The computer only knows what it's instructed to do. With more and more threats from outside sources trying to get into your computer and "instructing" with garbage, spam, spyware, viruses, etc., the more that security measures have to go up. And the only way to tell it is through these "popups" of which you speak. One day, we'll be able to talk to our computer so well that, with voice recognition software, we'll just be able to say "Authentication" and we'll be able to move along a lot quickly.iGary said:Is it just me, or is OS X becoming more Windows-like with all the security logins and "do you want to do this" popups these days? I mean better safe than sorry, but sheesh.
I did. Didn't work. I had to reinstall 10.4, then do all the updates again. That solved the problem.rdowns said:Try downloading the 10.4.2 update from Apple's site and reinstalling.

This is all simply by being on the internet. Those without service have no clue what most computer owners go through... and those who've always owned a Mac.![]()
iMeowbot said:Yes, definitely. "Easy" is all relative. Arthritis, for example, makes scrolling multi-button mice a lot less attractive than a mouse with a single palm-initiated click and a rich set of keyboard functions. Show an older Mac user that list of keyboard shortcuts and you'll have a new bestest friend.
For the little ones, ask a room full of six year old kids to hold out their left hands, and half will hold out the right. Plenty of people never get that straightened out!
Those aren't obscure edge cases, they are perfectly normal people at different stages of life. You know, "the rest of us."

IMAP still appears to be fundamentally broken here toob3nlord said:I'm still getting the "Loading Message" when opening new mail even after the update. Is anyone actually seeing a fixed MAIL with the 10.4.2 update? It's just as bad as it was before for me (using IMAP).
