is through BT openzone as o2.

To me, doesn't seem such a bad deal; will see if the 'fair use' comes back to bit me in the tochas!

I hope you don't enjoy MSN Messenger and YouTube! Also O2 offer Cloud in addition to Openzone.

moving

I am very disappointed that the tariffs are almost identical. I mean that is pretty poor.

What is even worse is that I am now out of contract and am moving to the business tariff on vodafone (not iphone tariff) and I get unlim minutes, unlim texts and unlim data for £30 a month. O2 have point blank refused to unlock my phone! I will pay the £40 for to unlockiphoneuk.com and do it anyway.

I hate O2 now with a passion. Their data network is nowhere near as good as Vodafone anyway!

Vodafone have told me that the iphone is coming to them in January

Don't know how they plan to pull away some O2 customers with pretty much identical plans.

All they needed to do was up the texts on all plans, that would be enough for half of my textaholic friends to switch.

Wait a few more days, unlocking is on the way. :)

Pretty underwhelming, i'll just get an iPhone pre pay, pop my orange SIM into it. (as long as i can do that?) I get 1200 minutes, 500 text and 500 meg data a month for £30 a month, which isnt bad in the grand scheme of things. Also, that way i can just swap it out for a 4th Gen next summer.

Haaa haaaa haaa, haaa haaa haaa, my sides are splitting. All 0-range are gonna do is sell a few of their customers an iPhone, would anyone really leave O2 for that ?

Vodafone could totally clear up on this if they come up with a tactical package, and their coverage is better than either O2 or 0-range especially out of towns.

Go Vodafone!!!

Anybody remember what happened when the iphone was announced on O2. 250mb fare use cap. We complained so much to the advertising authority and here on MR. They got rid of it. Don't worry, there wont be such a stupid cap anyways.

O2 have effectively put on a cap on downloads by having a crap 3G network. At work I barely get GPRS and I use my WiFi at home, where I again get barely GPRS. I have used 510MB uploaded and 2.4GB downloaded since 19/07/08 which works out at under 200MB a month. Didn't o2 originally say they were going to cap downloads at 200MB? Well they managed it for me.

When did O2 last invest in their infrastructure?

Since Maggies days, most UK businesses especially utility providers are geared up for making shareholders profit, certainly not about fair deals for the consumer.

Do they support visual voicemail?

All iphone tariffs will support visual voicemail I have been led to believe. I personally have used the text notification service since moving off an iphone tariff and have found it much more reliable. I actually get a voicemail notification the second I get reception again rather than 3 hours later!

Which is why I have no problem moving to vodafone now and using that £30 a month for unlim texts/mins and not have it. I regularly get bills in excess of £100 a month because I use the phone that much. big saving for me even if I have to buy an iphone outright every year!
