Could be. I got a new Razr V3 Monday. I was bummed, because iSync would not recognize it via Bluetooth to sync calendars and contacts. USB worked fine.

I tried it after installing 10.4.2 last night and it worked like a charm via Bluetooth.

I am a very happy camper at the moment. :D

Oh man, that's great news! I just ordered one from T-Mobile after I saw it was compatible Apple's iSync list. Glad to hear it's working now. Can't wait to get mine!

What kind of iBook? How old is it, and what was the original OS version? Is your hard disk a journalled MacHFS+ volume? I'm not sure that was a default on all earlier versions of OS X (It was in Panther, and I *think* it was in Jag). When you re-installed, have you tried reformatting the disk in the process?

G3 iBook, few years old now. Originally came with... 10.2 probably? Yes, when I installed Tiger I did a clean install. Noticed the Spotlight prob, clean installed AGAIN, still the same.

As far as the Spotlight preferences trick, tried it. No dice. IN FACT... I just remembered. I ran Norton, and Norton didn't even detect my HD! It's like it doesn't exist... bizarre. Never had this problem before Tiger. Everything else works fine, though.

I hope this fixes widgets eating massive amounts of memory. The Apple-supplied weather widget was eating 80mb of real ram yesterday, as was the weather radar widget. I couldn't figure

I was wondering where most of my 3 gig went the other day. I looked in Activity Monitor at all processes and noticed that the To Do Tracker from MonkeyLabs had chewed up 1.6 gig. :(

TiBookG4/5, it did not crash for me at the step you described, but once the frameset opened, using the tab controls on the upper left did crash Safari.... I am using the standard 412.2 build.

I did a clean install of 10.4.2 and still have the issue with the Grado Labs page and others. I havent identified a pattern with the unexpected quits but I imagine that issue is fairly common. Baffling.

Okay, I understood that you did a clean install...but HOW did you do a clean install? Aren't there separate selections to simply delete all contents from the existing format of the drive, or to reformat it, and what format is it in? When you look at the disk in Disk Utility (btw, just delete Norton! It's evil.), does Disk Utility report that it your boot partition is a "Journaled HFS+" partition?

Details here, Mail 2.x plays fine with some IMAP servers but fails with others. You can also scan Apple's Tiger mail board for more recent reports.

Wow thats a lot of reading...heheh

We use openmail, one of the worst email servers in the world (IMHO)....and it's just fine....odd...

All messages and their attachments are cached. Drafts, Sent and junk is not stored on the server. Trash is however....All other settings are set to the default values.

Not sure what your problem is, but would love to fix it....(I do that all day...fix things...)

Cheers!!!

Will have to check when I get home. I don't recall there being multiple options for clean install... I remember the 3 options being upgrade, clean install, or archive and install. In any case, you recommend that my startup disk be Journaled HFS+, yes?

Mail still has the same bugs. I select 'Organize by Thread,' and then Mail freezes and refuses to quit.

I have been using Organize by Thread since I first got my Mac, which came pre-installed with Tiger. I used Mail after the upgrade last night and it worked with no problems.

I am pretty sure that Spotlight requires this in order to function. At least, pre-release, this is what everyone said. Actually, if this does turn out to be the cause of your problems, I am *really* surprised you were not warned of it by the Tiger installer! At any rate, it's one thing to check on the list... it sounds like there is something wrong at a low level with your drive (not physically, necessarily, but format/partition/etc-wise), based on your comments.

I tried every link on the site and they all opened fine. Even the PDF linked at the bottom of the left side opened in the lower-right frame without a hitch. So I suggest trying out the new WebKit. NightShift keeps a backup copy of the original so if you encounter some trouble you can always revert.

2) Did they fix the problem with Adobe Helvetica Neue conflicting with Apple's Helvetica that causes Dashboard Widget text to render incorrectly?

I cannot comment on this, but I can mention something related. Apparently, the update broke something with the display for some widgets. Scoreboard 1.2 renders incorrectly now. It actually scrolls games in its minimum size state instead of expanding. Weird.

This is Norton Utilities as opposed to Norton AV (personally, I'd dump both)?

I'm going to try to find an article I read when Tiger came out about disk utility applications. I'm fairly sure it said that they couldn't cope with Tiger and the indices that Spotlight drops places. Can you try uninstalling your Norton Utilities, restarting and then trying the Preferences trick?

Norton's Knowledgebase suggests that anything other than NAV10 doesn't play nicely with Tiger.

Could try, but I only installed Norton after this problem started. They shouldn't be related

Guess you're the lucky one then, seeing as I have a pretty much identical set-up as you (minus 2.5gig of ram plus 20" Apple Display) and I've had to resort to a program called BluePhoneElite.. although saying that, you may want to check the demo out - it's a worthy enhancement to the features you're currently getting. :)

before, and I never noticed. And when I say whored, I mean whored—out of 1.25GB, I've got only 31MB reported as free.

Not too bad, but I can slightly top that one. I had about 70 meg free the other night, but that is out of 3 gig of RAM. One of the third-party widgets that I had loaded had consumed 1.6 gig of RAM by itself. :)

Adapting is always so easy.

:) Wow...10.4.2 is quick! The 1.5 gigs of RAM is worth it! As well is low-key input from kind souls. Finding the weakness was only a matter of time.

"What?? You mean you can't update a bootleg Tiger?@!"

kidding.. ;)

Anyway, this update didn't fix a problem with Preview.app where you can't view pix in full screen view on my cinema display. It seems to be limited by my graphics card... 12" rev. B Powerbook.......... thing is it worked in panther, so why couldn't they make a cutdown no-frills fullscreen view for 32mb video?
:) :)

I can confirm the issue here with Safari 412.2.

That's a bug in the widget. Mine is Moon now. But it has been sun other nights. No explaning why this happens from time to time.

I wonder if the server that it gets the data from goes down from time to time? I have noticed it not updating every once in a while when the weather outside was clearly not what the widget was reporting.

I must be the only one who had problems with the update. My powerbook is now useless.
The SystemUIServer process has gone mad.... it's pegging the cpu to 99%+ and it's
gobbling up all the memory!!! The whole laptop gets really hot after a few minutes of
running! Noone else ran into this problem?

Looks like I might have to re-install tiger (or ydl!!!)

Still Mac Mini DVI output is full of static on certain DVI monitors...

Nearly six months without a software fix to bring the signal refresh in to DVI spec.

Single sign-on. (see it in my original title)

What are the details of single sign-on....???? It is mentioned in the original article, but I find nothing on Apple's site referencing it.
