Hi Harry, have followed the link to the spreadsheet and filled out the form, how do you view the actual spreadsheet, every link i found to it takes me to the questionnaire form again, thanks for all the work your going to, would like to see where i am in process to others, ordered 11/4/15 just before midday so a long way to go 42SG B2B
cheers

UKMail seems to be back up now and showing expected delivery of 5 May, so hopefully it was just their DB updating. I got an email suggesting I sign up for personal set up as well, so assume it's going to happen sooner rather than later.

Hi Delta,

Sure here is the link. If you view on iOS you don't get a good view of it all. Better to view on a desktop browser.

just googled my local depot and it says it is open monday 8-8, however this might not apply to a bank holiday monday only a working day monday, i would call before making the trip.

I'm passing the time by designing a portable watch charger/dock.

I travel around the world constantly and thought it's be cool to have a way to charge the watch without needing mains all the time.

With a 2000mAh Li-ion battery I should be able to recharge the watch around 8 times maybe more.

I'm just 3D printing the case now. If it works I'll upload a photo or two later.

Awesome! Would love to see it :p

I'm only 20-30 mins away so i might just chance it. my status is collected, so i think its there.

They won't let you have it, even if you went down. They have to make an 'attempted delivery' first (it sucks)... Been waiting 3days for my watch as UK Mail have it!! Last day of waiting tomorrow. Will be delivered Tuesday :)

Not a fan of these bank holidays.

Having worked in retail for over 8 years this is my first bank holiday. (Left work, am student again)

And Apple have ruined it xD. I wanted to spend my bank holiday with my lovely apple watch, but no, and with it being a bank holiday even if I was to get a delivery next working day, it'd be bloody tuesday!

Grrrr. Why couldn't they of just pushed everything back about 2 - 3 weeks each so that they'd have a huge stockpile so everyone could have one?

End rant

That is so interesting to read! I mean, I never thought about the Watch as a device that you don't "play" with. I have been thinking that I would enjoy using it as a consumption device

Yeah. There are some things you can consume on it, obviously, but I think it's very unsuited to that sort of thing. It's best used for interactions that take a few seconds at most (like quickly opening the Deliveries app to see if my MacBook has hopped to a new country yet ;)

I certainly can't imagine that reading through something like Twitter timelines on it would be fun, the arm strain alone would kill the fun in that sort of thing. It's also very telling that there isn't even an attempt at a browser on the thing.

I'm also blown away by the battery life on the 42mm. I knew going into it that all their 18 hour estimates related to the 38mm, but I wasn't expecting it to be this much better. For each of the last three days I've had just phenomenal performance. For example, I got up around 6am today, I've been out and about all day, so the watch has been my primary source of notifications, I had it tracking a workout for an hour, I used it to control my AppleTV when the kids were watching their pre-dinner cartoons, I checked the location of my MacBook pre-order a few times, and right now (19:45), it's at 71% battery.

Other random thoughts:
  1. The box is insanely heavy. 1kg in its shipping carton, for a ~100g watch and maybe double that for the charger/cable. The rest seems to all be the plastic watch box and the cardboard box it lives in. All of the packaging is very high quality, and I particularly like that Apple has switched from clear/shiny plastic wrap for chargers/cables/etc. to a slightly opaque/matte plastic.
  2. Syncing settings you make in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone seems to happen pretty much instantly
  3. App installs from the iPhone are very quick, taking just a few seconds typically
  4. Carefully select your Glances - the fewer the better, otherwise you spend all your time swiping sideways to get to the one you want
  5. I really hate the way the Friends wheel works, if you spin the crown really slowly, you never advance to the next friend, you have to spin the crown fairly fast to actually get it to move person
  6. I have no idea how the pairing works, it seems like the Watch screen is blank during the pairing phase, but you're using the camera on the iPhone to do the pairing. Very odd, but magical.
  7. Utility is clearly the best watchface - it's simple and clean and you get 4 spaces for complications
  8. Third party complications feel like they would be far more important to me than third party watchfaces
  9. The overall fit and finish is as high as Apple has ever managed
  10. Despite my initial cynicism, the little Move/Stand/Exercise colour circles really do make me want to try harder to be vaguely healthy!
  11. The thing seems fairly tough. I've already dropped it - it landed flat on the glass face on a stone tile in my bathroom. I was sure I'd be picking it up and looking at a smashed screen, but not a mark or a scratch or a dent to be found anywhere
  12. Given the previous item, AppleCare+ seems like a must, and is very cheap ;)

Well because I am now quite worried that the modern buckle will ever be shipped I have just ordered a 38mm SS BSB - see which comes first - I have a Milanese strap on separate order.

I'm going crazy!!

I ordered the SS with modern buckle on release day, got tired of waiting on Thursday and ordered the SS BSB - it was despatched on Friday (have to wait til Tuesday for delivery). Im sure your SS BSB will be despatched very soon! I think there's a problem with the modern buckle - why else is it not available to order separately.

Ooh that's hopeful then :)

How long does the turnaround time from when it changes to 'preparing to ship' to receiving delivery?

Say us 8.07 order lot get this update on Tuesday - when we will get the watch?

Being one of the 8.07 crew I'm hoping it'll be preparing for dispatch on Tuesday and be delivered on Wednesday. I'm working from home for this week only so it being delivered Wednesday would be perfect. Or am I being just too optimistic?

i went yesterday and they didn't have it, but they would have let me have it i reckon.

some other guy a couple of pages ago went down and got his yesterday.

Really? I called them up to ask - even stating i can show them my order status page (on Apple's website) to prove i own the Watch - and they wouldn't let me... Hate UKMail.

----------

what is their delivery policy? can you deliver to neighbour or change address? Am thinking no..

UKMail require you to contact Apple first to ask if it's 'ok' to deliver to your neighbour before you contact them to ask for rearrangements... Awful service.

I've been watching this thread for some time now. Much as I (REALLY) want my watch, I can't help but be surprised by some peoples impatience. On one hand, I understand the level of frustration felt by customers who expect a certain level of service from a vendor but for ****** sake. There's worse things going off in the world than a few weeks wait for a gadget that will be out of date in less time that some poor souls have to live. Get real people.
(PS, No I'm not a hippie, just a bit drunk).

It's called cybertherapy
This is the place to scream and shout and get angry
Nobody else would understand ;)
